How To Stop AI From Making You Stupid - Sergei Guriev

Do you ask AI for the answer before you've even thought about the question? You might be losing the ability to think. Sergei Guriev is the Dean of London Business School and the former Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and he studies how social media and disinformation change what we believe. We're having a conversation about cognitive atrophy, why the internet is built so you have no time to think, and why trust is about to become the scarcest thing in the world. In this episode, you'll learn: ■ How AI causes cognitive atrophy: when you get to the answer right away, you stop practising reasoning and judgment, and he says that's how students waste their time at university. ■ The skills employers want now: people who ask the right questions, challenge AI and each other, and orchestrate teams. Not people who just ask an AI tool. ■ How to take back control of your feed: switch X from "For You" to "Following" and "Recent". He admits it's boring, because you stop getting the dopamine. ■ Why social media should be treated like alcohol: "we don't allow kids to buy alcohol, why should we allow them to be addicted to this information?" ■ Why trust is the scarcest commodity: AI can now do the analysis, but your name on the report and your reputation can't be automated. ■ How great leaders decide when nobody has the answers: share your assumptions, admit you might be wrong, and never throw your team under the bus. This episode is in partnership with the World Economic Forum at the Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders 2026, in the Davos on Air Studio. 🔗 LINKS → Sergei Guriev at London Business School: https://www.london.edu/faculty-and-research/faculty-profiles/s/sergei-guriev → Sergei's website and research: https://sites.google.com/site/sguriev/ 📱 MORE FROM DOONE → Join 160,000+ women on my free newsletter: the best opportunities to apply for, plus the routines and habits from every episode: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=sergei_guriev → Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imagineifwithdoone → Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dooneroisin

How To Stop Judging People - Sara Minkara

We all judge people, and often before they even speak. Sara Minkara, blind since age 7 and a former US Special Advisor on disability rights for the Biden administration, can't see the people she meets - so she can't judge them on looks. We’re having a conversation about removing judgment and assumptions, critically thinking and speaking with intention, and how that impacts your leadership skills in the world and translates to better outcomes at work. In this episode, you'll learn: ■ How to stop judging people: we label everyone in the first few seconds, and those assumptions decide how much we listen to them. Sara's way of meeting people without the labels. ■ The 1 question to ask instead of "so, what do you do?": "tell me your story outside of work". She says it's the most powerful thing you can do in any networking setting. ■ How great leaders hear the truth: her In the Dark method blindfolds whole teams and bans name, title, hometown and education, so the intern's idea gets heard like the CEO's. ■ How to rebuild trust in a team: why a few workshops won't fix it, and the question she opens with: if you had to build an organisation with no trust, how would you do it? ■ Why a seat at the table isn't enough: if people don't feel safe to speak, and nobody is listening, diversity on paper changes nothing. ■ How constraints make you a better leader: she can't read off a script and doesn't use Braille, so she learned to think every meeting through, and it made her a more effective diplomat. 🔗 LINKS → Sara Minkara on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarasminkara → Sara's website and In the Dark: https://saraminkara.com → Curious Constructs, her weekly Substack: https://sarasminkara.substack.com 📱 MORE FROM DOONE → Join 160,000+ women on my free newsletter: the best opportunities to apply for, plus the routines and habits from every episode: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=sara_minkara → Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imagineifwithdoone → Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dooneroisin

How To Build Your Confidence - Amira Sajwani

Amira Sajwani, the Dubai property leader and Shark Tank investor, gets into everything: why you hold yourself to a higher standard than the men around you, how to invest in property from as little as $135, and the 30-second test she gives every founder. She didn't hold back. Amira is Managing Director of DAMAC Properties, which booked a record AED 36 billion (about $9.8 billion) in sales in 2025. She's the Founder of PRYPCO, which facilitates more than 1 billion dirhams (over $250 million) of property financing every month, co-founder of the ultra-luxury developer Amali Properties, a shark on Shark Tank Dubai and one of Forbes Middle East's Top 100 CEOs of 2026. She was giving speeches at her father's property launches at age 10, and has valuable insights to share with women who are building, or want to. In this episode, she explains: ■ The confidence gap: men discount their mistakes, while women, even overachieving mums running companies, feel guilty and question themselves. Her fix: rephrase "I messed up" to "it was a mistake" before the world does. ■ Property from as little as $135: how PRYPCO lets you invest in UAE real estate from 500 dirhams, and who is actually buying: 60+ nationalities, aged 22 to 75. ■ The 30-second founder test: on Shark Tank she decides in the first 30 seconds whether she believes in the founder, then looks at the business, then the market size. ■ Her 3-factor investing filter: founder, business, market. Revenue, growth and valuation only come after. ■ The next wave of AI businesses: "services as a software", meaning companies using AI to 10x their growth without adding people, and why she's watching AI move into robotics. ■ The golden spoon question: growing up in the DAMAC family, why the assumptions don't bother her, and how she blocks out the noise. Red light therapy, sauna, supplements... The best health protocols for women according to a Doctor!

What if the health advice you're following wasn't actually studied on women... and the protocols everyone's recommending might not work for your body at all? This is a conversation about personalized health, why women need different protocols than men, and the future of precision medicine that actually tracks what your body needs in real time. We're diving into why clinical trials need to study more women, how your hormone levels should dictate your supplementation, and why the one size fits all approach to health is fundamentally broken. We're exploring the cold plunge debate (and why timing matters more than you think), the Finnish sauna study that showed longevity benefits, and why red light therapy might actually be worth the investment if you buy the right device. Here's what we're diving into: Why clinical trials need to study more women (and why N equals 1 isn't enough to understand what works) How ethnicity, biology, childhood, and diet all influence what your body actually needs Why women have different requirements at different life phases (pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and beyond) The supplements women actually need: iron, magnesium, vitamin D (and why they're different from men's needs) Why maintaining muscle mass and bone mineral density is critical for metabolic health (and preventing diabetes and cardiovascular disease) The hormone innovation we need: a patch that tracks your estradiol and progesterone day to day and releases the exact dose you need in real time The cold plunge truth: why you should wait a couple hours after strength training (because it reverses muscle hypertrophy) Why women's body temperatures run higher and cold plunges below 10 degrees might not be ideal for long term muscle preservation The Finnish sauna study: 4 to 7 times a week, 20 minutes at 80 degrees for cardiovascular benefits and lower mortality rates Red light therapy: what the studies actually show (collagen production, scar reduction, dermatological benefits) and why you need a credible device like Omnilux Why yoga can be just as effective as SSRIs for PTSD (but nobody funds the trials because you can't sell yoga) The money problem: why pharmaceutical companies fund drug trials but not trials on things like yoga or cold plunges The cold plunge and fertility question: why temperature regulation matters when you're pregnant or trying to conceive How to actually research health advice: why ChatGPT makes up links and why Open Evidence is the tool you should be using instead This one is for the woman who's been following health advice without questioning where it came from, who wants to understand what her body actually needs, and who's ready to take a more personalized approach to her health. 💁‍♀️ SPONSORS → For ecomm founders: Omnisend is your email SMS automation partner that costs 35% less than the big names and returns $79 for every dollar spent → Use code FSC for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc 🔗 LINKS → Use code 'FSC' for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc → Female Startup Club's Instagram: www.instagram.com/femalestartupclub → Doone Roisin's Instagram: www.instagram.com/dooneroisin → Get opportunities delivered to your inbox 3x weekly here: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/

The Science of Chronic Stress, Grief & Burnout (and how to fix it!) - with Lisa Walker

Join the conversation: https://forms.gle/7F9vYtPkedAtwWu38 What if the exhaustion, anger, and the feeling like you're just surviving each day isn't just stress... it's your body trying to tell you something bigger? This is a conversation with Lisa Walker, a woman who's lived through chronic stress, grief, and burnout, and came out the other side with a radical approach to living her life. She's studied the science of stress, nervous system regulation, and what actually makes life worth living. And she's getting brutally honest about what happens to your body when you push through for too long. In this episode, Lisa opens up about the years she spent in survival mode, raising young kids, running a business, and managing a marriage affected by addiction that ended in death. She shares the phone call that changed everything, the year of yes that followed, and why she now believes that wellbeing literacy is the number one thing we're missing. Here's what we're exploring: Why so many women hit burnout in their mid 40s (and what chronic stress is actually doing to your body) The difference between emotional dysregulation and nervous system dysregulation (and how they're connected) How grief isn't just about losing a person, it's about grieving the life you thought you were going to have Why sitting in stillness might not be the answer for everyone (and what to do instead) The practical tools that actually work: journaling, meditation, breath work, creativity, and the power of a year of yes Why living with radical aliveness means being brave enough to feel it all This one is for the woman who's been running on empty, who's been told she's fine when she knows something deeper is going on, and who's ready to understand what her body is trying to tell her. 💁‍♀️ SPONSORS → For ecomm founders: Omnisend is your email SMS automation partner that costs 35% less than the big names and returns $79 for every dollar spent → Use code FSC for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc 🔗 LINKS → → Use code 'FSC' for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc → Female Startup Club's Instagram: www.instagram.com/femalestartupclub → Doone Roisin's Instagram: www.instagram.com/dooneroisin → Get opportunities delivered to your inbox 3x weekly here: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/

The Friendship Experiment: 36 Questions That Create Deep Female Friendships (Pt. 1/3)

Be part of the experiment by joining us here: https://forms.gle/zVr3Dt9CKGPVg55r7 Introducing The Friendship Experiment: We're lonelier than ever. Despite being more connected than any generation before us, loneliness is now being called the epidemic of our lifetime. Coupled with the fact that making friends in your 30s is tricky… And the world is telling us AI solves everything, yet research consistently shows that relationships are the single greatest predictor of how long we live and the quality of that life. We are most certainly in a pickle. We asked ourselves whether we could actually do something about it. In 1997, psychologist Arthur Aron published a study exploring whether intimacy could be accelerated between strangers using just 36 questions, delivered in three sets of increasing depth. The results were pretty remarkable. We've taken his experiment and tweaked it: what happens when you apply it to female friendship instead of romantic love? The Friendship Experiment is a three-part mini series where I answer all 36 questions myself, raw and increasingly personal, before opening them up to our community inside our private podcast discussion group. It's an experiment of an experiment, and an exciting new format for the show to explore a deeper two-way street connection between podcast and you, our community. It's intimate and joyful, and something new :) Here's what we're exploring: Why making friends in your 30s feels harder than it used to (and what we can do about it) The science behind why vulnerability creates connection My unfiltered answers to the first set of 12 questions like This one’s for the chicks craving deeper connection, who are tired of surface-level networking, and looking for friendships that feel good for the soul. Perimenopause in Your 30s: Why We Need Better Hormone Testing for Women - with Dr. Amandeep Hansra

What if the brain fog, the mood swings, and the exhaustion you're dismissing as "just stress" is actually perimenopause... and you're only 37? This is a conversation from our full length episode with Dr. Amandeep Hansra on Female Startup Club, where she's getting brutally honest about the thing most doctors still won't tell you: perimenopause can start in your 30s. And the tests we're using to diagnose it? They're basically useless. In this conversation, Dr. Amandeep opens up about why a single blood test won't tell you if you're perimenopausal (your hormones fluctuate minute to minute), why she had to see three doctors before getting HRT prescribed (as a doctor herself), and the 2000s study that created a generation of women too scared to take hormones that could actually help them live longer. I wanted to know: Why we can't diagnose perimenopause with a blood test (and what we actually need) What the HRT scare of the early 2000s got wrong and why doctors are still scared to prescribe it How to find a doctor who won't dismiss your symptoms as anxiety This one is for the woman who's been told "it's just stress" or "maybe it's anxiety" when she knows something deeper is going on in her body. Let us know what you think of this episode by leaving a review or commenting on our video wherever you’re tuning in from (we reply!) :) 💁‍♀️ SPONSORS → For ecomm founders: Omnisend is your email-SMS-automation partner that costs 60% less than the big names and returns $79 for every dollar spent → Use code FSC for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc 🔗 LINKS → Dr. Amandeep Hansra Instagram: www.instagram.com/dochansra 📱 Join 160K smart chicks in the Female Startup Club universe: → Use code 'FSC' for 30% off your first 3 months at omnisend.com/fsc → Female Startup Club's Instagram: www.instagram.com/femalestartupclub → Doone Roisin's Instagram: www.instagram.com/dooneroisin → Get opportunities delivered to your inbox 3x weekly here: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/
