Chemistry Can Be a Terrible Dating Coach | Reality Talk

We've all been told to look for the spark. The butterflies. The instant chemistry. That feeling that makes your heart race and your mind obsess. But what if we've been confusing chemistry with compatibility? In this episode of Reality Talk, we're exploring why chemistry can sometimes lead us straight into unhealthy relationships—and why calm, consistent love can feel surprisingly unfamiliar if we've spent years chasing emotional highs. We'll talk about: ✨ Why butterflies aren't always a sign of love ✨ The difference between chemistry and compatibility ✨ How our nervous system can mistake anxiety for attraction ✨ The spiritual difference between a soul connection and a healthy relationship ✨ Why peace may be the sexiest thing you'll ever feel One of the biggest lessons I've learned is this: I don't chase sparks anymore. I pay attention to patterns. Because anyone can create chemistry. Character creates lasting love. I'd love to hear from you in the comments: Have you ever had incredible chemistry with someone who turned out to be completely wrong for you? Or did a relationship that started slowly become one of the healthiest loves of your life? Let's have an honest conversation. I Went to a Singles Event at 64… Here’s What I Learned About Dating After 50

What happens when you stop going into dating situations hoping to be chosen and start paying attention to how you feel? I went to a rooftop singles event for people in their 50s and 60s and decided to practice exactly what I teach: stay open, check in with my nervous system, have meaningful conversations, and let go of the outcome. Two men asked for my number, but that wasn't the biggest win of the night. The real win was realizing how good it feels to date from confidence, curiosity, and self-trust instead of wondering, “Does he like me?” In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, I'm sharing what surprised me, what I learned about attraction and snap judgments, and why I'm changing the way I define a “successful” dating experience. When Should You Have Sex? Dating After 50 Gets Complicated

Three dates? 90 days? Whenever it feels right? Dating after 50 may come with more experience, but that doesn’t mean we’ve figured out the sex question. In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, we’re having a fun, candid conversation about sex, chemistry, boundaries, the 90-day dating idea, and why urgency around sex may be something worth paying attention to. Because maybe the better question isn’t, “How long should I wait?” Maybe it’s: “Do I know enough about this person to take intimacy to the next level?” No judgment. No outdated rules. Just a smart, grown-up conversation about attraction, self-trust, and choosing intimacy because you genuinely want it, not because you’re afraid of losing someone.

What If "The One" Doesn't Exist? | Reality Talk

We've all heard the fairy tale... Somewhere out there is "The One." Your soulmate. Your perfect match. The person you're destined to spend forever with. But what if we've misunderstood what that really means? In this episode of Dating After 50: Reality Talk, I'm sharing why my perspective on soulmates, destiny, and lasting love has changed over the years. We'll explore what psychology says about healthy relationships, why believing in "The One" can sometimes create unnecessary pressure, and how my spiritual beliefs have evolved through years of intuitive work and life experience. I still believe in soul connections. I still believe certain people enter our lives for a reason. But I also believe that love isn't just something we find... It's something we choose, nurture, and build together. If you've ever wondered whether soulmates are real, questioned why some relationships don't last, or found yourself asking, "Did I miss my chance?"—this conversation is for you. ❤️ I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments: Do you believe in "The One"? Has your perspective changed over the years? Do you believe we have one soulmate... or many meaningful soul connections throughout our lives? Let's have an honest conversation. Stop Treating Singles Over 50 Like We're Old!

Have you noticed that most singles events are either designed for people in their 20s and 30s... or they assume that once you're over 50, all you want to do is visit museums and attend afternoon lectures? In this episode of Dating After 50, we're talking about the dating industry's biggest blind spot: vibrant, active singles over 50 who still want to dance, laugh, flirt, travel, and meet new people in fun, energetic ways. Because here's the truth... Many of us don't want to spend every Friday night at a wine tasting or the symphony. Some of us want live music, rooftop happy hours, dancing, pickleball, comedy clubs, festivals, and places where real conversations happen naturally. Let's talk about why the dating world seems to overlook us, why it's time to challenge those outdated stereotypes, and what we can do to create something better. ❤️ I'd love to hear from you! If you could design the perfect singles event for people over 50, what would it be? A dance party? Live music? A travel club? A cooking class? A rooftop happy hour? Tell me in the comments! And here's another idea... If you're in Chicago—or wherever you live—and you'd actually come to a fun singles event for people over 50, put your city in the comments. I want to see where this community is. Who knows? Maybe this channel will become the place where we start making these events happen. If you enjoy honest conversations about dating, relationships, confidence, and creating an amazing second half of life, I'd love for you to subscribe and join our community. #DatingAfter50 #SinglesOver50 #DatingAdvice #Over50Dating #Relationships #WomenOver50 #DatingCommunity #LoveAfter50 #ActiveAdults #RobinRichardson

Love Is Blind After 50: Would the Pods Actually Make Dating Better?

What if Love Is Blind created a season just for singles over 50? The UK season got Robin thinking: Would dating actually be easier if we couldn't see each other first? No dating profile. No carefully chosen photos. No height listed. No job title. No immediate decision about whether someone is your "type." Just conversation. In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, Robin imagines what Love Is Blind: 50+ might actually look like—and why the experiment could reveal some surprising truths about the way we date later in life. Because by 50, 60 and beyond, we're not simply looking for someone attractive. We're bringing entire lives into a relationship: marriages, divorces, adult children, careers, finances, homes, families, heartbreak, healing and decades of experiences that have shaped who we've become. So maybe the question isn't simply, "Is love blind?" Maybe it's: Have our dating filters become so specific that we're eliminating potentially wonderful partners before we've ever had the chance to know them? Robin explores the difference between standards and preferences, why our longtime "type" may not actually be compatible with the relationship we want, and why emotional attraction deserves as much attention as physical chemistry. Plus, we're heading into Robin's imaginary Love Is Blind: 50+ pods with 10 questions that reveal far more about a potential partner than asking about their favorite restaurant or vacation destination. You'll hear questions like: What did your last relationship teach you about yourself? What happens when you're hurt or angry with someone you love? How much independence do you need in a relationship? What does an ordinary Tuesday look like in your life? And what are you hoping the next 20 years of your life actually feel like? This episode isn't about lowering your standards or pretending physical attraction doesn't matter. It's about learning the difference between the qualities that protect your well-being and the preferences that protect the picture you've created in your head. Because maybe the person who could become an extraordinary partner isn't always the person you'd choose from six photographs and a three-sentence dating profile. The question Robin leaves you with: If you couldn't see the person standing on the other side of the wall, what would make you choose them? And are those the same qualities you're prioritizing in your dating life right now? Robin explores Love Is Blind through the lens of dating after 50, why attraction and compatibility aren't the same thing, the difference between relationship standards and dating preferences, how our "type" can keep us repeating old patterns, why lifestyle compatibility becomes increasingly important later in life, the questions singles over 50 should actually be asking, and how to recognize healthy love without abandoning chemistry. Would YOU go on Love Is Blind: 50+? And if you were sitting in the pods, what's the ONE question you'd have to ask before those doors opened? Share your answer and join the conversation. Use it to get out of the overthinking spiral, come back to yourself and date with more clarity, confidence and self-trust. Dating After 50 with Robin is about dating from your power—not trying to convince someone to choose you, but becoming deeply rooted in yourself so you can recognize and choose healthy love.

What Do You Bring to the Table? Why I Hate This Dating Question After 50

BONUS Episode “What do you bring to the table?” If you've been dating lately, you've probably heard this question — or some version of it. And I have to tell you: I hate it. Because when did dating become a job interview? Do I need to bring my résumé? References? A list of accomplishments? Should I prepare a PowerPoint explaining why I'd make an excellent girlfriend? In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, we're unpacking what's really underneath the “What do you bring to the table?” conversation — because wanting reciprocity in a relationship is healthy. Making someone audition for your approval isn't. And there's an important difference. We’ll talk about why dating can start to feel transactional, what men may actually be trying to communicate when they ask this question, and the ways women sometimes conduct their own version of the relationship interview without realizing it. More importantly, we're replacing “What do you bring?” with questions that tell you much more about someone's capacity for a healthy relationship. Can they communicate when things get uncomfortable? Can they apologize? Can they respect a boundary? Can they disagree without punishing you? Can they be vulnerable? Can they show up consistently? And who are they when the relationship isn't easy? Because after 50, your value isn't your house, your career, your body, your bank account, how well you cook, or how impressive your life looks on paper. It's how you show up in a relationship. And here's the other thing I want women dating after 50 to remember: You already have a table. You've spent decades building a life, relationships, friendships, experiences, wisdom, independence and, hopefully, a deeper relationship with yourself. You're not dating because you need somebody to give you a seat at his table. You're discovering whether two already-established lives can create something beautiful together. In this episode, we're talking about how to stop asking: “Does he think I'm good enough?” and start asking: “Do I like who I am around this person?” Because dating after 50 isn't about auditioning, chasing, proving or convincing. It's about self-trust, discernment and choosing well. You'll hear about why “What do you bring to the table?” can feel so transactional, what emotionally mature daters should ask instead, why reciprocity is different from keeping score, how both men and women can unknowingly turn dates into interviews, what someone's behavior tells you that their résumé never will, and why the most important question may be: “What could we create together?” Research from the Pew Research Center on the experiences of adults 50+ with online dating, including differences between men's and women's experiences. Relationship insights from The Gottman Institute around emotional intelligence, communication, boundaries, self-awareness and maintaining a healthy sense of self within a partnership. Research on Living Apart Together (LAT) relationships among older adults and the importance some later-life couples place on independence and autonomy. Have you ever had someone ask you: “What do you bring to the table?” How did it make you feel? And what's one dating question you absolutely cannot stand? I'd love to hear it — because your question may inspire an upcoming episode of Dating After 50 with Robin. You don't have to convince someone you're worthy of love. You're not interviewing for the position of girlfriend. You're observing. You're discovering. You're deciding too. And you don't need someone to give you a seat at their table. You've already built your own. The real question is whether the two of you can create something even better together. Dating After 50 with Robin Robin Richardson | Your Psychic Girlfriend

Stop Trying to Make Him Fall for You: The Dating Advice Women Over 50 Need to Question

Have you ever watched a dating video and thought, "Something about this just doesn't sit right with me..."? That's exactly what happened when I came across a popular video about the "womanly gestures" that supposedly make a man fall in love. Here's the thing... it wasn't the advice itself that bothered me. It was the message underneath it. For decades, many of us were taught that our job was to make relationships work by being more understanding, more patient, more nurturing, and somehow more "appealing." But what if we've been asking the wrong question all along? Instead of wondering: 💭 How do I make him choose me? What if we started asking: ✨ Is he someone I actually want to choose? In this episode of Dating After 50, we're talking about: Why so much dating advice feels exhausting The difference between authenticity and performance Why emotional reciprocity matters more than "techniques" The questions every woman over 50 should be asking on a date How to date from confidence instead of people-pleasing If you've ever felt like dating has become an audition rather than an opportunity to discover genuine compatibility, this conversation is for you. 👉 https://yourpsychicgirlfriend.com If this episode resonates with you, please like, subscribe, and share it with a friend who's navigating dating after 50. Let's change the conversation from trying to be chosen to choosing wisely. #DatingAfter50 #WomenOver50 #DatingAdvice #DatingOver50 #RelationshipAdvice #SelfWorth #Confidence #HealthyRelationships #EmotionalAvailability #RobinRichardson

The Dating Book Every Woman Over 50 Should Read | No More Assholes Review & Biggest Lessons

What if dating after 50 isn't about finding more people to date—but getting much better at recognizing who is actually capable of building a healthy relationship with you? In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, I'm diving into Chantal Heide's provocative book, No More Assholes: Your 7 Step Guide to Saying Goodbye to Guys and Finding the Real Man You're Looking For. Despite the title, this conversation isn't simply about spotting jerks or creating a giant list of red flags. It's about something much more important: discernment. How do you slow down enough to see who someone really is? How much weight should you give chemistry versus character? Are his actions consistent with his words? Does he communicate—or simply talk at you? Does he respect your boundaries? Is there genuine reciprocity? And is this person actually capable of creating the kind of relationship you're looking for? We'll talk about Heide's approach to vetting potential partners, paying attention to behavior over promises, communicating your needs, maintaining your own life while dating, and giving a relationship enough time to reveal whether attraction is supported by compatibility, integrity and emotional maturity. I'll also share where I agree with Heide—and where I think some of her dating rules deserve a little more nuance, especially when we're dating in our 50s, 60s and beyond. Because at this stage of life, I don't think we need more games, more decoding or more relationships built entirely around chemistry. We need to become better at recognizing healthy love. Love where both people communicate. Love where there's honesty and integrity. Love where conflict can be repaired. Love where you're not constantly wondering where you stand. Love where two emotionally available adults genuinely want to know each other and intentionally build something together. Dating after 50 isn't about convincing someone to choose you. It's about knowing yourself well enough to recognize who deserves access to you—and being open enough to recognize something good when it arrives. Stop Trying to Be Chosen: The Dating Shift Every Woman Over 50 Needs

Stop Trying to Be Chosen: The Dating Shift Every Woman Over 50 Needs Dating advice often tells us to get clear about what we want in a partner. But there’s a question I think matters even more: Who do you want to be when you’re in love — and who are you no longer willing to lose to have it? In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, we’re taking a popular piece of dating advice and going much deeper. Because dating after 50 shouldn’t feel like an audition. You don’t need to walk into a date wondering whether you’re attractive enough, interesting enough, feminine enough, fun enough — or whether he’s going to choose you. The better questions are: Do I like who I am around this person? Can I be myself? Is there reciprocity? Am I actually attracted to him — or am I attracted to being chosen by him? And what is my intuition telling me that my mind may be trying to explain away? We’ll talk about the difference between chemistry and emotional activation, why “good energy” can sometimes become another form of performing, how old relationship patterns follow us into new relationships, and the five questions I believe every woman should ask herself after a first date. Most importantly, we’re talking about how to date without abandoning yourself. Because the goal of dating after 50 isn’t simply to find someone who chooses you. It’s to become so rooted in yourself that you can recognize healthy love — and confidently walk away from what isn’t. I’m Robin Richardson, Your Psychic Girlfriend, and this is Dating After 50 with Robin.

The Guy With the Cheat Sheet: The Dating Green Flag I Needed to See

I saw a TikTok that stopped me in my tracks, in the best possible way. A woman noticed her partner on his phone and asked to see it. He handed it over, and what she found wasn't suspicious. It was adorable. He had a “cheat sheet” of all her favorite things, her favorite color, her orders from different restaurants, and the little details he didn't want to forget. He was embarrassed. She loved it. And so did I. Because with all the dating content about ghosting, breadcrumbing, emotionally unavailable people, and endless red flags, I think some of us need a reminder that good, thoughtful, emotionally available men exist too. I needed to see this. And honestly, I took it as a sign. In this special Dating After 50 bonus episode, we're talking about green flags, what it feels like when someone genuinely pays attention to you, and why healthy love may look a lot quieter than the roller-coaster relationships we've sometimes mistaken for chemistry. Maybe it's time we stop consuming so many stories about disappointing love that we forget to believe in the good stuff. Because dating after 50 isn't just about learning who to avoid. It's also about becoming grounded enough in yourself to recognize something beautiful when it shows up. And yes, I'm officially rooting for the guy with the cheat sheet.

The Rules Were Wrong? What Actually Works in Dating After 50

In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, we're diving into one of the most influential dating books of all time: The Rules. For decades, women were told to play hard to get, wait three days before calling, never text first, and let men do all the pursuing. But did those rules actually work, or did they leave many of us confused, disconnected, and second-guessing ourselves? Inspired by a recent New York Times article revisiting The Rules and exploring modern dating advice, Robin takes a fresh look at what those old-school rules got right, what they got completely wrong, and how dating has evolved. We'll explore: Why The Rules became so popular The hidden wisdom behind some of the original advice The dating games that need to be retired for good Why emotional availability matters more than chemistry How modern dating has shifted toward authenticity and clarity The difference between having standards and building walls Robin's personal "Soul Rules" for dating after 50 If you're tired of trying to decode mixed signals, wondering whether you should text first, or questioning whether you need a strategy to find love, this episode is for you. Why Women Over 50 Don’t Want “Nice Guys” Anymore

What’s the difference between a “nice guy” and a genuinely good man? And why do so many women over 50 stop being impressed by charm, polished words, or performative kindness? In this episode of Dating After 50 with Robin, Robin Richardson (Your Psychic Girlfriend) shares a powerful insight inspired by a young male TikTok creator who explained the difference between “nice” and truly good men in a way that deeply resonated across generations. Robin explores: the difference between niceness and character why some kindness feels transactional emotional safety versus emotional performance covert contracts and “nice guy” energy why women over 50 become more discerning nervous system wisdom in dating emotional integrity and healthy masculinity why consistency matters more than charm later in life This episode is not about criticizing men. It’s about helping women recognize the difference between: attention and intention politeness and emotional maturity charm and integrity chemistry and emotional safety If you’ve ever felt: “He says all the right things, but something feels off.” “Why do some relationships feel emotionally draining even when the person seems nice?” “Why am I craving peace more than excitement now?” …this episode is for you. Because dating after 50 is no longer about surface-level attraction. It’s about emotional safety, emotional maturity, and recognizing character over performance. For decades, women were taught how to be good partners. Be patient. Be understanding. Be supportive. Don't ask for too much. Keep the peace. Give him space. Sound familiar? But what if some of the relationship advice we've been following was designed for a world that no longer exists? In this episode of Dating After 50, Robin Richardson explores a provocative question inspired by Susan Hyatt's recent reflections on couples therapy: Why are women still being assigned relationship homework? We'll talk about emotional labor, outdated relationship rules, the dating industry, and why so many women over 50 are beginning to question the advice they've been given for decades. This isn't about blaming men. It's about examining the beliefs, expectations, and relationship scripts many of us inherited and asking whether they still serve us. If you've ever wondered why you're exhausted from doing all the work, why modern dating feels different, or why you're no longer willing to settle for "potential," this conversation is for you. Join the discussion: What relationship advice do you no longer believe? What rules are you ready to leave behind? And what does true partnership look like now?
