    Conversation Street Episode 514

On our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the goings on in Weatherfield between the 14th and the 18th March (Episodes #10586 - 10591). After twists and turns of last week's Corrie, were they able to keep up the momentum this week? On the whole, we'd say yes. The Abi/Imran/Toyah story, which continued to take the lion's share of the screen time, still gripped us as we continued to feel sympathy for each of the main players - despite the fact that some of their actions were definitely morally questionable.. Speaking of which, we were pleasantly surprised to see the return of Grace this week, who makes a flying visit to the Street to stir up a bit more trouble for the Baileys. Meanwhile, Nicky puts on her tightest leather trousers for her TA job interview, Amy and Jacob go public with their relationship, and Dr Gaddas returns with a funky new hairstyle as Laura's condition continues to deteriorate. There wasn't a whole lot in terms of big news this week, so we decided to give The Kabin a swerve, and instead headed straight on over to the feedback section after Street Talk, where topics include the a commentary on Alfie's situation from the point of view of a social worker, the compelling performances of Jane Danson and Sally Carman, and the Coronation Street Tour. The Changing Sets Of Coronation Street

From its humble beginnings as a row of flimsy wooden house fronts crammed into a tiny Granada studio to the vast expanse used today at MediaCity, Coronation Street has changed an awful lot in the past sixty years. The row of terraced houses with a shop at one end and the Rovers Return at the other is just as recognisable as ever, but beyond that, the street is worlds away from what the show runners could have ever conceived of back in 1960. In this discussion, we chat about the evolution of the external sets over the years, tracking the buildings that came and went, roads that were lengthened and (in the case of Rosamund Street) massively shortened, and other changes that viewers have seen come and go. If you'd like to see some pictures to go along with this discussion, take a look at some of the ones we used as reference here: shorturl.at/erDP3

    Conversation Street Episode 513

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 6th and the 11th March (Episodes #10579 - 105785). Corrie's new schedule got off to a cracking start this week, with our favourite week of episodes so far in 2022. It's taken a little while to get here, but it feels like Abi's surprise baby and the inevitable consequences for Kevin, Imran and Toyah will be the first 'big' story of the year, and we can't wait to find out what happens next. Also this week, Leanne arranges some clandestine chess sessions between Sam and Roy after Nick decides his son is getting a little too obsessed, Nicky returns to Weatherfield with a career change that sees her moving from the bedroom to the classroom, and, not content with living with the daughter of the man he bludgeoned to death, Gary invites Rick's ex-wife to move in chez Windass too - what could possibly go wrong? Up next on the podcast it's a fairly lengthy Kabin segment with only one item on the agenda: the newly announced Weatherfield Precinct! We discuss our first impressions of the planned set expansion, chatting about how we expect the new area to be used in the show, who we expect to see hanging out there most often, and what it might mean for location shoots going forward. We round off the show with more of your listener feedback. Street Talk: 00:13:31 The Kabin: 02:18:42 Feedback: 02:49:44

    Abi Webster Character Profile

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile of everyone's favourite drug addled, gun toting, neglectful mother - it's Abi Webster! Since the moment she stepped onto the street back in late 2017, we've been huge fans of this funny, feisty but flawed character. Abi's has barely been off our screens since becoming a Corrie regular, and we've loved (almost!) every minute - and had a great time discussing the manic mechanic's highest of highs and very low lows.

    Conversation Street Episode 512

On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 28th February and the 4th March (Episodes #10574 - 10577). Although the new schedule doesn't officially start until the 7th, we got a taster of it this week, with two hour-long episodes of Corrie on Monday and Friday, the first of which focused mainly on the Winter-Brown story and the second on scheming Lydia's machinations. Both plots had some classic soap moments this week, with Chesney's race to stop Joseph emigrating to Portugal ending in a lovely scene filmed at Manchester Airport (more location shooting like this, please, Corrie!) and Sarah going down the tried and tested wronged woman route of chucking Adam's clothes onto the street from a great height. Meanwhile, Abi looks set to fall off the wagon again, Emma makes a risky decision in the romance department, and Brian has itchy feet after a break in the West Country. Next up it's The Kabin, and with not a whole lot in the way of Corrie news out there this week, Gemma takes the opportunity to gush about how great Sarah Lancashire's new HBO show looks, and we finish off the podcast with a bunch of emails in the feedback section. Elle Mulvaney Interview

Our bonus podcast this week is an interview with the lovely Elle Mulvaney! Longtime listeners of the podcast will know we've enjoyed watching Amy Barlow grow up over the past decade, so it was a real treat to be able to hear her speak about spending her teenage years on the cobbles, including her teenage pregnancy story a few years back and of course her current relationship with Jacob.

    Conversation Street Episode 511

On our latest podcast, we have a natter about what went on in Weatherfield during the week of the 21st to the 25th February 2022 (Episodes #10568 - 10573). This week, the truth's out about Abi's one-night stand... well, half out anyway, as Kevin finds out that the new Mrs Webster was unfaithful to him just before his wedding, just not who with... Surely it's it's only a matter of time until Toyah finds out it was Imran and she has to set aside her 'trained listener' skills in favour of the 'trained kickboxer' techniques she picked up as a teenager? Also this week, things start to get interesting in the Adam story when Sarah discovers the 'evidence' that Lydia's been planting, Linda suggests whisking Joseph back to Portugal with her (can she please take Chesney too?) and Yasmeen fails to see the funny side of Stu's practical joking - though we certainly enjoyed it! Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we chat about the various schedule changes that all the main soaps will be going through in a few weeks' time, and we round off the show with a little bit of listener feedback. Listener Questions

This week's bonus podcast is another listener question segment! We start by answering a question from Amber, who wants to who our favourite Corrie pet has been over the years (admittedly, it was hard to argue for anyone other than Schmeichel, but plenty of other furry and feathered friends still manage to get themselves a shout out!), then after that, we tackle something from Alex, who wants to know how we'd write a leaving story for our most loved characters. A dignified back of the taxi exit? Jetting into the sunset with a new love? A heroic death, going down in a blaze of glory? We do our best to come up with some fitting finales for our favourites - and we also can't help but come up with a few ideas for getting rid of some of our least favourites too!

    Conversation Street Episode 510

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 14th and the 18ht February (Episodes #10562 - 10567). As the residents of Weatherfield celebrated Valentine's, we found there was a lot to love about this week's episodes. Take Amy and Jacob, for example - we're all for this pairing, and putting them front and centre of the action this week was a great move in our book. Also this week, we had the long-awaited reunion between Daisy and Daniel, grannies at war when Linda comes to stay and clashes with Bernie, and an unexpected proposal from Toyah. We're not convinced Imran's going to be taking her down the aisle any time soon thanks to the ticking time bomb that is his one night stand with Abi, but we're certainly looking forward to finding out how the big reveal all unfolds! Next up on the podcast, it's The Kabin, where we take a very early look at the newly published Corrie novel, We'll Meet Again On Coronation Street, and we finish off the show with more of your listener feedback. Corrie’s Most Iconic Couples

For this week's bonus podcast, we chat about Coronation Street's most perfect pairings over the years. Taking a journey from the 1960s right through to the present day, we chat about which couples best represent each decade, compare romance on the Street then and now, and try to figure out what it is that makes certain couples go down in Corrie history.

    Conversation Street Episode 509

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 7th and the 11th February (Episodes #10556 - 10561). This week, Sarah and her 'darling' Adam have a bit of a stressful time when his windscreen is smashed and their flat gets broken into. Is Jeremy 'Boundary Dispute' Bremner up to his old tricks, or should the Barlows be looking closer to home for the identity of their secret stalker? Also this week, as Amy turns 18, we find out who she's been secretly snogging, Daniel feels guilty about potentially getting Max expelled, and Laura's back on the scene with some shocking news for Our Kelly - but is she telling the truth about her tummy troubles? Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we have a chat about some upcoming projects for Sally Ann Matthews and Lisa George, and discuss the news that Neighbours' days may be numbered and Hollyoaks is going online first - what could this mean for the future of soap? After that, it's time for some more of your listener feedback, before finishing off the show with a bit of spoilery cast news in a Kabin Extra segment. Callum Logan Character Profile

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile on Callum Logan. The newly recast Max has been getting into all sorts of bother recently on Corrie, so we thought it would be the perfect time to reminisce about his dearly departed drug dealing dad, who spent much of 2015 terrorising the Platts until meeting a sticky end at the hands of Kylie. All these years later, with only a small number of characters knowing who really bumped off Callum, this is one dark secret that could very well come to light at any moment...

    Conversation Street Episode 508

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 31st January and the 2nd February (Episodes #10550 - 10555). This week's Corrie seemed to be a competition between Daniel and Craig to find out who most deserves to be fired from their jobs for misconduct. On the one hand, you have the English teacher with a history of acting inappropriately around a girl in his class (albeit partly through his own naivety) now pushing another of his pupils down the stairs and lying about it to the police. On the other, you have Officer Tinker, already well known for spilling the beans about cases he's working on to all and sundry, now keeping his girlfriend's confession about her involvement in a man's death a secret, and tampering with evidence at the crime scene. Fire the pair of them, we say! Also this week, Asha's newfound passion for the giddy world of risk management takes her on a perilous trip north of the border (or at least it would have done if Nina hadn't been having a breakdown about the dangers of rail travel), Audrey and Rita seem to get confused about when the Queen's jubilee celebrations should be taking place, and Kelly continues her ascent to sainthood by helping Liam count to ten in French. In The Kabin, we chat about Sally Dynevor's latest performance on Dancing on Ice and celebrate her getting her MBE from Princess Anne this week, then we round off the show with a couple of bits of listener feedback. The Bobbins Awards 2021

We love Corrie, we really do, but even we can admit there are times when it gets things wrong. The Bobbins Awards are are annual celebration of all things awful in Weatherfield, be it characters who failed to make a good impression on us, moments that had us scratching our heads, or stories we just wish had got no further than the storyliners' brainstorming sessions. In this year's edition, we take a tongue in cheek look back at the very worst that Corrie had to offer in 2021. It's all in good fun, of course, so please do take it as such, and if you've got any dishonourable mentions of your own you'd like to mention, do write in to let us know!

    Conversation Street Episode 507

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 24th and the 28th January 2022 (Episodes #10544 - 10549). This week, Sally's bizarre decision to have a widdle in Victoria Gardens at New Year comes back to bite her in the bum when she's arrested during Tim's bypass operation. Is this the end of her political career? Meanwhile, the truth comes out about the lengths that Bernie has gone to in order to get some money for her family, Jenny's in for a shock when she meets Leo's dad, and things go from bad to worse for Faye and Emma when Craig finds out about their involvement in Ted's death. Will the notoriously loose lipped copper break a habit of a lifetime and actually be able to keep quiet about something for once? Up next on the show, it's The Kabin, where we share our reactions to the news that Corrie is soon to be moving to three hour-long episodes a week. What will this mean for the show, and could the writing be on the wall for EastEnders now that it's going to be going head to head with the ITV soaps? We round off the podcast with more of your listener feedback, including a discussion about the status - and believability - of Craig and Faye's relationship. Kate Spencer Interview

For our bonus podcast this week, we were joined by the lovely Kate Spencer, who recently departed the cobbles after two years of playing mischievous Grace Vickers. Kate chats about what it was like to be a part of the Coronation Street team throughout the pandemic, keep the secret about Tiana's true parentage, and do her Corrie-loving mum proud! As well as this, we find out how the absolutely lovely Kate is worlds away from nasty nanny Grace, and what she likes to get up to when she's not on our tellies. Conversation Street Episode 506

Michael's got COVID (again!) this week, so not only have we had to watch this week's Corrie in separate rooms of the house, we've also had to attempt a socially distanced recording, too! This week's show covers the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 17th and the 21st January (Episodes #10537 - 10542). As much as our Craigy might think that uncovering the identity of his crutch's original owner is the most important thing going on in Weatherfield this week - nay, this year! - there's actually a few other items higher on the agenda for us. First off, the Winter-Browns in the red, and the extent that Bernie will go to in order to get some food on the table at No. 5 (and no, we're not talking about sticking her tongue down Dev's throat, either...) Meanwhile, Tim refuses to let Sally know about his upcoming op (despite viewers up and down the country yelling "Just tell her, Tim!" at their TVs all week), Zeedan's still in Yasmeen's bad books, and Mrs Crawshaw pledges to take action after Amy's protest - but is she just skirting the issue? Up next on the podcast, we chat about Sally Dynevor's Dancing On Ice debut in The Kabin, and we round off the podcast with more of your feedback, including one listener's reflections on the current Gemma and Chesney story. Amanda Barrie Interview

For this interview, we were joined by a real Corrie legend. Following an already illustrious career on stage and screen, Amanda Barrie joined the cast of Corrie in the early 80s as straight talking cafe worker, Alma Sedgewick. Over the years, she rose to become one of the era's best loved characters, forming a popular partnership in the cafe with Gail, and being one half of an iconic couple alongside Mike Baldwin. Here, Amanda shares her memories of her time in the show, working alongside some other Corrie icons. Also available to watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weu2u7jngps

    Conversation Street Episode 505

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 10th and the 14th January (Episodes #10531 - 10536). Bit of a shorter podcast from us this week, it turned out. Not that that is was a particularly bad week or anything; it's just when it came down to chatting about the episodes, we didn't end up having very much to say! Yeah, having your kid go missing must be pretty awful, right? Hmm, they're definitely still putting things in place for Tim to be accused of having an affair with Aggie, aren't they? The Zeedan story... is that *really* still going? Sure, Joseph was admittedly extremely cute, there were a few lovely character focused scenes with Jenny, Amy on her crusade was fantastic and Shona in the Kabin certainly has potential, but yeah... Let's hope next week has a bit more to get our blood pumping! There wasn't even very much in the way of Corrie news this week either, so we decided to give The Kabin a swerve, but there's always time for listener feedback, so we end the episode with that - including a nice little discussion about why young people don't seem to be watching the soaps anymore. Corrie In 2021: A Year in Review and Predictions for 2022

Another year has come and gone, and in this bonus episode of the podcast, we take a final look at 2021 on Coronation Street. After seeing which characters made it into the Top 10 appearance count for the year, we chat about the production side of things first - how well has Corrie made it through another year of the pandemic, and can we see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of filming restrictions? We also have a run down of some of our favourite stories and characters of the year, particularly trying to give some time to those who may not have been honoured in our recent Conversation Street Awards show. Then, just over around and hour and twenty minutes into the podcast, we switch over to the predictions segment for 2022 - though not before seeing how many of our predictions we made a year ago for 2021 actually came true (spoiler: not many!) We round things off by reading out some of the predictions for the year sent in by listeners. Time will tell which of them is also a mole at the Corrie offices!
