Jason Dohring on Veronica Mars, Leaving Hollywood, Farming & Scientology | DDN Ep 50
You know him as Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars. What you might not know is that Jason Dohring walked away from Hollywood and started Farms. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, actor Jason Dohring opens up about his career and his faith. He shares what made Veronica Mars so special, why he loves playing the "bad guy," the craft secret that separates great actors from good ones ("it's literally their ideas"), and stories from working alongside people like Kristen Bell and meeting John Travolta. He also talks about his late father, Doug Dohring, the man behind Neopets and ABCmouse, and what he learned from him about hard work and treating people well. But the heart of the conversation is how Scientology shaped his life. Jason describes reading L. Ron Hubbard's essay on professionalism at 17 and deciding to be a pro at whatever he did, the counseling at 13 that made him stop mistreating his brothers, and the Student Hat course that finally taught him how to learn (which is how he now teaches himself everything from acting to farming). He gets into The Way to Happiness, the kids' courses that calmed his household, and the tools that he says made him a better husband over 25 years and a better dad. Then there's the farm. Jason breaks down why he believes food is making people sick, and how he's growing chemical-free fruit through regenerative farming, no spraying, 40 kinds of mango, and a lot of hard-won knowledge about soil, trees, and doing it the right way.
