On this week’s show we hear all about Ben’s holiday in Athens from a shaky start to visiting the Acropolis and sipping on some crisp, cold Alfas. George has bought a big ride cymbal and finally got his ear on the mend. Enjoy! George is still fighting his infected ear and resisted temptation at Graham Russell Drums. Ben’s off to Greece and went to see his old band, Oxygen Thief, play in Bristol. Enjoy! Support George and support the ‘no-burp petition’! While Ben talks about his grip and prep for an upcoming dep gig George has ended his summer run of gigs with a windy performance on Eastbourne bandstand and has parted ways with his childhood cymbals. Bad ears and good eyes are first on the agenda this week but which one of us has a swollen ear and which one has the eyes of a fighter pilot? George steals some sticks from Newcastle and Ben has set up his mega kit with the Yamaha Hexrack and reskinned all 6 toms. We also discuss what’s the minimum info required to say yes to a gig. Enjoy! While Ben’s been pushing back on rumours about his mum’s demise, George has been back on the road up to Scotland via Birmingham and Newcastle and invested in some drum mics. Ben has finally completed his Yamaha Stage Custom mega kit thanks to the guys at Rubix Drums in London (and no thanks to James Gillingham). Enjoy! On this week’s show we’re talking playing football with the ‘bigger boys’, Ben’s new sofa has arrived and George has played a gig at another castle. Ben also came home with a load of free drum gear from the tip and George has got the bug to add more toms to his kit. Also the new single from Archie Mac featuring Ben on drums, trombone and trumpet is out now (link below). After a little dig at the nerds from Q.I. George tells us about his best gig ever including setting up his kit on a wheeled drum riser. We’ve also both been busy with wedding gigs featuring walking in on someone taking a shit and a groom with an upcoming court case. Enjoy! This week we are joined by the awesome Kurt Phillips! Not everything is plain sailing as a drummer as Kurt tells us about toilet emergencies during Panto and playing a show with kidney stones. We also chat about studying at ACM, his love of hybrid rudiments and creating a monster of a set up for his work with Wyse. There’s also auditioning to be the Milky Bar Kid and getting a tattoo in an unusual place. George tells us about the highs of playing at BOXPARK Wembley and the lows of being ill and having a panic attack at a festival in Aberdeen. This week we are joined by the fantastic Mr. Jacob Andrews! He has been tearing up the stages with his nu-metal revival band Profiler along with lots of session work and in quite the contrast an ABBA tribute band! We chat about playing open handed, diving into jazz and traditional grip and his recent trip to the studio to record three new Profiler songs. Ben’s been busy in the studio playing drums and trombone for a few artists and George managed to complete a double gig day on Saturday playing two festivals despite one house kit not having a drum mat. Tut tut. We also chat a fair bit about exercise as Ben ups his efforts after being in his words ‘fucked’ during a gig a few weeks back. Enjoy! On this week’s show there’s some big magpie news, find out how Ben navigated his gig and the England game and George had a double gig day thrown into chaos by car trouble. Enjoy! Come on England! We’re both a bit tired after staying up to watch England VS Mexico and an early start for Ben on Monday for his MOT didn’t help matters. We also talk about George’s gigs with the ‘Lainey Lot’ in the Midlands, navigating England VS Norway on Saturday as we both have gigs and Ben’s clients making things even more difficult by not wanting half the band's repertoire. George has had a busy few days playing the Isle Of Wight Festival (supported by The Cure) then up to Cambridge to play some summer balls with an ABBA tribute band with some ridiculous stage times. Ben drops some celebrity interactions and takes a trip on the M25 plus there’s a magpie update. Enjoy! We’ve got some more listener correspondence about dealing with sound limiters and Ben’s been watching almost all of the World Cup. George went to Cambridge for the weekend to play a festival but the highlight wasn’t spending time with his girlfriend, it was bumping into Big John! Enjoy and bosh! Ben’s not dead! He just had a very important phone call and due to that we recorded this week’s episode in person at Little Piggy Studios. George has been to the dentist and there’s another dead bird on Ben’s property. We also talk about George’s struggles with a sound limiter and his good festival gigs and Ben being asked to perform a very unreasonable request at a wedding. Enjoy! We start this week’s episode with a cracking listener email and George tells about his recent run of festivals; from crappy hardware, chicken wing eating contests to being on the jumbo screen. Ben’s had some tricky logistics, lots of driving and witnessed some drama at the van hire place. Enjoy!
