The Lore of the Tarrasque | D&D Legends and Lore Episode 50
In Dungeons and Dragons, a monster is defined as any creature that can be interacted with and potentially fought and killed. Even something as harmless as a frog or as benevolent as a unicorn is a monster by this definition. An obstacle to overcome. An interactable entity to fill in an imaginary world. And sometimes, a monster is a metaphor. But one monster, more than any other, represents the awe and terror humanity can feel before the forces of nature. It represents the inevitability of every person, society, and culture's ultimate futility against the eternity of time and and the insignificance of our power, ambition, or potential. The inevitable end and our inability to stop that end from coming. I am of course speaking of the Tarrasque. The greatest of all monsters.
