Cat and the Colors Along the Way | A Gentle Story About Curiosity & Being Yourself
A blue tiger. A giant pink flower. A rainbow snow leopard. An upside-down talking tree. And one very important reminder: sometimes the most wonderful things are the ones we never expect to find. Meet Cat, a soft blue tiger who loves painting, broccoli, and noticing the world around him. One sunny morning, Cat spots a beautiful rainbow outside his little mountain home and sets off with his friend Penguin to find the place where the rainbow seems to touch the river. But the journey becomes much more interesting than Cat expected. Along the forest path, Cat and Penguin meet a rainbow-coloured snow leopard and a very unusual upside-down tree with leafy branches in the ground, roots stretching into the sky, and plenty to say. When the friends finally reach the river, the rainbow they came to see has disappeared. Cat had imagined painting that perfect rainbow over the sparkling water, so at first he feels disappointed. Then he remembers something the upside-down tree told them: sometimes looking at the world a little differently helps us notice things other creatures miss. So Cat looks again. He notices pink wildflowers beside the water, golden sunlight glowing on the rocks, green trees reflected in the river, Penguin’s bright orange feet, his own soft blue paws, and the rainbow colours in his new snow leopard friend’s fur. The colours were still there all along. This gentle Cozy Corner Storytime episode is about curiosity, mindfulness, friendship, self-acceptance, creativity, and slowing down enough to notice the beautiful little things around us. It is a calming story for preschoolers and young children, with mindful breathing and repeat-after-me affirmations woven into the ending. This episode is especially meaningful because the original ideas came from the wonderful students in Miss Monica’s JK2 class. I was so lucky to visit their classroom for a special circle time and hear their creative ideas. Together, they imagined a blue tiger named Cat, a giant pink flower, Penguin, a rainbow snow leopard, an upside-down talking tree, mountains, a river, painting, broccoli, and so much more. To Miss Monica and her bright, funny, creative JK2 students: thank you so much for having me. I loved spending time with you, hearing your ideas, and turning them into a Cozy Corner story. ✨ THIS STORY INCLUDES: • A gentle forest and mountain adventure • Friendship and curiosity • Mindful breathing • Noticing details in nature • A positive message about being yourself • A calm, reassuring ending • Positive affirmations for kids 💛 AFFIRMATIONS: I am curious.
