More than 24 years after the death of 13-year-old Christina Long, we revisit the case that devastated her family and shocked Danbury, Connecticut.At the center was Christina Long, a sixth-grade honor student, cheerleader, and altar girl who met 25-year-old Saul Dos Reis through an Internet chat room. On May 17, 2002, Christina met Dos Reis at the Danbury Fair Mall. Three days later, her body was found in a remote ravine in Greenwich after Dos Reis led investigators to her remains. Authorities determined that Christina had been strangled.This episode examines Christina’s life, her interactions with adults she met online, and the investigation that followed her death. We revisit the evidence against Dos Reis, his convictions for manslaughter and sexual assault, and the federal charges stemming from his contact with Christina.
