Making Little Movies and Enjoying The Simpsons

Send us an email Welcome back to episode 121 of Chummy Thumbs! This week, you'll hear Shao and Hayden talking about the short film they all just made, and a little bit of a fan favourite series, The Simpsons. Justin will be back next week! 10 years since Hayden found himself in the director's chair. How was it? What was the journey like leading to this? What would he change in the future? Having good actors made for a fun shoot. The end results were a pleasure to behold, and yes, it will find its way online (YouTube) in the very near future. The Nightmare Before Christmas... is it a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? Or both? What are some of the films we watched as a kid that we wouldn't recommend these days? The Simpsons, 38 seasons and counting! What are some of the favourite seasons and episodes? Was there a moment that had Shao and Hayden bonding over before they even knew they both liked the show? Should we review the latest Treehouse of Horrors episode before Halloween comes around? Let us know! Always Wear Proper Shoes When Climbing Ladders

Send us an email Welcome back with episode 120 of Chummy Thumbs! We're back after a short break (we made a movie shhh) This week's film is brought to you by brilliant British director Guy Ritchie and his latest offering, 'In the Grey', now playing on Amazon Prime. A heist film with a tight runtime, starring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza Gonzalez, a billion dollars stolen, a private island, and an extraction team sent in to retrieve it. What are our favourite scenes? Jail break... Cafe rescue... Does it feel like parts of the film are missing? Maybe a middle act of the story? Is it worth your time to watch it? Sure, maybe once. This and so much more is discussed in this episode. So sit back and enjoy the discussion. Stick around until the end for our review score of the film! Elvis and a Chesterfield, Now That's a True Romance

Send us an email Welcome to episode 119 of Chummy Thumbs! This week we take a look back at a little film from the year 1993. What film do you say? Why it's 'True Romance', directed by Tony Scott (TopGun) and written by none other than Quentin Tarantino. A script sold to help finance another picture, this film has all the flair and style we've come to expect from a Tarantino piece. Tony Scott does wonders with the material and makes it his own. A laundry list of A-list actors, who back in the 90s were all just beginning their journeys as actors. What a trip to see them 30 years ago! What are our favourite scenes? Sicilian heritage? What are our most liked character performances? Brad Pitt, perhaps? Is it worth your time to watch a film from this decade? We highly recommend it! This and so much more is discussed in this episode. Emo Haircuts and the Police, Now Lets Catch a Killer

Send us an email Welcome to episode 118 of Chummy Thumbs! Summer break is over and the kids are back in school. Hayden talks about the fine print of Police appearance protocol This week we discuss the 2026 psychological drama thriller The Whisper Man, now playing on Netflix. Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Michael Keaton... Now that's a call sheet, but does it translate to on-screen gold? Paint by numbers thriller? Muddled writing? Predictable? Daytime versus nighttime viewing? Who is the copycat killer? Supernatural themes? As you can see, we had a lot to say and discuss about this film. Why not join us and see what you think. Batman Breaking Badly with a Lioness

Send us an email Welcome to episode 117 of Chummy Thumbs! This week we drop the first of a new format. You'll hear these in the show's rotation every now and then. What makes it different is we pick a predetermined theme, and we each choose a film or show to discuss. This week we start with 'Hidden Identity'; what choices do we make? Hayden sticks with superheroes and chooses a favourite from his youth, the 1989 'Batman'. Shao goes brand new: a documentary recently released, 'Raygun Breaking Badly'. Justin hits us with season three of a powerful spy action thriller, 'Lioness'. The Bluff, the pirate action-drama-thriller starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Carl Urban, going head-to-head. Catch it on Prime video. This and so much more is discussed in this episode. So sit back and enjoy the discussion. Audition Callback Leads to Pirate Action Talk on 'The Bluff'

Send us an email Welcome to episode 116 of Chummy Thumbs! The team allows Hayden to make another pick... for those playing along at home, historically this has not turned out too well for him. The Bluff, the pirate action-drama-thriller starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Carl Urban, going head-to-head. Catch it on Prime video. - If you like films along the lines of John Wick or Atomic Blonde this film might be right up your alley. - What do you get if you play with the revenge action genre with a character who has a past, but place them in the late 1800s pirate-era Caribbean islands? - You get a unique kick-ass hour-and-a-half non-stop thrill ride. - Excellent leads, fantastic secondary characters, unique and fresh takes on certain moments that offer a new take on old tropes. - It has it all. This and so much more is discussed in this episode. So sit back and enjoy the discussion. D23 Hype Meets Loki Season Two Payoff

Send us an email Welcome to episode 115 of Chummy Thumbs! Comic-accurate Wolverine at four feet tall? That dumb little question turns out to be a perfect way to talk about what we actually want from adaptations: exact details from the page, or the feeling a character gives you when they walk into a scene. From there we jump into a packed D23 roundup, sorting real signal from pure hype across Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Disney Animation, including what has us excited for what’s next on the release calendar. Then we slow down for something that actually matters: the Jim Cummings snub. We talk about why voice actors so often get ignored even when they’ve built the emotional backbone of Disney for decades, and why fans are right to call it out. If you grew up with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Darkwing Duck, or a dozen other characters you didn’t even realize shared the same performer, this part hits home. Finally, we go deep on Loki Season 2, especially the second half and that finale that dares to make time travel feel like character work instead of a cheat code. We dig into the fear that time-slipping becomes a reset button, the paradox loops, the reveal that the Temporal Loom is a failsafe, and the moment Loki completes the biggest arc of his MCU life by becoming the guardian of infinite timelines. We also get into the Yggdrasil Tree of Life imagery, the ethics of pruning, and the uncomfortable question at the center of the multiverse saga: is one sacred timeline “safer,” or just control dressed up as order? If you’re into the MCU, Loki, the TVA, and where Avengers Doomsday could be heading, you’ll get a lot out of this one. Send us an email Welcome to episode 111 of Chummy Thumbs! We get into the series 'The Hooligan', a 5-episode Polish Netflix series. - We start with some catch-up talk as we've been gone for an extra week due to Hayden having to take some time off. - Skip to 15:15 for the show review The World Cup is done and dusted now (Congratulations Spain), so why not stay along the lines of the game.
