You wake up on a Saturday morning, and the sunlight comes through the curtains, spreading warmth across the room.
Your body yearns to move, you feel the pull in you to get outside, and walk in the fresh air.
And then the mind arrives with its list. The laundry load. The usual chores. The never ending tasks.
You feel the familiar tug of everything left undone. And underneath it, something steadier knows what you actually need today. And that is fresh air.
So you decide to go out to the park anyway even though it feels like an indulgence.
Off you go, the air feels cool on your skin. You breathe it in. And with every step something loosens, the choice you made to walk feels right.
The park is already awake. Birdsong moving through the branches above you. Flowers bright against the green. You find a bench, and you sit, and you let the morning unfold around you.
The grass is cool beneath your feet. The petals move in the breeze. The birds carry on singing, and something in you begins to answer them.
And you notice something about all of it.
The petals opens as a flower. The lawn is a bed of grass. The bird sings its own tune.
Each one entirely itself, living in complete agreement with what it is.
Holding their natural state, effortlessly, while we spend our lives striving for it.
Sitting there, on the bench, you feel the inner shift.
Your breathing slows down.A sense of ease arrives.Your pace softens.
The worries that felt so heavy an hour ago loosen their grip. In their place comes a sense of connection, of being one small part of something whole.
And it comes to you easily. This is what coherence feels like.
Your thoughts, your feelings, your actions and the world around you, all moving in the same direction. A morning that flows, rather than one you force.
You listened to what was true in you, the need to move, and you acted on it. That brought you into this state of coherence.
When you rise from the bench and walk on, you carry it with you into your day. A reminder that coherence lives in ordinary moments, available to anyone willing to pause, listen and act in alignment with what is true.
What coherence is.
Coherence is the harmonic alignment of everything you are made of.
Your thoughts.Your emotions.Your actions.
When these align, you feel clear and your whole system settles.
When they pull against each other, the clarity blurs, everything takes more effort, and your body carries the strain.
Coherence is the harmony between your inner state and the world around you. All of it saying the same thing.
What you think. What you feel. What you do.
Everything lines up. Coherence is when what you carry inside and how you live outside are one and the same.
Being in a state of coherence rests on three factors.
Authenticity. Alignment. Intention.
Authenticity, being who you truly are rather than who you believe you should be.
Alignment, where your thoughts, your feelings and your actions agree.
Intention, moving through your life on purpose rather than by accident.
Coherence invites you to align your intentions with your true self, to resonate with the core of your being.
It is finding harmony within, and letting that inner alignment shape what appears in your outer life.
Coherence goes deeper than positive thinking and affirmations.
It is grounded in what is real in you, and that is why it holds.
How you come into coherence.
It begins with honesty with yourself.
One honest word where you have been agreeing out of habit. One choice that matches what you value. One boundary you have been avoiding.
Each small act of alignment returns a little energy to you, brings a little more clarity, and makes the next one easier.
This is harmony in motion. Coherence shapes the way the world flows with you and the ease you feel when you are in alignment.
The moment one part of you disagrees with another, coherence breaks.
You agree to something when everything in you resists it, you know deep down you shouldn’t have agreed and then you carry the cost of that yes all week.
You smile through a conversation while resentment sits in your chest.
You give your days to work that pulls against what you value. You know you need rest, and you push on anyway.
Each of these acts is a contradiction against who you are and holding these takes enormous energy, all day, every day.
You start to feel drained of your vital life force energy.
A tiredness you struggle to explain. A restlessness that follows you around.A fog where your clarity used to be.
Your energy expends into the gap between what is true in you and how you are living, out of alignment.
Coherence is wellbeing in motion.
Wellbeing is a state of harmonic balance between your body, your mind and your spirit. When you are in a state of wellbeing, coherence is always present.
When your thoughts, your emotions and your actions align, your whole system comes into harmony. This is coherence.
Your heart and your mind settle into the same rhythm. Your nervous system comes off alert. Your body turns toward rest and repair.
And when you live at odds with yourself, your body carries the wear and tear.
Sleep stays shallow, Digestion gets sluggish.Tiredness settles into exhaustion.
Living out of alignment is one of the deepest drains on your health. And coming into alignment is how to restore it.
Coherence is more than feeling at ease with life, it is a way to create the life you want with the wellbeing you need to live it fully.
The difference between forcing and inviting.
Most of us believe we need to put effort to get to where we think we need to go. Push harder. Strive longer. Hold on tighter.
Effort like this takes a vast amount of energy, because you are pushing against yourself and against the force of the world.
Coherence works another way. When your inner state is aligned, you stop pushing.
You start inviting.
And what belongs in your life begins to find its way toward you, because you have become the conditions it grows in.
Think of the times you chased something hard and it stayed out of reach. Then think of the times something arrived almost easily, when you were settled and clear and ready for it.
The effortless was coherence at play.
When authenticity, intention and alignment come into agreement, your energy increases. Your clarity returns.
You feel gathered rather than scattered. You feel steady rather than pulled. You feel refreshed rather than overextended. And your emotions reflect wonder, awe, gratitude, joy, sending out a resonance that draws more of the same toward you.
Coherence extends in the life around you
This inner alignment with the flow of life reaches outward, into everything you are connected to.
Your relationships steady when they are built on shared values, honest words and real respect.
Your home settles you when it reflects the state you want to live in.
The work you give your days to sustains you when it matches what you believe.
So surround yourself with what holds your coherence.
The people who bring out the best in you. The spaces that settle you. The work that asks for the real you.
Staying true to yourself, authentically, with intention creates alignment that breathes coherence into everything around you.
This is harmony in motion, this is the return to yourself.
An invitation for a guided practice. Coming into coherence.
This is an invitation to feel coherence in your body, and to bring one part of your life into alignment with it.
Find a space where you can be still and undisturbed.
In this moment there is nothing you need to do, no where else you need to be, and you are right here in this moment, present with this practice.
Sit comfortably or lie down, and let your body settle into whatever holds it. Feel the support.
Allow your eyes to close, or soften your gaze.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Feel the inhale arrive. Feel the exhale release.
Feel the inhale arrive. Feel the exhale release.
Take a slow deep breath in through the nose, filling the belly with air, expand the ribcage, hold when complete and then a long, slow exhale through the mouth, sigh it out, feel the release.
Repeat a few times and notice that this slow cycle of breathing allows your body the space it needs to release what it has been holding and to relax.
As the breath slows, your heart and your mind begin to settle into the same rhythm. The body organises itself around this steadiness. This is coherence arriving in you.
Rest a hand on your solar plexus if this feels comfortable and feel the warmth gathering there. Notice how your body feels when it is gathered rather than scattered, and how the clarity rises with it.
Now bring to mind one area of your life where something feels out of step, out of alignment. A yes you gave when every part of you wanted to decline. A silence you have been holding that is gnawing at you. A way of living that sits at odds with what you believe.
Stay with your breathing, and feel what your body does as you hold it.
This awareness that one piece of your life is out of alignment.
The tightening. The pulling. The bracing.
Feel where that arrives in your body.
Then ask yourself what would bring this into alignment. One honest word. One small choice. One thing you could set right.
Feel your body as you allow the alignment to flow.
Notice how the tightening eases. How the breath deepens. How something in you gathers again.
That is your coherence showing you the way towards ease and flow.
Carry it with you, and let one thing come into alignment today.
On reflection
Coherence is the harmonic alignment of all that you are.
Your thoughts, your emotions, your actions, moving as one.
It is authenticity, alignment and intention, lived as the same thing.
It brings clarity where there was confusion, and ease where there was strain. It is the difference between forcing your life and inviting it to flow.
So tend your alignment. Speak what is true. Act as you believe. Let your inner world and your outer world agree.
And watch how much lighter life becomes to live.
This is the return to yourself.
