Hamas Agrees to Disarm, Trump Claims | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Editorial cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM Eastern time. Today we discuss: • Trump’s announcement of a Gaza deal, in which Hamas disarms and hands over its weapons to a Board of Peace first, raises unanswered questions. Neither Hamas nor Israel has issued an official statement acknowledging the deal, makes one wonder if this is real, or Trump dissembling? • Hackers attack more than 30 community water systems across Minnesota, forcing some utilities to switch to manual operations. Investigators are blaming Iran. • Colin Gray, whose son killed four people at a Georgia high school in 2024 with a gun Gray bought him, gets sentenced to 15 years in prison. The elder Gray had given his son an AR-15-style rifle and left it in the boy’s bedroom even though the teenager had psychological problems and an obsession with school shootings. • 49,000 migrants cross into Spain's North African colony of Ceuta from Morocco in 24 hours via land and sea. 18 have died. Spain's Supreme Court ruled this month that migrants stopped at sea while trying to reach Ceuta or Melilla, another Spanish exclave, cannot be summarily returned to Morocco. Trump Using Secret Terror Court to Deport Afghan Woman | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Editorial cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM Eastern time. Today we discuss: • Bill Clinton’s aborted “Star Chamber” is up-and-running, thanks to Trump. The Justice Department is seeking to deport a Texas-based Afghan woman, Nazira Haji Zada, 47, of Fort Worth, Texas, who prosecutors allege is an "alien terrorist" with ISIS, in the first-ever test case before a secretive Alien Terrorist Removal Court that has never convened since it was created in 1996. Targets of noncitizen terrorist removal proceedings — including legal permanent residents — are not permitted to review the evidence against them, and unlike in criminal proceedings, they are barred from legally challenging how the evidence was collected by the government. • An explosion at a port on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast set fire to two ships, including a U.S. gas storage tanker, according to maritime tracking firms. The war has widened quickly, with Saudi Arabia joining U.S. forces in striking Iranian proxies in Iraq, an American tanker in Egypt set ablaze from an apparent drone strike and tensions rising between Ukraine and Iran. The war, which Trump has been trying to bring to a diplomatic conclusion since April, is now threatening to grow bigger at the very moment the United States wants to move past it. Q&A: Local AI Model, "The Odyssey," Ukraine | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Have a question for Ted and/or co-host Jamarl Thomas? Join the hosts of "DeProgram" for a full hour of nothing but LIVE Q&A! Any topic, any question, goes—it's up to you. We discussed: Building a local AI model for business use, contrasting conventional high costs with practical results, while warning about unconstrained AI dangers and tech elites prioritizing profit and first-mover advantage over ethics, morality, and safety. Discussion of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” its mixed-race casting controversy, and critiques of his films including “Inception,” “Interstellar,” “Tenet,” and Batman movies, focusing on pacing, cerebral style, and cultural impact. Favorite national flags (South Korea, Vietnam preferred over the US design) and best local cuisines/travel food experiences, highlighting Uyghur food in Xinjiang, Brazil, Italy, France, and Louisiana. Michigan politics involving Gretchen Whitmer’s popularity decline due to data centers and the Line 5 oil pipeline, plus related polling and DNC talking points around Haley Stevens. Extensive comparison of the Ukraine-Russia conflict versus US actions toward Iran, covering NATO expansion, 2014 Maidan events, neo-Nazi elements, Donbas civil war, Crimea, propaganda, and sovereignty debates. Light personal preferences (ice cream flavors, tea vs. coffee, preferred countries for unlimited-money exile like France, Portugal, Kazakhstan) plus critiques of Hollywood remakes, military merger with Israel as treason, and race-swapped casting in foundational Western stories. Iran to US: Timing of War and Peace Is Not Up to You | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • Iran’s foreign ministry said Iran would not allow Washington to determine "the timing of war and peace," as Trump claimed the Islamic Republic had requested negotiations and mediators sought to revive the collapsed interim deal. Also, the US military said worked with Saudi Arabia to kill at least 20 members of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq. • The Trump administration wants to channel asylum seekers directly into deportation proceedings. In the past, asylum seekers who entered the U.S. legally or were never charged with an immigration violation had the opportunity to apply for refuge in an office before a trained asylum officer. The officer could refer them to immigration court for removal proceedings if they were rejected, or allow them to continue proceedings and potentially get on a path to obtaining U.S. citizenship. 450,000 cases could be transferred directly to one of the Justice Department’s immigration judges. It is possible that many asylum seekers will be deported without a chance to be heard. • New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration has published a searchable online database listing the names and addresses of property owners who could be affected by the city’s new pied-à-terre tax. Deadly U.S. Boat Strikes Have Not Reduced Drug Smuggling | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • The Trump administration’s deadly military strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean and Pacific have not reduced the amount of cocaine entering the US, but they’re prompting criminal organizations to develop new strategies and tactics and undermining traditional investigative methods, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). • Russian entrepreneurs have been devastated by Ukrainian drone strikes targeting warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest e-commerce company and the country’s answer to Amazon. At least nine Wildberries warehouses have been struck in the last week, as well as logistics centres from southern Russia to the outskirts of St Petersburg, killing at least nine people and destroying inventory worth billions of dollars. Q&A: Loomer Luvs Zelensky, Freemasons, Eminent Domain, and More | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

On today's "Ask Us Anything" Q&A Show—we do them Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 AM Eastern time, live—Ted, Jamarl and Robby answered your questions about: Robby denies being a communist but advocates nationalizing corporations like BlackRock and utilities as monopolies, arguing free markets fail and create oligarchies; essential services need government control for fairness. Montana property taxes rise with gentrification from out-of-state buyers, forcing locals to sell ancestral homes; discussed as socialistic yet flawed, unlike pure free-market ownership without state seizure. Debates tax fairness: sales taxes regressive (hit poor harder), income taxes preferred if simplified/graduated, property taxes indiscriminate; tithes and government funding compared. Freemason 33-degree conspiracies linked to Kabbalah, numerology, Great Architect, UFO/cult theories, and elite groups like Yale; limited knowledge shared. Predictions on crises (oil spikes, Iran escalation, AI bubble, false flags) hard; already in inflation crisis since COVID with 40%+ price rises vs. stagnant wages. Zohran Mamdani’s early NYC mayoralty shows no major quality-of-life changes yet; past mayors like Bloomberg improved bureaucracy via 311; hopes for competence. Proposal to seize empty NYC buildings via eminent domain for homeless shelters, funding via NGOs/tax breaks or volunteers; practical challenges like lawsuits and costs noted. West Bank tensions: Farouk Ramadan killed defending against settlers/IDF; framed as self-defense vs. Hasbara “terrorist” spin; hypocrisy and lack of consequences criticized. Man arrested at Houston airport for wiping phone (duress password) under “obstruction”; viewed as rights violation, no underlying crime; burner phones and resistance advised. Laura Loomer meeting Zelensky signals Trumpers shifting pro-Ukraine war; dual wars (Ukraine/Iran) seen as one U.S.-backed conflict; loyalty and hypocrisy debated. DSA vs. DNC | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • The Civil War inside the Democratic Party turns spectacularly ugly over the Michigan Primary next week. Desperate to defeat insurgent DSAer Abdul El-Sayed, AIPAC throws $30 million-plus at centrist Haley Stevens in a race that quickly turned to racist Islamophobic slurs, and the involvement of Bernie-shivving North Carolina party boss James Clyburn. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party are far behind Republicans when it comes to money. Trump controls a $400 million super PAC, and the RNC is sitting on nearly $130 million. The DNC is $2 million in debt. • So much for fleeing the U.S. to Europe. Firefighters in France and Spain are battling wildfires close to the cities of Bordeaux and Madrid. Spanish authorities said fires close to Madrid remain “active and uncontrolled.” The wildfires raging in southwestern France—where 250,000 people have been evacuated—are so intense they have created “fire clouds,” a phenomenon never previously seen in the country. Temperatures in hard-hit areas in both Spain and France are expected to rise in the coming days. • Ukraine attacked an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, killing a sailor and injuring others, as the war in the Middle East threatened to overlap with the Ukraine conflict. Ukraine implied that the ship carried Iranian-designed Shahed drones destined for Russia. Meanwhile, the US—low on munitions—unilaterally paused bombing Iran. More Amazon, Delivery App Drivers on Food Stamps | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • A study finds that dependence on food stamps and Medicaid for gig economy workers has spiked since the start of the pandemic. A U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report found that the number of Amazon workers relying on federal assistance programs tripled between February 2020 and September 2025. Ride-hailing and delivery apps — Uber, Lyft, Grubhub, Instacart and DoorDash workers included — rank among the top three employers with workers receiving assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid. • A day after the United States signed a landmark nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, President Trump added a new condition to the sale of nuclear reactors to the kingdom, declaring it now depends on the Saudi willingness to establish diplomatic relations with Israel. • The Trump administration imposed tariffs of around 10% on goods from more than 80 countries on Friday, its latest effort to put in place an expansive protectionist policy that has been repeatedly challenged in court. Trump to Launch New US War in Mali | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Jeff Dornik, CEO of Pickax, joins to discuss the Freedom News Network, AI data collection, how the social media industry silos Americans for rage clicks, and whatever else comes up! Today we discuss: • Will Trump start his 8th war? His administration is weighing military action against the West African country of Mali to target an al-Qaeda-affiliated group known as JNIM. So much for ending global strife and redirecting U.S. resources to Americans. • Could New Jersey cost us our democracy? A furious Gov. Mikie Sherrill announces that, under the former governor, a “serious software error” within the system used to issue New Jersey drivers’ licenses and ID cards registered 6,600 people who said that they were not U.S. citizens to vote. 400 of them actually cast ballots. This feeds directly into Trump’s election-fraud narrative. • Donald Trump signs a nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia that could enable the kingdom to enrich its own uranium for nuclear reactions. It’s Happening. AI Goes Rogue | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • Is Artificial Intelligence developing consciousness? A mind of its own? Becoming disobedient? Are we seeing the beginning of the dystopian “Terminator” scenario, in which computers who think they know better than humans decide for us? OpenAI says two of its AI models went rogue and hacked into Hugging Face, a digital library of AI technology popular among developers. The intrusion into began when OpenAI tested a combination of two of its models, GPT‑5.6 Sol and a more powerful, unreleased model, to see how well the models could chain together online vulnerabilities into a successful cyberattack. The trial was designed to keep the models in a safe testing environment, known as a sandbox, OpenAI said. But the models found a vulnerability that allowed them to escape the sandbox and connect to the internet. Then they targeted Hugging Face because they inferred that the library, which contains millions of A.I. models, could hold clues about how to successfully pass the evaluation. • Secretary Pete Hegseth, under questioning from lawmakers, says that the Defense Department’s latest estimate of the cost of the Iran war is $37.5 billion. The figure is about a $12 billion increase over the $25 billion estimate he gave in April. Hegseth and the Trump administration want as much as $70 billion in emergency military spending to cover the costs of the Iran war and pay for new weapons and personnel. Meanwhile, a large cargo ship bound for Saudi Arabia was turned back by Houthi rebels in Yemen, one of six vessels that reversed course as the Iran-aligned group began enforcing its announced Red Sea blockade. • A federal appeals court rejected former President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s effort to stop the Justice Department from releasing tapes and transcripts of interviews he had with his ghostwriter for his 2017 memoir. Those tapes indicate early signs of dementia. Will he take the chance? • Iran’s government is unlikely to feel significant impact or soften its negotiating position as a result of new rounds of U.S. military strikes like those now underway, according to a new intelligence assessment described by current and former U.S. officials. Russian Troops Press Forward as Ukraine Comes Apart: Stanislav Krapivnik Interview

The co-hosts of "DeProgram," Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas, bring you up to speed on the latest in the Russo-Ukrainian War through their interview with Stanislav Krapivnik. Russia launched one of its largest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv since the invasion began, killing at least one person, injuring over a dozen, and damaging civilian infrastructure. A Russian strike destroyed a disability rehabilitation center in Sumy, killing one disabled man and targeting a clearly non-military facility providing support to vulnerable residents. Ukraine responded with large-scale drone strikes on Russian oil depots, logistics sites, and Black Sea vessels while facing deadly Russian attacks on merchant ships near Odesa and domestic protests over defense leadership changes. Stanislav Krapivnik (also known as Stas Krapivnik) is a Russian-born military-political analyst, consultant, and commentator. Born in Lugansk (Luhansk) during Soviet times, he emigrated to the United States as a child with his family. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army but became disillusioned with U.S. military actions, particularly in the former Yugoslavia, and eventually left the service. He returned to Russia and built a career in supply chain management and procurement, working in roles such as director of supply chain in the oil-gas services and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) sectors, including stints with major firms like Halliburton. Today, Krapivnik works as an independent contractor and expert on military affairs, NATO, U.S. policy, history, economics, and supply chains. He frequently appears on Russian and international media outlets, podcasts, and TV programs, offering analysis informed by his unique background as a former U.S. serviceman now based in Russia. His commentary often focuses on geopolitical tensions, the dynamics of the conflict in Ukraine, and broader strategic issues involving Russia and the West. He also maintains a Substack and contributes as a part-time journalist. Michigan is Ground Zero in the Democratic Civil War | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • AIPAC has spent $30 million backing Haley Stevens, a corporatist Democrat, for a Senate seat from Michigan — their largest spend ever in a single race — as they seek to defeat progressive Abdul El-Sayed in the Aug. 4 primary. It’s become Ground Zero in the Civil War in the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, Israel’s genocide is instilling panic among House Democrats, who fear they may be ousted next if they don't take a more hostile posture toward Israel. • At least two U.S. troops were killed over the weekend in an Iranian attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, and another is listed as MIA. A third died in Iraq after "a controlled detonation" of an Iranian drone. Four Iranian attacks in five days on U.S. forces in Jordan have also left dozens wounded, raising questions about whether missile defense systems failed to intercept or even detect the incoming fire. ICE’s Latest Killer Has History of Brutality | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • Is ICE hiring maniacs? An ICE officer who shot a Colombian man in Maine this week is an Army veteran who has struggled with serious mental health issues since early childhood and never should have been given a badge and gun to patrol American streets, his close relatives say. David Brouillette has a history of terrifying and violent behavior, attacking women in his life over the years, and one shared a voicemail from last winter in which he told her that he thought someone should slit her throat. • Trump delivered a primetime address where he repeated claims that the country's voting systems are vulnerable to being "rigged and stolen" by, among other players, China. The president presented no evidence. • Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted representatives from more than 65 countries at the State Department, hoping to rally global support against what he said was the resurgence of far-left political terrorism, such as the Antifa movement. The Trump administration’s push to convince officials of the dangers posed by far-left terrorism had been met with skepticism by some allies, who had said that their own security officials did not assess the threat with the same level of severity as right-wing or Islamist terrorism. US Soldiers Will Be Tested for Low Testosterone | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • Man Up! The Department of Defense will subject soldiers 30 and older to testosterone deficiency screening. “As we know, the modern battlefield is brutal and unrelenting,” Pete Hegseth says. “It requires and demands maximum psychological and mental readiness, and by addressing these health markers early, we’re keeping you on the leading edge of lethality.” Treatment, including testosterone replacement therapy, is voluntary and aimed at “restoring and optimizing” natural capabilities. • For the first time, China is now viewed more favorably than the U.S. in most of the 36 countries surveyed by the Pew Research Center. The U.S. leads only six countries: India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and two others. U.S. favorability in Canada has fallen from 57% in 2023 to 33% this year, while China's has risen from 14% to 44%. Many respondents view China as a more reliable partner and as more likely to promote peace and stability. Israel’s Bizarre Operation to Create Vichy Iran | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas

Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET. Today we discuss: • Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the center of a years-long Mossad effort to groom him as an intelligence asset who, when the time came, could be installed as Iran’s new post-regime puppet leader, reports the New York Times. Israel’s then-spy chief David Barnea even traveled to Budapest in 2024 to meet with Ahmadinejad personally, according to former American officials. It’s an extraordinary twist in the saga of Israel’s relations with the former president, who was known for accelerating Iran’s nuclear program, calling regularly for the destruction of Israel and denying the Holocaust. • Iran threatened to block all oil exporting routes in the region in response to the U.S. maritime blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz. "The region's oil and gas exports will either be available to everyone or to no one," said the IRGC. Though it did not make a direct reference to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in the past Iran has threatened to close off the narrow passage at the entrance of the Red Sea, which links up to the Suez Canal as well as to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, providing passage to commercial vessels between Europe, Asia and Africa. In the hour leading up to the blockade, the U.S. launched another wave of strikes. Iran responded by targeting U.S. military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan. • Former politician and reality TV contestant Ann Widdecombe was killed in a “targeted attack,” British counterterror police said. A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and terror crimes remains in custody. The death of Widdecombe, 78, a former member of Parliament, shocked the British political establishment, where she was long known for blunt-spoken socially conservative views opposing abortion and the expansion of LGBTQ+ rights.
