    A Bar in Every Park

Cheers to you, craft beer drinkers. A hurricane floods Greg's Hawaii hotel, so he ends up in Portugal, where every park has a bar. Flex goes craft beer shopping for a hazy IPA, pours a clear West Coast, and nearly finishes it before the review. Alaskan Brewing's 40th birthday reminds Greg of a pumpkin beer that left him one of the sickest he's ever been. And a White Sox player skips the translator for his locker room interview, where his English is mostly "I'm drunk." Beers We're Drinking: Flex is drinking Dese, Dem & Dose from Hop Butcher for the World, a 6.7% IPA that pours clear. Greg is drinking Super Bock, a 5.2% lager from Portugal that's extremely crushable on a hot day. Listeners wrote in about the things they miss in craft beer: beer trades, black IPAs, and growlers. Greg calls growlers the worst vessel for your beer, yet Russian River growlers still sit on a shelf in his kitchen. He’s also just back from Portugal, the backup trip he planned in about a week after the hurricane took out Kauai. The little kiosks in Lisbon's parks look like information booths and turn out to be bars, so Flex names Portugal the Wisconsin of Europe. Later, news of Alaskan Brewing's 40th brings up the pumpkin beer that wrecked Greg. Shout-out to Vineland, New Jersey, our top listening city. Booze News: Bottle Logic and The Bruery form The Bruery Group. Alaskan Brewing turns 40 with a 40-pack. A fitness company wins the Rogue Ales auction for $2.82 million. Lost Coast Brewery is officially for sale. White Sox player Munetaka Murakami gives a very honest locker room interview. Short Pour #2: Do We Miss...?

Beer trading, bombers, bottle shares, black IPAs, growlers, beer festivals, Untappd, mug clubs, beer dinners, and a whole bunch of other stuff craft beer people used to care about a lot more. Short Pour #1: Beer Time Machine

Greg and Flex jump back to 2016 to look at the beers that ruled craft beer, the ones everyone was chasing, and which “whales” do not feel quite as impossible anymore. Along the way, Flex gets exactly what he loves most: lists. Highlights The #1 beer from every year since 2016 Bell’s Two Hearted and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale absolutely dominating the list Pliny, Electric Jellyfish, and whether hype matches reality The top 10 beers people were chasing in 2016 Dark Lord, Heady Topper, Julius, Utopias, Pliny the Younger, and more Which beers actually felt like whales What once-impossible beers are much easier to get now The beers Greg and Flex wish they could always get Mentioned in the episode Bell’s Two Hearted IPA Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Russian River Pliny the Elder Russian River Pliny the Younger Pinthouse Electric Jellyfish Tree House Julius The Alchemist Heady Topper 3 Floyds Dark Lord 3 Floyds Zombie Dust Samuel Adams Utopias Maine Beer Company Dinner Cigar City Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout Follow your favorite beer podcast on the socials: Flex: Instagram: @flex_me_a_beer Craft Beer Republic: CraftBeerRepublic.com Instagram: @CraftBeerRepublic Facebook: CraftBeerRepublicPod Threads: CraftBeerRepublic Voicemail: (805) 538-2337 Follow & Subscribe: Apple Podcasts Spotify More links

    Eau de Pabst

Welcome in, craft beer besties. Poop Beer Gate lives on thanks to a beer that four grown men agree tastes like hot dog water. Greg thinks breweries need to loosen up, hand out a few splashes, and make craft beer fun again. PBR is working on a beer soap so you can smell like a Milwaukee lake day, which Flex wants absolutely nothing to do with. And Greg meets a guy who brags about drinking for free at a brewery he can't pronounce. Beers We're Drinking: Greg is drinking Watt Strike What from Smog City Brewing, a 6.3% hazy IPA with plenty of citrus and tropical fruit that gets a rare Smog City thumbs-up from Greg. Flex is drinking Ford F***ing Ranger from Young Blood Beer Company, a 6.5% West Coast IPA that's juicy, dry, and tastes a lot better than its sewer-water appearance suggests. Greg has been trying to find decent beer near his hotel, and ChatGPT has twice sent him on some bullshit, including one bottle shop where he questioned whether he and his car were safe. Maybe AI isn't ready to be your beer sherpa. On the brighter side, Deb and Brian's trip to Captain Fatty's gives Greg an idea for making craft beer fun again: talk to customers, hand out a splash, blend a couple beers together, and stop assuming everyone walking into a brewery already knows what they want. Then there's the Trader Joe's cashier who tells Greg he's part German and drinks for free at Enegren, despite being unable to pronounce Enegren. Poop Beer Gate also gets Matt's nomination for the Mount Rushmore of terrible beer: a wheat beer that tasted like hot dog water. Four guys tried it. No one finished it. Booze News: PBR and Dr. Squatch made beer soap for anyone looking to smell like a Milwaukee lake day. Mice, roaches, and sanitation problems temporarily shut down Victory Brewing's Philly taproom. 1,602 cases of beer disappear in California, and PBR puts up a $20,000 reward. A Wyoming DUI suspect tells police he hasn't had “enough” to drink. Blow-Up Beerfest

Welcome in, craft beer friends. Greg is ready to replace Halloween with a giant inflatable beer hall, Flex assigns him beer-and-champagne homework, and Madison Brian discovers a five-dollar German pilsner at Aldi that might actually be worth drinking. Malibu Brewing’s new location is already threatening Greg’s bank account, Flex can’t wait for Halloween, and an alcohol safety class reminds Greg that 21-year-old Greg mainly used responsible-drinking education to figure out how to get drunk faster. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Ghost Vision from Modist Brewing Company, a double dry-hopped hazy IPA with candied mango and a surprisingly light finish. Greg is drinking Oktoberfest from Enegren Brewing Company, a clean, light Bavarian-style lager built for Oktoberfest season. Malibu Brewing finally opened its second location close enough to Greg that he’s already been twice in under two weeks, which feels not-so financially sustainable. The new brunch menu gets Greg thinking about replacing orange juice in a mimosa with a juicy hazy, so Flex assigns him and Intern Brian some beer-champagne science for next week. Madison Bryan calls in from Brookfield with a surprisingly respectable Aldi pilsner, launching another round of lime-beer trauma and memories of Bud Light Lime. Greg then discovers Sam Adams sold a $200 inflatable Oktoberfest beer hall and immediately decides pumpkins, ghosts, witches, and possibly marital harmony can all take a back seat to lederhosen and front-yard beer service. He closes things out by remembering the alcohol safety class that taught his younger self carbonation could speed up alcohol absorption, information he naturally used only for the highest standards of scientific research. Fish Tank Beer

Welcome in, craft beer friends. Greg finds out that a gummy, a couple beers, and a few hours staring at the water can apparently fix a bad week. Flex says he could do the same thing with deer. Listener Steve sends in an oyster stout story that finally finds Flex’s limit, because bull-testicle beer is fine but seafood is where we draw the line. And a Florida man gets pulled over with 34 open White Claws in the passenger seat, which sends us straight into old drinking stories and some truly terrible decisions. Beers We're Drinking: Flex is drinking Citra on the Dock of the Bay from Eagle Park Brewing, an 8% all-Citra New England IPA that gets five daddies. Greg is drinking Thou$ands of Money from Pure Project, a 7.1% murky IPA packed with tropical fruit that lands just under the usual Pure Project greatness for him. Greg spends a few hours sitting on a tiny dock with some beer and a gummy and decides staring at water is pretty great. Apparently Flex’s version of this is watching deer run around, so welcome to Hippie Corner. Listener Steve sends in an oyster stout that tasted like the water from a pet-store goldfish bag, and we finally find a gross beer Flex won’t drink. Elephant poop? Fine. Bull testicles? Sure. Oysters? Absolutely not. Greg threatens to send him one anyway. Then we get into old road soda techniques, including Greg hiding beer in a McDonald’s cup and keeping the straw because you have to sell the disguise. That rolls into Bud Platinum, flavored Smirnoff, raspberry vodka, and Flex learning the hard way that matching someone else’s three-second pull from a vodka bottle is a terrible way to figure out your tolerance. Bad Beer, Great Wi-Fi

Welcome in, craft beer friends. Greg is back at his mid-grade hotel because apparently reliable Wi-Fi requires personal sacrifice, while 14 Cannons trades brewing equipment for pool tables and inspires a questionable business plan involving billiards and strippers. The final gross beer origin story brings vaginal bacteria into the brewery, which immediately gives "from the tap" a whole new meaning. Then Greg and Flex remember the pungent glory of BOD body spray before imagining Belgian cops going full Scrooge McDuck with $10 million in brewery gold. Beers We're Drinking: Flex is drinking Bitrate Fluctuation from Equilibrium Brewery and WeldWerks, an 8.5% double IPA that's six months old, dangerously drinkable, and good enough to earn a four-pack commitment. Greg is drinking 7th Inning Stretch from Trademark Brewing, a 7% West Coast IPA that's light, dry, easy-drinking, and hiding peel-off baseball card stickers on the can. Greg continues the world's worst camping trip, choosing the same mid-grade hotel every recording night strictly because the Wi-Fi doesn't suck. Then comes the apparent transformation of 14 Cannons, where brewing equipment made way for pool tables and Flex learns his instinct to keep beer at a brewery is apparently why he'll never be a businessman. Scott's gross origin story series reaches its grand finale with a Polish beer made using cultured vaginal bacteria, prompting immediate questions about sourcing, board meetings, and drinking it "from the tap." That jogs loose memories of BOD body spray. The $10 million brewery gold discovery also has Greg and Flex picturing cops swimming through the evidence like Scrooge McDuck, while a Delaware driver's revenge on a pub earns the simple strategy of, "You kick me out, I kick you in." Kegs in the Sun

You love craft beer? Welcome. This week, Greg gets blacklisted for not liking fruited IPAs, listener Dan has a skunky beer story that ends hot, and Flex reminisces about the days of Beechwood aging. Greg talks about his upcoming tattoo appointment, and Flex gives him an assignment and beer hunt. A guy has a mid-life crisis and fights with a bouncer at a strip club, his buddy steals his wallet, and Boston Beer is looking to saturate the market with apple spice. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking Cosmic Little Thing IPA from Sierra Nevada, an 8% hazy double IPA with citrus, cotton candy vibes, and suspiciously easy drinkability. Flex is drinking Orange Cream Double Marbles from More Brewing Company, an orange-and-vanilla milkshake double IPA that lands squarely in dessert-beer territory. Greg is living the worst camping trip of his life in a hotel, while Portland comes in hot with the download numbers. They also have quite the food scene. We see you, Portland! Greg talks about his trip to a brewery where he made the beertender mad by passing on the fruity IPA. Listener Dan writes in to tell us about his #poopbeer, a skunky, warm beer that was being stored outdoors in 95-degree heat. Flex confesses his love for Beechwood aging and wants a romantic trip with Greg to the land of Clydesdales. Greg talks about his upcoming tattoo appointment, and Flex gives him some homework he probably won’t complete. Booze News: JuneShine is closing its Santa Monica and Scripps Ranch tasting rooms. Samuel Adams joins fall beer season with a new Apple Spice Ale. Tilray is ending brewing operations at Terrapin’s Athens brewery. A drunk Crazy Horse customer fights a bouncer, then his “friend” takes his wallet. Band-Aid Beer Science

Welcome in, craft beer friends. Greg is forced to conduct some impromptu beer science after his first can comes up full Band-Aid. Flex is ready to start a Super Troopers podcast after watching the second movie. There’s a trip to an over-the-top tiki bar, new Bourbon County desserts, and a 160-year-old booze cruise found stocked full of Guinness. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Shredneck DDH Double IPA from Drekker Brewing, a juicy double IPA loaded with citrus. Greg is drinking Dictionary Roulette, a Hazy IPA from Brewery X that turns into an unexpected can-by-can experiment. Flex finally watched *Super Troopers 2* and is ready to give up craft beer and turn this into a *Super Troopers* podcast, right meow! A new podcast review from a listener gets a little attention, and Greg and Flex get into gross beer origin stories with a smoky mushroom offering from Jester King. The Hemporer’s New Beer

Hey, craft beer friends! Flex willingly returns to the scene of a beer-related trauma and finds out that watermelon can apparently succeed where strawberry tasted like vomit. Greg gets stuck with a four-pack of ten-month-old hazy IPA, we discover Flex believes pizza should be dipped in more pizza sauce, and a drunk guy removing his clothes in an Ohio street brings back the story of Greg face-planting onto a bed fully dressed after his bachelor party. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking El Segundo Brewing Company’s Burn Off, a hazy IPA with classic West Coast hops. Flex is drinking WeldWerks Brewing Company’s Watermelon Cotton Candy Sour Ale, a fruit-forward sour that completely redeems a previous cotton candy beer disaster. North Charleston becomes our newest top listening city, which is good news for South Carolina’s reputation as a state where people probably do not get eaten. Poop-Beer Gate continues with a New Belgium hemp pale ale so aggressively skunky that the draft line had to be replaced, while Flex remembers drinking a Heineken and searching his backyard for the smell. His watermelon cotton candy sour initially triggers the same gag reflex as its strawberry predecessor, then earns a perfect score and plans for four meals a day. Greg and Flex also discover they are fundamentally incompatible on pizza sauce, ranch, pants, and whether sleeping in shoes is ever acceptable. Greg has done it, although he briefly misunderstood why his future wife was removing them. The Jungle Juice Cruise

Welcome back, craft beer people. Greg runs a boat straight into the dock after some boat beers, Flex introduces his kids to the glory of fourth meal, and bug beers sound worse than poop beers. Pilot Tom drops off some precious cargo, Ballast Point is falling apart at the seams, and Tony Romo DUIs his way into Wisconsin folk lore. Beers We're Drinking: Flex is drinking Lawson's Finest Liquids Sip of Sunshine, a classic Vermont IPA delivered under the strict supervision of Pilot Tom. Greg is drinking North Coast Brewing Scrimshaw Pilsner, a crisp craft pilsner making its first appearance on the show in years. Greg's relaxing morning on the lake ends with a boat parked in the dock a little harder than intended after the battery gives up at exactly the wrong time. Flex discovers his daughters are officially old enough to appreciate the magic of fourth meal after a concert, and the guys spend far too much time deciding whether bug beer or poop beer is the less offensive beverage. Pilot Tom's cross-country beer delivery also gets the VIP treatment it deserves. Booze News: Ballast Point’s ownership battle puts the brewery’s future at risk. Costco Beer’s Last Call

Welcome back, craft beer people. Poop Beer Gate returns with a barrel-aged stout that belongs on rice, Vanessa explains how Alaska breweries track every ounce you drink, and Flex reveals that wedding dancing usually ends with most of his clothes missing. Greg also protects his marriage with a raspberry sour, Costco beer fans prepare for a goodbye, and a trip to DUI probation goes exactly as well as you’d expect. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking Tarantula Hill Brewing’s Dazzleberry Sour, a light and tart raspberry-blackberry summer beer. Flex is drinking Lion’s Tail Brewing’s Oktoberfest, a crisp, smooth German-style lager worth buying in July. Flex confirms the Fresh Coast is real and admits Lake Michigan brings out his full nature-dork side. Vanessa calls in with Alaska’s strict 36-ounce brewery limit, including bartenders who remember your face even after you leave and try another seat. Poop Beer Gate returns when a listener spends $20 on a barrel-aged stout that tastes like straight soy sauce, prompting an important detour into sushi ginger etiquette. Later, Greg saves his gluten-intolerant sister from pre-gaming a wedding with mini Fireball bottles, while Flex explains that his own wedding routine involves dancing until the jacket, vest, and possibly the shirt are gone. Drunk Movie Buddies

Grab a beer, craft beer friends. Flex gets back from a birthday road trip with great brewery stops, a ballpark full of craft beer, and an amusement park souvenir he’d rather not have. Greg introduces everyone to the wonderful world of elephant poop beer, and the guys go full movie buddy with Bio-Dome. An on-again, off-again craft brewery loses another location, and a drunk driver gets two cars stuck in the mud before moving in for a nap. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Midwest Sound from Phase Three Brewing and Eagle Park Brewing, a hazy double IPA packed with mango, tangerine, and passion fruit. Greg is drinking Short Lived IPA from MadeWest Brewing and Coronado Brewing, a clear West Coast IPA with light strawberry and a dank finish. Greg and Flex officially become movie buddies with a synchronized Bio-Dome night, and Greg’s warning that his wife should probably take a gummy turns out to be solid advice. Greg escapes the heat with beers, food, and the dogs on the patio at Malibu Brewing, while Flex comes back from his birthday road trip with a stop at Modist Brewing, plenty of craft beer at Target Field, and a waterfall judged by whether jumping off it would kill you. The Mall of America log ride also leaves Flex with a very adult souvenir, leading to a discussion about the surprising number of ways a person can get a hemorrhoid. Crimes from the Bar

Pull up a stool, craft beer friends. Greg gets replaced by Steph in an AI-generated PR pitch, Non-Murderer John keeps the beer trades coming, birthday week starts with hotel snoring plans, one guy FaceTiming from a bar sparks a debate on public phone etiquette, and Booze News includes free World Cup beer and a Nebraska woman who showed up to court with a .336 BAC. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking Death Awaits Black IPA from Fidens Brewing, a citrusy black IPA that refuses to act like a stout. Flex is drinking Gravity Palace from Definitive Brewing, an 11% New England triple IPA picked by his daughter and judged accordingly. Flex is getting ready to spend birthday week sharing a hotel room with family, which quickly turns into a discussion about drunk snoring, sleeping on the couch, and why Vegas cigarettes somehow seem perfectly acceptable. Non-Murderer John keeps his streak alive with another beer trade before Greg reads one of the worst PR emails the show has ever received after an AI decides Steph has replaced him as co-host. The guys spend way more time than expected arguing about FaceTiming people at a bar, sipping tequila shots, and why speakerphone in public should be considered an open invitation for everyone else to join the conversation. Alaskan Beer Jail

Welcome back, craft beer people. Greg finds out five hazy IPAs hit a lot different than they used to, Flex discovers a cucumber lime blond ale that belongs in the drain, and Alaska somehow makes ordering a beer harder than it needs to be. Add a Fourth of July survival plan built around action movies, laundry, and a very nervous dog, plus an appearance from Nine Loko that nobody asked for. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Road Trippin’ from Elm Creek Brewing Company, a hazy pale ale with stone fruit and road-trip timing. Greg is drinking Born Into Light from Everywhere Beer Co, a fresh hazy IPA with tropical mimosa energy. Greg realizes the recovery from five 7% hazies lasts a lot longer than it used to, but learns his reputation as the group’s happy drunk is still intact. Flex follows up on last week’s beer regrets by discovering the Phase Three beer he skipped for the show was incredible, then balances that out with a cucumber lime blond ale that went straight from can to sink. The Fourth of July plans turn into Greg explaining the elaborate action movie and laundry routine that keeps his dog calm during fireworks, which somehow sends both of them down a rabbit hole of National Treasure, Spider-Noir, and the wonderfully strange career choices of Nicolas Cage. Mug Club Olympics

Welcome back, craft beer travelers. Flex finally makes it to New Glarus and comes home with a pear beer worth talking about, while Greg discovers double dry hopped Pliny and suddenly remembers why people get excited about Pliny in the first place. The guys try to fix modern mug clubs with secret passwords, member-only beers, and beer Olympics, Intern Brian mounts a legal defense for Florida Man driving backwards down the highway, Scottish soccer fans drink Boston bars dry, and a British Airways crew member makes an unforgettable last call request. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Pear 26 from New Glarus Brewing, a tart pear fruit beer worth the Wisconsin detour. Greg is drinking Separation Anxiety from Mother Earth Brewing Company, a hazy IPA with tropical fruit salad energy. Flex reports back from his family trip to Cave of the Mounds, where he was apparently the most excited person on the tour, then gets surprised with a New Glarus stop that feels a little underwhelming but still sends him home with a haul. Greg brings mug club math to the table and immediately makes it less depressing by pitching member-only beers, dumb brewery Olympics, secret passwords, and a mug wall that does not require people to carry their own glass around like a weird little goblet. Intern Brian calls in to defend Florida Man driving backwards down the highway, which gets Greg and Flex wondering if there is technically a law against it as long as the blinkers work. The guys also find Flex’s ketchup limit, and it is broccoli. Booze News: Busch Light Lime returns because apparently Apple was not enough. Scottish soccer fans drink Boston bars into emergency delivery mode. Heineken and Heinz team up for the beer-and-ketchup combo nobody requested. Welcome aboard, craft beer passengers. Greg and Flex hit some IPA turbulence courtesy of Pilot Tom, Greg revisits a coffee stout email that tastes like old refrigerator coffee, and he remembers getting chased out of Hooters over a missing tip. A Florida man tries to explain why driving backward down a highway was better than swerving, a former WWE star suplexes his way into a DUI, BuzzBalls are dominating, and Poop Beer-gate continues. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Citraquench’l from Heist Brewery, a Citra-hopped hazy IPA that Pilot Tom warned was underwhelming. Greg is drinking Let It Out from Unsung Brewing, a dry New Zealand IPA with Enigma hop energy. Flex defends his lifelong hatred of the Cubs, including in front of his kids. Later, a Target run for first aid turns into him trying to steer his daughter away from the adult section across the aisle. Greg shares a high school Hooters date that ended with a waitress chasing him into the parking lot. Meanwhile, Pilot Tom unknowingly becomes a hero after sending Flex an IPA and accurately warning him in advance that it might be disappointing, proving once again that pilots are good at identifying turbulence before everyone else feels it. The Okayest Beer in America

Welcome back to the craft beer multiverse. Greg and Flex get into Drecker doing Drecker things, Yuengling defending its crown as the most alright beer alive, and a whale testicle beer smoked over sheep poop because Iceland apparently looked at normal beer and got bored. There’s also a voicemail that explains why old beer sits on shelves forever, Flex gets fact-checked on Wisconsin badgers, Greg finds Casa Agria living on through Rincon, and a cemetery drunk driving story earns the very important word “again.” Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Emotional Support Demon from Drecker Brewing, a hazy IPA with candied pineapple and classic Drecker can energy. Greg is drinking Chuuuurch from Kern River Brewing, a clean West Coast IPA with Mosaic, Citra, Amarillo, and a suspicious amount of lacing. Flex recaps a rare win at the local brewpub after years of bad food, bad service, and emotional damage, only to find great beer, jalapeño slaw, and a cheese pizza good enough to make everyone question reality. Greg and Flex then give Yuengling the proper tribute it deserves as the most all right beer on the face of the planet, which is not an insult as much as a diagnosis. Greg talks barbecue with Interim Brian, a surprise fruited hazy that didn’t ruin his day, and the very good news that Casa Agria recipes are showing up again at Rincon. The whale testicle beer sends the guys straight into 2,000 pounds of ball math, Icelandic smoking logistics, and whether California wildfires could be repurposed for whale-based brewing. Then Bryan from Madison calls in with the beer rep side of old shelf beer, Flex gets corrected by multiple people about badgers actually existing in Wisconsin, and everyone learns that feedback is great even when it proves you were stupid. Booze News: Regional craft breweries are still shrinking, but at least they’re shrinking slightly less. Atrevida Beer Company announces its final pour in Colorado Springs. James Watt returns with Second Best, because apparently that name was available and honest. Iowa man arrested for drunk driving in a cemetery…again. Worst Beer I Ever Paid For

Welcome back, craft beer lovers. Steph from the Utah Brewers Guild joins Greg and Flex as Greg uncovers a five-year-old IPA lurking in the craft beer thrift shop, the hunt for the worst beer ever ordered adds a few strong contenders, and Psycho Bear calls in with a surprise update. Somewhere in the middle, Flex explains why he’d absolutely steal a penguin if given the opportunity, before Booze News delivers a story about a drunk driver getting arrested while picking up another drunk driver from jail. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking Hippie Van Hazy from Malibu Brewing Company, a dank, piney hazy IPA. Steph is drinking a Mexican Lager from Templin Family Brewing after her Drowned Lands Kinsfolk doppelbock went full soy sauce. Flex is drinking Watercolors Fruit Punch from Skygazer Brewing, a smoothie sour repeat that turned out to be a great mistake. Greg’s latest trip to the craft beer thrift shop uncovers a five-year-old IPA still sitting on the shelf; this should be a crime. The conversation turns into a collection of beer horror stories involving pennies, blood, soy sauce, habanero beer, and memorable drain pours, while Steph shares a disappointing doppelbock that made a cross-country trip for nothing. A surprise voicemail from Psycho Bear brings updates from California beer country before the group debates pickle beer, Mexican lagers, and whether Flex could successfully leave a zoo with a penguin. Please Don’t Fertilize the Beer

Welcome back, craft beer people. Greg and Flex are joined by Utah Brewers Guild Executive Director Steph, who walks straight into a conversation about urine-fertilized beer, exploding smoothie cans, and why craft beer forgot how to have fun for a while. The crew gets into the weird peak of Covid-era beer trends, Ohio’s deeply suspicious chili spaghetti situation, and the possible return of Anchor Brewing while Flex spends an alarming amount of time trying to figure out what people from Utah are called. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Big Time Cheesin from RAR Brewing and Everywhere, a colorful West Coast IPA with big label energy. Steph is drinking Rainforest Cafeteria from Ogden Beer Company and Melvin Brewing, a small-batch West Coast pilsner brewed for the mashup fest. Greg is drinking Liquid Candy from Tarantula Hill Brewing Company, a hazy IPA with tropical Costco confidence. Steph joins the show and immediately has to sit through a full breakdown of good dick weather, including Flex ranking Nashville, Orlando, and Cincinnati like a man with field research. The crew gets into craft beer’s fun problem, why American Craft Beer Week barely made a sound, and whether the industry is finally crawling out of the overloaded smoothie-beer era. Flex gets stuck on Utah geography, BYU Cougars, actual cougars, and why Wisconsin has Badgers but apparently no badgers. Greg also finds out Google thinks Wisconsin is drunk, which feels less like a search result and more like a witness statement. Booze News: Anchor Brewing edges closer to a comeback. Ohio wine shipping laws take a constitutional hit. Bauhaus Brew Labs closing after 12 years. New Jersey brings back a familiar taproom restriction architect. Miami drunk driver pulls gun on valet over parking sticker.
