In 1901, English academics Charlotte Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain visited Versailles and claimed to experience a paranormal time slip. They reported encountering 18th-century figures, including Marie Antoinette. They published their story in the 1911 book An Adventure. The incident sparked intense debate, with explanations ranging from time travel and ghosts to shared psychological hallucinations or a costume party.
