#85 What does it mean to be happy and content in this life | The Principle of 'Santosha' in Yoga
Last week I explored one of the principles of yoga which is Santosha, it's the second Niyama in Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. Santosha is the Sanskrit word for 'contentment' which reminds us to let go, soak in the present moment and what is right in front of us before getting busy to go to the next thing. This practice can be challenging because we all have our own lives, responsibilities, work, paying bills, looking after your kids and it's easy to let our life slip by before our eyes. I wanted to explore this theme because these moments of slowing down allows us to reset and recharge, not only for yourself but so you can be present and aware in your life. Reflect where in your life you're running after the next goal before being grateful for where you are. Don't let the challenges of life sweep you and wipe away all the effort it took to get you here. If you didn't give up then it's likely that you're worth fighting for, that your life deserves another chance and many more, that there's something so beautiful ahead waiting for you. What if it's not very far? It's now. It's here. It's built in the pauses, reflections and gratitude of your breath, of waking up and it's another day. You didn't have to earn another day here, you just did by continuing your way forward.
