Naomi Parry - Styling Amy Winehouse & Exploring Creative Legacy
On today’s episode, it’s an honour to welcome to the podcast the multidisciplinary creative Naomi Parry. A creative director, designer and writer who works across music and culture, for over two decades Naomi has worked with brands such as Fred Perry, and has contributed to media and broadcast projects with the BBC, ITV, Vogue and The Guardian to name a few. Naomi is best known for both her personal and professional relationship with Amy Winehouse. She first met Amy in 2005, and worked as her stylist and creative director until her passing her in 2011. She has continued to honour Amy in the years since her death. In 2020, she led "Beyond Black", a full-scale curatorial project that reframed Amy’s legacy and the public narrative surrounding her life. She released an accompanying book of the same name and appeared in the BBC Documentary “Reclaiming Amy” in 2021. On today’s episode, Naomi will discuss her the diverse nature of her work, her experiences working side by side with Amy Winehouse, and will explore the idea of creative legacy. Evanna Lynch - Portraying Luna in "Harry Potter", "Pool (No Water)" & Forming Connection Through Art
Joining Daniel on today’s episode of "Creatively Me" is Irish actress, writer and activist, Evanna Lynch. Evanna’s career began when at fourteen years old she landed the role of Luna Lovegood in the "Harry Potter" film franchise. Beloved by millions of fans around the world for her charming portrayal of the quirky Ravenclaw student, Evanna starred in the final four films of the series. Beyond the walls of Hogwarts School, Evanna’s artistry has continued to grow in compelling and often unexpected ways. In 2021, Evanna released a memoir "The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting: The Tragedy and Glory of Growing Up", where she details personal struggles and her artistic explorations. She’s also a respected activist, particularly on the subject of animal rights. She’s continued to flex her acting muscles in film, both features and shorts, as well as theatre, where she’s undertaken roles in acclaimed productions such as "Disco Pigs" and most recently "Pool (No Water)". During "Pool (No Water)"’s run, a play performed in an empty swimming pool in the Metropole Hotel, through the Everyman Theatre as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, I got the chance to meet with Evanna in person, a conversation I was eagerly anticipating. Across a plethora of different mediums throughout a varied career, Sam has poured creativity and passion into every project to create long lasting impacts. From 2013-2020 Sam hosted the documentary series "Off Camera", where he conducted conversations with stars that include Daniel Radcliffe, Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. As a director for advertisements, he recently directed a series of commercials for "OnePlus" featuring Robert Downey Jr, as well as music videos for artists like the Foo Fighters.
