    This week, I attended The Open Group Summit 2026, celebrating 30 years of collaboration, enterprise architecture, and open standards. We heard from outstanding enterprise architects and industry leaders who have helped shape how organizations approach technology and digital transformation. An especially exciting development was the continued momentum behind the Open Digital Transformation Architecture (O-DXA) standard. Our work is progressing through the snapshot and review stages as we move toward our goal of ratification over the coming months. The key message: Enterprise architecture is evolving beyond traditional IT systems to encompass the entire organization — its strategy, people, processes, digital capabilities, and physical operations.

    AI Skills, Patching, and Infrastructure | Oct 30, 2026 | Embracing Digital This Week Deep Dive

    This week, I had the opportunity to speak at the California State University AI Student Success Symposium, where we explored what it really means to create AI-Augmented Students. One of the things I've been emphasizing is that AI literacy alone isn't enough. Students need to develop four complementary skills: AI skills, subject matter expertise, core skills, and meta skills. The challenge for universities isn't just teaching students how to use AI tools. It's rethinking how we educate, assess learning, and prepare students to thrive in an AI-augmented workforce. And that's where the concept of the AI-Augmented University comes in. How do we transform not just the student experience, but the faculty, administration, and institution itself? This is something we're actively exploring with universities, and I'm excited about where these conversations are heading.

    This week Darren and Paige got to be with the grandkids in Austin Texas and had a great time with them and Darren and one of his Sons went to the Jack White concert. Great time, but there was a most definite bent on anti AI, and technology at the conference. Something Darren is seeing as a growing trend in many places. People are a bit scared of AI and it replacing jobs. The week was finished up on a more technology focused workshop for Country Court Clerks in Florida where we had a great discussion on how to leverage private Generative AI to help process court documents.
