When Your Life Changes Before Anyone Knows It

Change rarely happens overnight - even when it looks that way from the outside. In this episode of Fuller Expectations, we’re talking about the invisible journey that often happens long before someone makes a major change in their life. Whether it’s leaving a relationship, changing careers, ending a friendship, setting new boundaries, or simply becoming a different version of yourself, the people around us usually see the decision...but they don’t see everything that came before it. We’re often quick to judge someone else’s timeline. Too fast. Too soon. Why now? Why didn’t they wait? But the truth is, we don’t know what happens behind closed doors. We don’t know how long someone has struggled, grieved, questioned, tried, or quietly prepared themselves to move forward. And sometimes, when other people have a hard time accepting our change, it’s because they’re just beginning to process something we’ve already spent months - or even years—working through. This episode is a reminder that there is no universal timeline for change, healing, reinvention, or moving forward. The goal isn’t to move quickly or slowly. The goal is to move when you’re ready. Because people may see the moment you changed your life - but they didn’t see how long it took you to get there.

Healthy Shouldn't Be Hard - Six Simple Tips to Live YOUR Best Life!

Be the 7%: Getting Healthy in an Unhealthy World... We have more health information at our fingertips than any generation before us. We can track our sleep, heart rate, steps, blood sugar, protein, calories and stress. We have podcasts, social media experts, supplements, wearables and longevity strategies promising to help us live longer and feel better. So why are we still so unhealthy?! In this episode of Fuller Expectations, Carrie explores the contradiction at the heart of health in America: we spend extraordinary amounts of money on healthcare and have unprecedented access to health information, yet only a small percentage of adults meet the definition of optimal cardiometabolic health. But this episode isn't about fear... and it isn't about trying to do everything. It's about becoming part of the 7%! Carrie looks at the shift from treating sickness to preventing it, the changing way we think about nutrition and movement, America's new dietary guidelines, the importance of advocating for yourself within the healthcare system, and the growing phenomenon of longevity anxiety...that overwhelming feeling that you're somehow falling behind if you aren't tracking, supplementing, fasting, cold plunging, strength training and optimizing every minute of your life. The good news? You don't need to do everything! You need to consistently do the things that matter. Because the goal isn't simply to add more years to your life. It's to add more healthy, active, meaningful life to your years. You don't have to be perfect - you just have to be intentional. Be the 7%. YOU CAN!!! And we are with you!

The 8-Hour Investment: Why Sleep Changes Everything

What if one of the most powerful tools for better health, weight management, brain function and longevity wasn't something you had to do, but something you had to give yourself permission to do more of? In this episode of Fuller Expectations, Carrie shares how wearing an Oura Ring changed the way she thinks about sleep and sent her down a fascinating path of learning what actually happens inside our bodies while we sleep. BUT - you don't necessarily need an Oura Ring, you just need to listen up! From deep sleep and muscle recovery to REM sleep and memory, brain waste clearance, appetite regulation, insulin sensitivity, body composition and cardiovascular health, this episode explores why sleep may be one of the most overlooked pieces of our wellness puzzle. You'll also learn why alcohol can make you sleepy without necessarily giving you better sleep, why more time in bed doesn't always mean more time asleep, and simple changes you can experiment with to improve your sleep starting tonight. Plus, Carrie introduces a seven-day sleep challenge designed to help you start treating sleep as an investment in tomorrow.

Your Life Is Happening Now - Is Your Career Affecting it?

What if the biggest career risk isn’t leaving - but staying too long? So many people feel trapped in jobs they no longer enjoy because they’ve invested years, built up benefits, earned seniority, or are holding on for a pension. Walking away can feel like throwing away everything they’ve worked for. But there’s another side of the equation we don’t talk about nearly enough: What is staying costing you? In this episode of Fuller Expectations, Carrie explores the hidden price of remaining in a chronically stressful or unfulfilling job - from the toll it can take on your physical and emotional health to the way work stress follows you home and affects your relationships, energy, sleep, and overall quality of life. This isn’t about recklessly quitting your job or ignoring financial realities. It’s about challenging the belief that longevity means you’re stuck. We’ll talk about the “golden handcuffs” of salary, benefits and pensions; the sunk-cost trap of thinking you’ve invested too much to leave; and how to begin exploring what else might be possible without handing in your resignation tomorrow. Because changing careers at 45, 50, 55 or even 60 isn’t necessarily starting over. You’re starting again, but with experience. Your retirement matters. Your financial future matters. But so does the life you’re living today!

The 'Bounce Bank' - Rejection or Uncertainty...What Is It Telling Me?

What if rejection isn’t a sign that you’re not good enough, but an opportunity to learn, grow, and get ready for what’s next? In this episode of Fuller Expectations, Carrie explores how we respond when life tells us “no.” She shares a personal story about becoming a finalist for a job she really wanted, not getting the position, and then doing something many of us are afraid to do: calling back and asking 'why'. What could she have done differently? What was the other candidate bringing to the table that she lacked? And most importantly, what could she learn from the experience? This episode is about turning rejection into information instead of allowing it to define your confidence. It’s about asking for feedback, advocating for yourself, taking chances even when failure is possible, and remembering that one person’s decision does not determine your potential. Carrie also speaks to parents of teens and twenty-somethings who are still figuring out who they want to become. Think about how many versions of you there have been throughout your lifetime. Very few of us end up exactly where we thought we would when we were 18 or 22 - and that’s not failure. That’s growth. Whether you’re 25 and searching for your path, 45 and questioning the one you chose, or 60 and ready for another reinvention, there is still time to change direction, take a chance on yourself, and become another version of who you were meant to be. Rejection is information, it's not your identity. The question isn’t simply, “Why didn’t they choose me?” It’s “What can I learn from this—and what am I going to do next?”

The Season After - Episode 3 in a 3-Part Series Featuring Guest, Ed Doherty

Life is made up of seasons. Some arrive with excitement and possibility. Others bring unexpected change, loss, waiting, or uncertainty. In this 3-episode series, Carrie sits down with author, speaker, and leadership consultant, Ed Doherty, to explore how every season of life (whether chosen or not) has the power to shape who we become. In Episode 1, we explored how to recognize the season you're in and why resisting change often creates more struggle than growth. Episode 2 examined how life's most difficult seasons can become our greatest teachers, revealing strengths and wisdom we never knew we possessed. Now, in the final episode of the series, Carrie and Ed turn their attention to what comes next. What happens when one chapter closes? How do we let go of the identity we've outgrown and embrace the possibilities waiting in the next season? Whether you're facing an empty nest, retirement, a career transition, the loss of someone you love, a health challenge, or simply feeling called toward something new, this conversation is an invitation to see endings not as failures, but as beginnings. Together, Carrie and Ed discuss why reinvention is possible at any age, how curiosity and purpose can guide us into our next chapter, and why some of life's greatest opportunities don't appear until we're willing to leave the familiar behind. If you've ever wondered, "What's next for me?" this episode is for you. Because every ending is also the beginning of a new season - and sometimes, the best chapters of our lives are still waiting to be written!

Unnecessary Stress: The Friction You Might Be Creating in Your Own Life

We all have stress in life that we can’t control - loss, uncertainty, responsibilities, health concerns, work pressure, family dynamics. But what about the stress we create ourselves without even realizing it? In this episode, I’m talking about the hidden ways we add unnecessary friction to our own lives: avoiding hard conversations, staying stuck in unresolved relationships, holding onto resentment, living with one foot in and one foot out, failing to express gratitude, and letting fear or pride keep us from peace. This isn’t about blame. It’s about awareness. Because when you start noticing the patterns that are draining your energy, you also start creating more space for joy, connection, clarity, and calm. If you’ve ever felt like life feels heavier than it should, this episode is an invitation to ask a powerful question: Am I making this harder than it needs to be? A “stress and joy audit” for listeners - here are a few questions to ask yourself this week: 1. What is creating tension in my life right now that has gone unaddressed for too long? 2. Is there a relationship where I’m living in limbo instead of making a decision or having a conversation? 3. Am I holding onto resentment that is costing me more than it’s protecting me? 4. Is there someone in my life who shows up for me consistently that I haven’t truly thanked? 5. Where am I making life harder than it needs to be through avoidance, indecision, or silence? 6. What would create more peace in my life right now: a conversation, a boundary, a decision, an apology, or gratitude?

The Power of Traditions: Creating Legacy Through Simple Moments

What do your children, grandchildren, family and friends remember most? It’s not the gifts. It’s not the big moments. It’s the traditions. In this special episode of Fuller Expectations, I’m joined by my lifelong friend, Julie. Julie has truly walked alongside me through so many seasons of life. From being teenagers' waitressing together, to college and careers, to pregnancies and raising our families, our friendship has been shaped by our experiences, knowing the importance of connection, and being blessed enough to have a front-row seat to each other’s lives. One of the things I’ve always admired about Julie is the way her family embraces traditions. The consistency. The intention. The meaning behind the moments. And it’s inspired me because I saw know the impact of that on our kids, on friendships, and on extended family. It's something you can see and feel! In this conversation, we explore: Why/how family traditions matter more than we realize How traditions shape children and create a lasting sense of belonging The role traditions play in passing down values across generations How even the simplest rituals can leave the biggest imprint This episode is a reminder that traditions aren’t about perfection - they’re about presence, connection, and creating something meaningful that lives on long after the moment has passed. Whether you’re continuing traditions from your own childhood or starting new ones for your family and/or friend groups, this conversation will leave you thinking differently about the moments that matter most. Because the legacy we leave isn’t just what we give… it’s what we repeat.
