Dot-Lee Productions

Mark Lee

Dot-Lee Productions is producing full-cast audio dramas, written and directed by Mark Lee.

I started this project to prove to myself that I could write, direct and edit an audio drama, accomplishing my dream of bringing to life a story I've wanted to tell for a long time. I quickly fell in love with the process!

I have plans to create a variety of horror and comedy dramas, with a couple different shows currently in production. There is one thing all my stories will have in common: a love of the North of England. Each story I tell will be set in or around Whiston and Prescot, just outside of Liverpool: the places where I grew up!

When I was a kid, I loved fiction in all its forms: whether it was books, radio dramas, films or television... But I was always a bit gutted that the places I knew never seemed to feature. And when locals did appear in films and television, it was often in a negative light! They were the villains, the joke character, or someone to be looked down on. They were the villain in the new Hellboy film, or the horrible kid in Disco Elysium... (Don't get me started on the lad from Saltburn saying "I'm from Prescot"... no you're not, lad, don't lie!)

I wanted to change that. I wanted to tell stories set in the places I grew up, featuring the people and communities I know, and show that there is a lot of potential in telling stories set around here! There's a lot more to the locals than our few mentions in fiction would lead you to believe!
