Do it Justice
We use this expression when a photograph, description, or representation fails to show how beautiful, impressive, or special something really is.
Example:
Imagine you’ve just returned from a trip to a beautiful mountain village.
The scenery was breathtaking. There were little houses surrounded by mountains, narrow streets, and incredible views in every direction.
You show your friend some photographs.
They say:
“Wow! That looks amazing!”
And you reply:
“It really was! But honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice. You have to see it in person.”
