When Cavalier Genève introduced the Cavalier Genève US Regional Exclusive in 2022, it represented more than a rebranded product—it marked the company's broader commitment to regional identity and manufacturing control. The cigar's history reveals how a young brand evolved its strategy while maintaining demanding production standards. The line's origins trace back to 2016, when Cavalier released the Black Series, a San Andres-wrapped exclusive for the U.S. market. This initial offering proved successful enough that the company later introduced the Black Series II for broader global distribution. However, by 2021, founder Sebastien Decoppet had begun planning a larger transformation. That year proved pivotal for Cavalier. After five years partnering with third-party factories, Decoppet opened Fabrica Centroamericana de Tabaco S.A. (FCT) in Danlí, Honduras. This shift from relying on Plasencia's San Judas Tadeo facility to operating proprietary manufacturing gave Cavalier direct control over production, quality, and versatility. Decoppet stated at the time that bringing operations in-house was necessary "to improve versatility and ensure the destiny of Cavalier Genève Cigars is in our hands alone." By December 2022, Cavalier announced the next phase of its U.S. strategy: rebranding and reblending the USA Exclusive Black I as the Cavalier Genève US Regional Exclusive. The company emphasized this was both a rebrand and a reblend, designed to separate the line from its previous associations within Cavalier's portfolio. The new blend reflects a deliberate choice. Its composition—a San Andres wrapper, Connecticut binder, and fillers sourced from the U.S., Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic—intentionally incorporates American tobacco. This sourcing strategy connects directly to the cigar's regional purpose. Decoppet explained the thinking: "We have been working to separate this line from the affiliation it had with other products in the portfolio," and position it as part of a "Regional Exclusive section of the Cavalier line up that will showcase several regional products for countries across the world." The US Regional Exclusive launched in four sizes, ranging from Petit Robusto to Double Corona, with pricing between $9.90 and $11.40 per cigar. Today, the line remains available exclusively in the United States, serving as both a product and a statement about Cavalier's manufacturing independence and regional strategy. The exterior features a dark Nicaraguan Broadleaf wrapper leaf. Beneath the wrapper, the internal blend incorporates a Nicaraguan binder along with Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos.
