    Conversation Street Episode 587

On this weekend's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 31st July and the 4th August (Episodes #11018 - 11023). After all her sneaking about trying to hide the true identity of her unborn baby's father, it was only a matter of time before Sarah's lies would catch up with her - we weren't expecting it to be this early, mind you! With Adam finding out the truth and revealing it to the family on Monday, things didn't seem like they could get any worse for Sarah, and then Wednesday happened... Things are looking pretty bleak for Jenny this week too, but a very welcome return on Friday's episode could well prove to be the saviour she's looking for! Also this week, Bernie's a bit tactless, Yasmeen's totally gormless and Ryan proves popular topless! Quite a bit of news to cover this week in The Kabin - including two stories involving free cakes! - and we finish things off with a bit of feedback. Conversation Street Episode 586

We're back from our holidays and all caught up on last week's Corrie, so in this episode of the podcast, we chat about what went down on the cobbles between the 24th and the 28th July (Episodes #11013 - 11017) This week, with Elaine disappearing off to Scarborough, you might have been wondering which storyline Stephen would be meddling in next. Thanks to a bit of a weird flashback sequence on Wednesday, though, it turns out he's already been laying the groundwork for interfering in Sarah and Adam's paternity dramas! So many great twists and turns there, and once again, we have to say that what could have been a standard affair / who's the daddy storyline is still feeling surprisingly fresh! Meanwhile, Aadi's getting himself into some real hot water as he continues to dance to Courtney's tune - is this a comedy story? Something serious about an innocent teen being groomed? A steamy summer love affair? Turns out we have plenty to say about this one, either way! Meanwhile, Ryan's back and getting himself jacked, Paul's second encounter with Shelly gets him considering his future and Todd gets a Stiffy.

    Conversation Street Episode 585

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 17th and the 21st July (Episodes #11007 - 11012). This week was the very definition of a mixed bag! We're big fans of Spider and Toyah and have missed their lack of presence on the show for most of the year, but when the powers that be decide to include them, this is what we get? A farcical, zero tension hostage scene followed by Spider choosing the force over his fiancée? We'd say words fail us, but we certainly managed to get a good discussion out of it in the podcast! Then on the other side of the coin, you've got the Stephen storyline - now we're not going to say that's not farcical either, but we were on the edge of our seats with that plot this week! Who knew that Elaine actually had a backbone, and what on earth is Stephen going to do now? Also this week, Paul is apprehensive about his MND support group visit, Aadi attracts the attentions of his new boss' wife, and Brian finally gets rid of Isabella. Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where our cockles are warmed by the news of a Barbara Knox and Thelma Barlow reunion at Tatton Park this week, then we finish off the show with more of your feedback. Jackie Dobbs Character Profile

For this week's bonus podcast, we chat about cellmate from hell, Jackie Dobbs. Originally brought onto the cobbles during Deirdre's stint in the slammer, Jackie went on to feature in 65 episodes of the show, and although this might not seem like much, actress Margi Clarke's larger than life performance made sure Jackie went down in Corrie history! As we record this, we've just been introduced to Tyrone's birth mum Cassie, but for us long time viewers, he's always going to be Jackie's son in our hearts!

    Conversation Street Episode 584

In our latest podcast, we run down the goings on in Weatherfield between the 10th and the 14th July (Episodes #11001 - 11006). For the past five years, we've been putting our #BringBackHenry prayers into the Twitterverse, and this week's Corrie suggests they may finally have been answered. Bless you, Jenny, for suggesting that Gemma get in touch with her old flame for a job - of course, a phone call and a text don't necessarily confirm a comeback, but we're feeling positive here.. And speaking of comebacks, Griff's mate Reece makes an appearance this week when Lauren convinces Max to visit him in jail, but do they have sinister motives behind the invitation? Also this week, Sarah's DNA test results arrive, Elaine and Gerry grow closer and it's an eventful few days for Toyah as she gets both engaged and kidnapped! Up next on the podcast, we head to The Kabin, where Gemma casts her fashionista's eye over the guests at Corrie's summer party, and we finish things off with more of your listener feedback. Daniel Brocklebank and Chris James Interview

For this week's bonus podcast, we have a double whammy of interviews for you! First up, we're joined by Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew. We chat to Dan about his involvement in the current MND storyline as well as some of his other highlights during his time on the cobbles. After that, we speak to Chris James from the Motor Neurone Disease Association about the work that the charity has done with Coronation Street to help bring Paul's heartbreaking story to the screen. Conversation Street Episode 583

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 3rd and the 7th July (Episodes #10995 - 11000). What a difference a week can make! Whilst the twists and turns of last week's Corrie led to one of our longest Street Talks yet, the latest batch of episodes really didn't inspire that much discussion, we're sorry to say. Paul was definitely a bit of a pillock this week, going off to the hotel room with an ex, and deserved every bit of that telling off het got from Billy afterwards. We absolutely have sympathy for everything Gemma's going through too, and as for Ryan's story... yeah, it's going through all the expected beats. But hey, at least they've remembered Michelle exists! And would Stephen please just hurry up and bump off Elaine already? There's a good amount of news to chat about this week at least, including the announcement of a new show to celebrate Barbara Knox's 90th birthday; plus, there's the Inside Soap Award nominations to discuss! We round the show off with more of your lovely feedback. Street Talk: 00:23:22 The Kabin: 01:46:52 Feedback: 02:09:26

    Brian Capron Interview

If you're like us, you'll have been loving watching Richard Hillman's reign of terror reaching its climax in recent weeks on Classic Corrie on ITV3. To mark the occasion, for this week's bonus podcast, we chatted to actor Brian Capron - the man behind the murderer! Brian has so many stories about his time on the show so if you're into behind the scenes secrets, you're going to love this! Conversation Street Episode 582

In our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 26th and the 30th June (Episodes #10989 - 10994). Did anyone else find Corrie to be absolutely fantastic this week? There were revelations aplenty, like Sarah's pregnancy, the truth about the actual identity of 'Bec' and of course the fact that Ty's birth mum Cassie is actually alive and well. Then you had some brilliant scenes such as that nine-minute hospital room epic between Evelyn and Cassie, and Shona getting emotional over Max's victim statement. Stephen's increasing frustrations with both Owen and Elaine made us chuckle, and the hopelessness of Paul's tragic tale gave way to some heartwarming moments like the left-handed darts match and Dee-Dee's stories about how her faith got her through some tough times in LA. An absolute banger of a week, which led to a particularly lengthy Street Talk segment! Not a whole lot of news this week, but we did have one or two items to cover like the introduction of some real life Roy's Rolls rolls to the market at Co-op (why did that great idea take so long?) and then we round the episode off with some feedback. 2023: Our Reflections On The Year So Far

It's the end of June, which can only mean one thing: our annual look at the first half of the year so far! In this week's bonus podcast, we chat about what's really worked well for us in terms of storylines and character development since January, from the gripping drama of the acid attack and Amy's rape to the campy fun of Stephen's bumbling murder spree. Secret affairs, exploding vans, the loss of poor Cerberus.. It's actually been quite a packed year so far, and it was fun being able to take a step back and see how we feel it's all gelling together, and ponder what the next six months may have in store.

    Conversation Street Episode 581

In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 19th and the 23rd June 2023 (Episodes #10983 - 10988). Remember when Max was inside and he heard Ryan's desperate message to Crystal on Daisy's phone? Yeah, we'd forgotten about that too, so it came as a bit of a shock to us when he revealed this information to Ryan on Monday's episode - though not as much as the shock Ryan got, clearly! Now how long will the secret snogs with Daisy stay hidden from Daniel, we wonder..? Meanwhile, With the late night licence in full swing, the Bistro story needs a new buzzword to drop into every other scene, and now it's the turn of 'pop up restaurant' - but with Damon popping off before it can actually do any popping up, will the plans actually go ahead? Also this week, Paul doesn't want to be a charity case, Brian plans a tour of the 'northern Riviera' for Isabella and Bec discovers the reason behind Max's incarceration - and she ain't happy! Next up on the podcast, we take a flying visit to The Kabin to chat about a few news items for the week before ending with more of your listener feedback. Conversation Street Episode 580

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 12th and the 16th June (Episodes #10977 - 10982). New set alert! It feels like it's been a long time coming, but we finally get to see Elaine and Stephen's new flat this week, which, very fittingly for everyone's favourite deadly Canadian uncle, immediately becomes the scene of an attempted murder. Tim's suspicions are raised thanks to a slip-up on Stephen's part involving a trip to the shops for some bread - can Tim use his loaf and suss Stephen out before Elaine is toast? Meanwhile the consent storyline comes to a climax as Aaron leaves Weatherfield in shame - despite still not admitting what he did to Amy. It's an exit that some viewers may find somewhat unsatisfying as it seems like he got away with his crime - but we personally loved it! Also this week, Isabella continues to grate, Max and Bec become an item and Sarah fights for her marriage. Up next on the podcast it's the Kabin, where we react to the news that a certain nonagenarian Corrie star jumped out of a plane last weekend! We round off the show with a bit of listener feedback. Conversation Street Episode 579

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 5th and the 9th June (Episodes #10971 - 10976). Isn't it strange how much hype and expectations for a week can affect your enjoyment of it? We'd built ourselves up for the BGT episodes so much that we couldn't help but be a little disappointed last week, but with that build up removed for this week, we were able to simply enjoy them for what they were - a solid set of eps that were super tense and dramatic at times and laugh out loud funny at others. There've been a good number of bad mothers over the years on Corrie, and Sarah's actions this week put her comfortably among them as she tried to convince little Harry that he was seeing things when he reported witnessing a full-on snoggeroo between her and Damon. With the affair now out in the open, surely a pregnancy has got to be on the horizon? Meanwhile, the Baileys' encounter with two of their snobby ex-neighbours sets the wheels in motion for a proper classic Corrie comedy caper. On top of all that, we've got the surprising verdict in Justin's trial, Carla's resignation from the factory for what feels like the millionth time (and a possible next victim for Stephen in the form of new boss Owen?) and our first encounter with a resident of the precinct flats. All in all, a great week! There's some heartbreaking news in The Kabin this week as Corrie legend Julie Goodyear is diagnosed with dementia, but there's also lots to celebrate too, including the British Soap Award results and the opening of the new exhibition space at The Coronation Street Experience. We round off the podcast with more of your feedback, including thoughts on BGT Week, Maxine's murder on Classic Corrie and a celebration of Dee Dee Bailey! Conversation Street Episode 578

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 29th May and the 2nd June 2023 (Episodes #10966 - 10970) Britain's Got Talent week is here again, and you know what that means for Corrie: stunts galore, massive twists and long-running stories reaching their climax... except that didn't really happen this year. We've seen a wide range of opinions on this year's 'big week', and although we sit somewhere in the middle, we must admit that it didn't quite live up to our hopes for the week. Yes, Gemma's wedding was lovely and the dress was absolutely perfect for her; yes, the performances from the various actors reacting to Paul's news were all spot on; and yes, the courtroom drama ramped up nicely on Friday. But we still can't feel like things could have been bigger, especially when it came to the acid attack story, which felt it took a little too long to get going - plus the less said about that kiss at the end of the week the better! Come on Daisy - it took us a long time to warm up to you as a character... please don't spoil it! This episode was recorded from our AirBnB in Sale as we're up north again for the British Soap Awards this weekend. After a long day's drive (and no time for dinner before recording!), we didn't have the energy for news and feedback for this week, so it's a Street Talk only episode this time. Look out for our reactions from the awards over the coming days, though!

    Listener Questions

This week's bonus podcast is another Listener Question segment! First up, we ponder who on Corrie is being underused at the moment, and with a huge cast of characters to choose from, there are bound to be a few that get short changed. Are they ones we really mind not seeing much of, though? After that, we're asked about product placement on Corrie, which has been a thing ever since Dev introduced those Nationwide ATMs into the Corner Shop over a decade ago. What do we think of it, and which brands would we suggest Corrie should work with if it was looking for a new partner?

    Conversation Street Episode 577

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th May 2023 (Episodes #10960 - 10965). This week's podcast really was a case of finding some light in the darkness because by 'eck, wasn't that a grim set of episodes? Not that the scripts or performances were poor or anything, but it just seemed like there wasn't a lot of happiness for anyone! Top of the misery list, of course, was Paul, whose worsening condition causes him to be a bit of a party pooper at the stag and hen do on Wednesday. We just hope that Gemma and Chesney can have a happy wedding next week before the news of Paul's MND spreads further... Also this week, Craig and Tim were left teary eyed when Faye made the decision to do a classic Corrie flit and move to Slough with Miley and Jackson. Meanwhile, Roy suffers angina attacks, Hope's dumped by Sam after she sabotages Eliza's birthday party and Daisy is getting anxious about next week's big court case. In The Kabin, we take a look at the nominations in this year's NTAs, report a lengthy delay in the publication of Maggie Sullivan's next Coronation Street novel and uncover some evidence online that a head swap may soon be on the cards for one of the Corrie kids! We round things off with a little bit of feedback. Street Talk - 00:17:22 The Kabin - 02:11:57 Feedback - 02:38:30

    Faye Windass Character Profile Revisit

Back in Episode #101 of the podcast, we ran a character profile of a young Faye Windass and her first few years on the Street. For this week's bonus show, as Faye leaves Weatherfield, sloping off to Slough with Jackson and Miley, we take a look at what she's been up to in the nine years since. A teenage pregnancy, a prison sentence, early menopause, and of course being caught up as a minor character in the villainous tales of Pat Phelan and Geoff Metcalfe... it's been an eventful decade for Faye, and one that has given us plenty to chat about as we say a one final goodbye to her.

    Conversation Street Episode 576

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 15th and the 19th May 2023 (Episodes #10954 - 10959). Overall, we felt this was a bit of a 'treading water' week, to be honest - not necessarily poor episodes (although the heavy focus on Faye and Craig on Friday definitely wasn't that exciting) - but fairly slow plot development or things we felt we'd seen before. Daisy's still pretending to be Crystal, Paul's still wanting to keep his diagnosis a secret, Max is still finding prison life hard, Faye still can't decide whether to leave Craig or not... Sure, the Amy story has taken a bit of a turn, what with Abi now believing her and Eric suing her for her so-called libellous comments about his son, and Linda returning for the run-up to the wedding was fun, but overall.. just not much for us to get our teeth into, discussion-wise! Still, we're only a few weeks away from BGT week, so hopefully there's some exciting stuff on the horizon! The big news this week, of course, was the official announcement of the Coronation Street Experience including its new exhibition space. Yes, we'd already chatted about that in our recent bonus podcast, but that didn't stop us getting excited about it all over again here! We round off the show with more of your feedback, including a question about which recent episode of Corrie we'd recommend a new viewer start off with.
