Coventry City Daily Digest: Wednesday 23 September 2026

A quiet Tuesday at Coventry, with nothing at all from the club, but CoventryLive's Andy Turner has been through the treatment room and put a return date against all six of Frank Lampard's injured players. Aurele Amenda's calf tear is the worst of it, a minimum of two months by Lampard's own reckoning and a Christmas return by Turner's, while Haji Wright is on course with his quad rehab but not due back until the start of November. Milan van Ewijk, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Josh Eccles and Luke Woolfenden are all dated for early October, which should have them available when Newcastle United visit the Arena on Monday 12 October. Plus the fixtures that follow, where the table stands, and a reminder that voting for the Premier League's Player of the Matchweek, with Jay Dasilva on the shortlist, closes at midday today. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Tuesday 22 September 2026

Four pieces of Coventry news on the first day of the international break. Jay Dasilva is nominated for the Premier League's Player of the Matchweek for gameweek five after his winner at Nottingham Forest, with voting open until midday on Wednesday. CoventryLive's Andy Turner counts eleven Sky Blues away with their countries, eight first teamers and three out on loan, including Liam Kitching's first ever Ireland call-up, a late Ghana call for Brandon Thomas-Asante and Yann Gboho facing his own club team-mates for the Ivory Coast on Thursday. Ephron Mason-Clark has stayed at home with his third child due any day. Josh Eccles, Milan van Ewijk, Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Luke Woolfenden are all set to be back training during the break. Plus the November trip to Everton moves to Friday 6 November for Sky Sports, and Red Bull are announced as the club's new official energy drink partner. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Monday 21 September 2026

The international break opens with an injury update, and most of it is bad. Frank Lampard told CoventryLive's Andy Turner that Aurèle Amenda's calf problem is more severe than hoped, with a minimum of two months expected and possibly up to three, which would put the summer signing out until around Christmas. Better news on Milan van Ewijk, whose hamstring issue is not serious and who Lampard hopes will be back once the league resumes. Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Luke Woolfenden are also due back after the break, while Haji Wright is not expected until the end of October or early November. Plus the run of fixtures out of the break, from the club's own listings: Newcastle United at home on Monday 12 October, Tottenham Hotspur away on Monday 19 October and Fulham at home on Saturday 24 October. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Sunday 20 September 2026

A win at last. Coventry City won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening for their first Premier League victory of the season and their first in the competition since 2001. Jay Dasilva scored his first goal for the club on 55 minutes, running onto Carl Rushworth's long ball and finishing past Matz Sels. It was also Coventry's first Premier League goal in twenty five years. Forest had a late equaliser from Igor Jesus ruled out by VAR for a foul on Caleb Yirenkyi. Frank Lampard called the win a relief and said his side had changed system after the Aston Villa game. Plus the team news from the City Ground, where Milan van Ewijk missed out with a hamstring issue, and where Coventry sit in the table going into the three week international break. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Saturday 19 September 2026

Matchday. Coventry are at Nottingham Forest this evening, half past five at the City Ground, in the last game before the international break. Frank Lampard says his side will be adaptable and will look at the opposition before settling on a shape. Oliver Glasner's team news for Forest: Nikola Milenkovic misses out, Jair Cunha is a late call after training on Thursday, and Glasner says everyone other than Milenkovic and Nicolo Savona will be fit. Plus Lampard on the hard conversation with Jake Bidwell, who is not in Coventry's twenty five man Premier League squad, and the first top flight meeting between these two clubs since January 1999. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Friday 18 September 2026

Doug King writes to supporters before the international break: more work at the Arena including another floodlight upgrade, an admission of teething, snagging and technology issues at the first two Premier League home games, and a promise to up the club's game on customer service. On the football, no magic beans and no change of course. Plus Frank Lampard's team news for Nottingham Forest away, where Aurele Amenda has a calf injury and is expected to miss out and Taiwo Awoniyi is suspended, so misses a first return to his old club. Josh Eccles, Luke Woolfenden and Kaine Kesler-Hayden are all expected back after the break. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Out of the Carabao Cup. Aston Villa win 3-1 at the Arena, Tammy Abraham scoring twice either side of a superb Victor Torp free kick, with Ross Barkley heading the goal that turned it. Frank Lampard's post match verdict to CoventryLive: the attacking response was what he wants, the two set piece goals were not. Nine changes from the weekend, first starts for Yann Gboho, Stephen Mfuni and Sidiki Cherif, and an early injury to Aurele Amenda with no assessment yet. Nottingham Forest away on Saturday. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Villa at the Arena tonight, and it is the first meeting between these two since May 2001. Frank Lampard hints at changes for the Carabao Cup third round and says he is excited for the occasion, in press conference copy carried by the Press Association. Team news, held at the tier the previews support rather than the club's. Plus the club's own matchday detail: the ticket limit raised from one to four, turnstiles, the fan village, the programme and a road closure. And where the season sits after four league games. Coventry City Daily Digest: Tuesday 15 September 2026

Liam Kitching speaks for the first time since his deadline day loan to Sheffield United, telling CoventryLive that at this stage of his career he just wants to play games regularly, that he still has a couple of years on his Coventry contract and will be a Coventry player next year, and that supporters should keep backing a side still gelling together. By CoventryLive's count the Sky Blues vice captain was one of seven senior centre halves on the books once Ethan Pinnock and Stephen Mfuni arrived late in the window. Plus Aston Villa at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Wednesday night, eight o'clock, in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with Villa nineteenth on a single point and Coventry bottom of the Premier League on four games played, no points, no goals scored and ten conceded. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Monday 14 September 2026

Coventry lost five nil at home to Brighton, down to ten men after Taiwo Awoniyi was sent off for an elbow on Maxim De Cuyper just after the interval. Frank Lampard's verdict: welcome to the Premier League. City had four clear sights of goal in the first half and did not take one of them, before Charalampos Kostoulas, Malick Yalcouye, a Pascal Gross penalty, a Lewis Dunk strike from distance and a Yasin Ayari finish in stoppage time settled it. Lampard on the red card: he had no argument with it. Plus Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler explains to the Argus why the Seagulls sold Carl Rushworth, with a clear number one in Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele behind him. Four league games played, no points and no league goal, and Aston Villa at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Wednesday night in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Sunday 13 September 2026

It is matchday. Brighton at home, two o'clock, and Carl Rushworth faces the club that sold him for the first time since his permanent move. Frank Lampard tells CoventryLive the deal was drawn out, with a number of bids turned down before the two clubs finally agreed terms at the end of July, and praises the goalkeeper for staying calm throughout. Plus what is inside the matchday programme, with Yann Gboho as cover star and an exclusive sit down interview after his move from Toulouse, a new Top Flight Tales feature with Gary Gillespie, and a look back at the League Cup run of nineteen eighty, eighty one. David Mantle returns to Maidenhead United on loan. Coventry go into the game still looking for their first points of the season. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Saturday 12 September 2026

Stephen Mfuni is ready. Frank Lampard says the eighteen year old, who could not play last weekend because the game was at his parent club Manchester City, has settled in seamlessly and comes into consideration for Sunday's visit of Brighton, though he stops short of naming a side. Otherwise it is the same squad as last week with Yann Gboho added: Josh Eccles is not fit yet, and Lampard hopes Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Luke Woolfenden will be back in training around the international break. Loum Tchaouna has switched to the number seventeen shirt and has offered to sign shirts already bought with eighteen on the back. Josh Toluwaloju joins Bromsgrove Sporting on a one month work experience loan. Plus the matchday details for Sunday, including turnstile and Fan Village times. Play Up, Sky Blues!

The Chelsea game comes off Boxing Day. Coventry's fixtures against Chelsea, Brentford and Ipswich have all been picked for live television, and the Chelsea match moves from Saturday the twenty sixth of December to Sunday the twenty seventh. Frank Lampard says Yann Gboho won't be far away at all for Sunday, though he stops short of naming him in the side. Brighton hope to have Georginio Rutter back and could hand Femi Azeez a debut, with seven others still out. Applications for the club's new Fan Advisory Board close on Wednesday. And Jamie Allen, four months after the promotion parade, is still without a club. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Thursday 10 September 2026

Yann Gboho has trained with Coventry for the first time, and the man he was brought in to compete with has given his verdict. Ephron Mason-Clark tells CoventryLive the new arrival looks sharp, quick footed and elegant on the ball, and says he hopes to help him settle in. Whether Gboho makes the twenty for Brighton on Sunday is not settled, and the reporting on that is Andy Turner's expectation rather than the club's word. Then Mason-Clark's own road to the Premier League: the Isthmian League with Metropolitan Police ten years ago, four thousand people at the Hive, and sixty thousand at Manchester City on Saturday. Coventry City Daily Digest: Wednesday 9 September 2026

Sunday's home game against Brighton and Hove Albion has sold out, and Coventry have opened the ticket exchange: season ticket holders in the Family, Standard and Premium zones can list a seat they cannot use, buyers need a purchase history going back to twenty sixteen, seventeen, and sellers are paid in store vouchers rather than cash. The Premier League have appointed Tony Harrington to referee, with Peter Bankes on video. And the club has set out how ticket forwarding works this season: five nominated supporters, fixed for the year, and no taking a forwarded ticket back once it has been accepted. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Tuesday 8 September 2026

The Nottingham Forest away allocation has sold out, and successful away ballot members have until nine fifty nine this morning to buy their tickets. And Andy Turner at CoventryLive asks the man who covers Toulouse for La Depeche du Midi, Theo Faugere, what Coventry have actually bought in Yann Gboho: the most technically gifted player at Toulouse in recent seasons and the league's most prolific dribbler last season, but light in duels, still short in front of goal, and a doubt over whether he can find the consistency the Premier League demands. Yann Gboho is finally clear to join up: CoventryLive report FIFA have ratified the deadline day move from Toulouse, and Frank Lampard sounds confident the twenty five year old can contribute quickly. Danny Murphy tells Match of the Day the negativity around Coventry has been inflated and Saturday was arguably their best performance yet, while Enzo Maresca admits Manchester City kept the Sky Blues alive and had to win it the ugly way. Plus away ticket details for Nottingham Forest on Saturday the nineteenth, with the sale windows running today. Play Up, Sky Blues!

Coventry City Daily Digest: Sunday 6 September 2026

Manchester City one, Coventry City nil, and the score flatters the hosts. Erling Haaland's first half header settled it, but Coventry created chances of their own and Gianluigi Donnarumma had to be the best player on the pitch. Frank Lampard felt a draw would have been fair, praised the defensive organisation and refused to criticise the misses, while calling the goal the brutal reality of the level. Three games in, Coventry are bottom with no points and no goals. Plus Lampard on what the club have got in eighteen year old loan signing Stephen Mfuni, and Brighton at home on Sunday before Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup. Play Up, Sky Blues!

The club join the Premier League's Together Against Suicide campaign at home games. And season ticket holders get a new ticket forwarding option alongside the returning ticket exchange.
