A Casual Hour of Crying on the Mic

Just a casual one this week! I sat down to record minutes after Carmela had an explosive diaper situation all over her room, which naturally set the tone for a very chill hour. From there I told you about how even though I never compare Carmela to anyone else, every once in a while something sneaks up on me and I cry. On the mic. As one does. Then, because we weren’t emotional enough yet, I moved on to turning 40. Spoiler: I feel incredible about it. I’m ten toes down on who I am, proud of my life experience, my dad, my relationships, and ready to close out the first half of my life and walk into the second. And somehow it all came full circle back to the hard, beautiful job of being Carmela’s mom, and how everything I’ve lived was preparing me for her. So, you know, light stuff. Grab a snack, a glass of wine, and maybe a tissue or twelve. From Into The Gloss to Contrapposto with Nick Axelrod-Welk

If you've ever admired someone's bathroom shelf, there's a good chance Nick Axelrod had something to do with it. Few people have shaped the way we shop for beauty and self-care quite like Nick has. We talk about Nick's early days at WWD and Elle, where he sharpened the eye that would define his career, and starting Into The Gloss with Emily Weiss, the site that turned peeking into people's medicine cabinets into the beauty bible of a generation. From there, we get into the companies Nick has founded, including Nécessaire, the brand that convinced everyone body care deserved the same attention as their face, and Homecourt, plus what it really takes to go from writing about products to making them. And then, the real reason Nick is here: his new brand, Contrapposto. We talk about why he's starting something new after everything he's built, what the name means to him, and what he's doing differently this time. Plus, Nick's Bests: the things he can't stop recommending right now. Nara Smith on Motherhood, Marriage, and Ignoring the Internet

THE BESTS - My October Favorites

Pull up a cozy chair and grab your homemade ghost, because it's officially spooky season and I have favorites. This month we're talking hydration (yes, I'm still lugging around The Hydro Jug like it's my emotional support animal), the hair duo that brought my strands back to life with K18 and Chris McMillan's clarifying shampoo, and the Neuro Gum that's getting me through the afternoon slump. I'm sharing the WTHN acupressure mat that hurts so good, the Splits pants I refuse to take off, Olive & June's nail strengthener, and getting a little deep with The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Plus, a very special bonus fave that I'm putting on literally everything: Zankou harissa. Light a candle, hit play, and let's get into it. The Makeup Artist Who Built a Beauty Empire: Gucci Westman

This week I sit down with Gucci Westman, the legendary makeup artist behind some of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood and on the runway, and the founder of Westman Atelier. Gucci spent decades shaping how we think about beauty, from red carpets to her years leading artistry at Revlon and Lancôme, before creating a luxury clean makeup line that lives in every chic woman's bag. We talk about how she got her start, what she's learned from working on faces for thirty years, why skin always comes first, and what it really takes to build a brand on your own terms. Plus, her quick tricks for looking rested when you are anything but, the products she never travels without, and how she balances creativity, business, and family. The Business of Better Skin with Olivia Boyd-Smith

Surprise! We’re back with a bonus episode!! I’m sitting down with Olivia Boyd-Smith to talk all things skin, wellness, entrepreneurship, and what it actually takes to build a business from the ground up. Par Olive is Australia’s #1 dermatologist-recommended ingestible skin supplement brand. Founded by Olivia Boyd-Smith and developed with a leading Australian dermatologist and Longevity Doctor, the brand is built on the belief that healthy skin is about more than what we apply topically. The brand is manufactured in Australia under rigorous Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) standards as a listed medicine, and stocked globally in more than 700 dermatology and skin clinics, Erewhon, Goop, FWRD, Revolve and more. Par Olive is leading a more intelligent approach to optimal skin health. We get into her journey from growing up around dermatology and wellness in Australia to bootstrapping her own brand, knocking on the doors of her first 100 skin clinics, moving to New York with three suitcases, and learning to trust her instincts as a founder. We talk about turning down money, why not all investment is good investment, building the right team, and the very unglamorous realities behind growing a business. And obviously, we get into SKIN. Olivia breaks down her inside-out approach to skincare, what makes a quality collagen supplement, the treatments she actually does, her everyday products, and the exact “skin bowl” she makes in the morning. Plus, we talk balance, lifting weights, eating well, drinking the wine, and why taking care of yourself should never mean taking all the fun out of your life. Such a fun, honest conversation about beauty, business, trusting yourself, and building a life that actually feels good. Visit parolive.com/BEST or simply use the code BEST to receive 20% your order. AMANDA HAS A BOYFRIEND! And she's back with advice, laughter and how to call in your person.

Amanda is back, and after years of dating stories, situationships, bad dates, and men we truly could not make up… she finally has a boyfriend!!! Amanda takes us through the full story of how she met Jeff, from one final nightmare date to the Raya match that changed everything. We get into their first date, knowing when something just feels different, and what it’s like to finally experience the consistency and ease you’ve been told to stop expecting. Amanda also breaks down what she thinks actually moved the needle in finding her person: surrendering, learning to love the life you already have, cleaning up old situationships, making room for a relationship, and finally trusting your own intuition instead of asking everyone else what they think. If you’ve followed Amanda’s dating journey over the years, this is the update we’ve all been waiting for. did social media kill the party?

I’m back from New York and have A LOT to say. After an incredible week at the US Open, dinners, work, and time with old friends, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much the culture has changed. I’m taking you back to my New York days - working in fashion and PR, doing the door at The Box, sneaking into Alexander Wang parties, dancing until we were dripping sweat, and experiencing nightlife before every moment became content. We’re talking influencers getting paid to attend parties, the pressure to constantly perform online, why everything feels so curated now, and whether social media has officially killed the vibe. But it also got me thinking about something bigger: when is enough actually enough? How much success, money, content, and growth do we really need - and what if a good life is actually about community, family, friendship, and having a fucking good time? I miss when the girls were dancing on tables. Let’s bring back FUN. an advice column, but make it a podcast

i've decided i'm starting an advice column on substack, because i want to create more community in a really positive way. i'm hoping to build a little corner of substack where the girls are actually supporting each other and lifting each other up when things are hard, instead of just scrolling past it. before i launch it there, i wanted to test it out here first with some real questions from you guys. so in this episode i'm answering things like what you actually do when a guy you've been talking to long distance, someone you have genuinely never met in person, tells you he wants to fly into your town. exciting, or a red flag with a nice haircut. i also get into the one i get asked constantly, which is whether davide and i actually sit down and have dinner together every single night, and what that really looks like versus what people assume from the outside. and then the one that actually made me sit with it for a minute, which is how do you stay open to the world, genuinely open, soft, still willing to hope, when it so often feels like a tragic place. i don't have a neat answer for that one, but i gave a real one. consider this the pilot episode of the column. if it goes well, you're all getting a lot more of my unsolicited opinions very soon. The Man Behind Flamingo Estate - Mother Earth's Favorite Child, Richard Christiansen

Before Flamingo Estate became one of the most beloved lifestyle brands in the world, Richard Christiansen was running a fast, urban, client driven creative agency. Today he's a rural Australian farm kid turned custodian of a hundred plus farms and makers, and the author of Pleasure Principles, a book that draws its wisdom from gardens rather than boardrooms. In this conversation, Richard and I talk about what it actually means to slow down while running a business that keeps growing. We get into the daily rituals that have nothing to do with work, the difference between expensive and truly luxurious, and the plant lessons from his book that took the longest to sink in. We also talk about hospitality in its truest sense, the people who shaped his taste, and what he'd tell someone to do if they only had twenty minutes to experience one pleasure from his world. This is a conversation about beauty, patience, and building something rooted enough to last. How to Stop Future Tripping & Actually Enjoy Your Life

Solo episode today! I’m answering your questions and giving a little life update as I head to Mexico with Carmela for her stem cell treatment, what I’m hoping for, and why I’m choosing to approach the trip with gratitude instead of fear. I’m also getting into my advice for starting a brand in your 20s (hint: get some life experience first), why the best brands are built around a real point of view, and everything I learned from my years at Reformation. Then we talk weddings—why yours should feel personal instead of like a content shoot, the details that made mine so special, and why your guests’ experience matters more than getting the perfect photo. Plus, friendship breakups, anxiety, social media, sadness, gratitude, and the question I ask myself when I start spiraling: Is this real? Life is going to have hard moments, but I’m learning to stop future tripping, focus on what’s actually in front of me, and let myself enjoy the life I’ve worked so hard to build. Sicily Recap with Davide!

Davide is back on the pod for a very special al fresco episode! We’re recapping our summer in Sicily- from Taormina / Davide's hometown to beach clubs, long lunches, late-night gelato, traveling with two kids and the places we’ll always return to. We reminisce about the restaurant where Davide asked my dad for permission to propose, his past life as a Sicilian beach boy, Italian friendship and family culture, and why traveling with our kids has become so meaningful to us. We also get into parenting anxiety, making room for intimacy after kids, ignoring judgment, and why I refuse to let fear of something being uncomfortable stop us from making memories as a family. Plus, Davide reflects on turning 38, the personal growth that’s gotten him here, and what it means to finally feel like it’s time to “be your own hero.” Produced by Dear Media See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

My Honest Thoughts on Influencer Culture

This week I'm unpacking the conversation that's been taking over the internet after the viral "No Influencers" sign in Nantucket—but it's really about something much bigger. I share why our recent trip to Sicily made me rethink my relationship with content creation, the pressure to perform online, and why authenticity feels harder than ever in the algorithm era. We talk about influencer culture, creativity, community, comparison, and why I still believe the internet can be one of the most beautiful tools we have when we use it thoughtfully. Plus, I open up about my own insecurities around social media, being Type B in a Type A online world, and why your unique perspective is the only thing worth protecting. This Oak House, and the Woman Behind It: Annie Meyers-Shyer

This week I sat down with Annie Meyers-Shyer, the woman behind This Oak House, the Instagram account documenting her family's historic home renovation in Los Angeles that has completely taken over my algorithm and my heart. Annie grew up surrounded by design and storytelling as the daughter of Nancy Meyers, known for movies such as Something's Gotta Give and The Holiday, and her father, Charles Shyer, who worked alongside Nancy as a writer and director on many of those same films. But her own path took a different shape entirely, from working as an accessories editor at Harper's Bazaar in New York to a five year run as West Coast PR for Chanel, before eventually landing back in Los Angeles as a wife, mother, and, as she puts it herself, "the absolute accidental influencer." We get into what it actually looks like to take on a major renovation with two kids underfoot, how she thinks about pace and patience when nothing is moving fast enough, the design instincts she absorbed from watching her mother obsess over every detail of a set, right down to matching paint to Lindsay Lohan's hair color, and how she's built a genuinely joyful online community around something as unglamorous as knob hardware and paint swatches. we also talk about grief, family, and legacy, since this conversation comes not long after the loss of her father. This one is warm, honest, and full of the kind of small, specific details that make a house actually feel like home. Grab your coffee for this one. Eric Buterbaugh: The King of Roses on Versace, Elizabeth Taylor, and Being Fucking Fabulous

Eric Buterbaugh has the best stories of anyone I know. This week on Everything Is The Best, we sit down with the man they call the King of Roses, LA's florist to the stars turned founder of EB Florals, and honestly I could have listened to him for five more hours. He's worked for Gianni Versace, he's done the flowers for Madonna's Oscar parties and Demi Moore's dinners, and at one point in this conversation he tells the story of eating fried chicken on the floor with Elizabeth Taylor, which is exactly the kind of unhinged glamour I live for. We get into what it actually takes to build a life around beauty, the emotional labor of working the most intimate days in people's lives (he's basically a therapist with shears), and how decades of floral obsession turned into a perfume line that made Saks and Bergdorf Goodman pay attention. Eric is fucking fabulous. Funny, unfiltered, zero interest in being precious about any of it. I love him, and I think you will too. Produced by Dear Media. Can You Really Have It All?

This week I'm answering one of the questions I get asked most: how do you actually balance work, motherhood, ambition, and everything in between? The honest answer is... I'm still figuring it out. I share why I've been feeling disconnected lately, my complicated relationship with networking, and the unexpected loneliness that can come with building a career while raising a family. I also open up about taking Carmela to an incredible five-day therapy intensive, the progress we saw, and why it left me feeling more hopeful than I have in a long time. Plus, I finally recap one of the greatest nights of my life: watching Saturday Night Live from inside Studio 8H, seeing Will Ferrell host, Paul McCartney surprise the audience, and witnessing a behind-the-scenes moment I'll never forget. How an ICU Nurse Built a Million-Dollar Brand with Jordan Harper

This week, I’m sitting down with Jordan Harper, founder of Barefaced and one of the smartest voices in skincare. We talk about how a teenage struggle with acne led her from the ICU to building one of the fastest-growing skincare brands in the country, all while raising four kids and navigating over $500,000 in student debt. Jordan shares the skincare advice everyone should know, the products that actually matter, why most routines are far too complicated, and the surprising reason consistency beats every quick fix. We also get into motherhood, time management, building a business without investors, and the mindset shifts that helped her turn a garage startup into a thriving company. Whether you're looking for better skin, better habits, or inspiration to finally start the thing you've been dreaming about, this conversation is packed with practical takeaways.
