Guided Journey Into Inner Wisdom And What Mine Revealed
Recently, I came to realize, the archway in my Midlife Magic logo isn’t just a pretty design element. It’s actually a portal and the opening to midlife magic itself. So, I decided to find out what would happen if I walked through it in a meditative journey. That’s the beauty of a guided journey. You close your eyes, you set an intention, and you let your imagination and your inner wisdom take you somewhere that your everyday thinking mind would never go on its own. I’ve done this work for years, but two recent journeys of my own reminded me exactly why I love it and why I created an event around it. What Is a Guided Journey? A guided meditative journey is a form of inner wisdom work where you use visualization to travel somewhere with your imagination to bring back an answer. You’re not being told what to think or feel. You simply ask a question, then follow the imagery that your inner wisdom creates. Sometimes the answer shows up like a video, as you step through a portal into a meadow. Other times it’s a single image, a memory, a feeling, or a knowing that arrives with no explanation at all. There isn’t one right way for it to unfold, and that’s part of what makes a guided journey so different from a typical meditation. I’s not about simply relaxing or quieting your mind, but retrieving a message or solution. Blue Beings with a Simple Message For my first journey, which I emailed details about the other day, I closed my eyes, took a few deep breaths, and called in my guides and angels. I set the intention to only connect with beings of 100% light, and I asked for help bringing more fun, laughter, and connection into my life. Then I stepped through the archway in my mind. Here’s the short version of what transpired. I found myself in a meadow with tall grass, yellow and white butterflies, and warm sun on my skin. Next, a bubble appeared, and something told me it was there to take me off world. I arrived in a room with three blue, human-like beings sitting on a couch, like shining lights. They were calm and I felt safe. They addressed my intention immediately, before I said a word. Their answer was laughably simple: “Breathe in fun, laughter, and connection. Just inhale the energy you want.” This message got me thinking. While most advice out there treats raising your vibration like an emotional ordeal, its also possible that every energetic upgrade doesn’t have to be a battle. Some things really can be as simple as breathing. And, if I get to choose between hard and easy, I’ll choose easy every time. A Peacock and a Fish For the second journey, my question was more open-ended, “What do I need to know today?” I found myself at the edge of a coastal estuary with a kayak waiting for me on the shore. As I paddled through calm water, I spotted a peacock high in a tree. It spread its tail feathers wide,. How beautiful! I heard it’s message clearly, “It’s time to show the world your colors and let people see what you’re all about.” After thinking about this for a bit, it came to me that I’m still putting off creating videos, and this felt like a direct nudge to do that and be bolder. The next thing that happened was a large fish jumped across the bow of my kayak from right to left. To me, this signals going back in time. The instruction that followed was strange, “Go back in time to change an unsatisfactory memory and make it work out better. A situation from 2005 immediately surfaced. I was working on a telesummit with a partner that fell apart when her coach convinced her she didn’t need to work with me. I was devastated and ended up running the event alone with eleven authors. It took me weeks to recover afterward. In the journey, I didn’t try to change the falling-out. Instead, I reimagined running that same event solo, but with only six authors instead of eleven. This version felt manageable instead of overwhelming. I sat with that new memory until it felt real, and something shifted. I hadn’t asked to revisit 2005. I’d simply asked what I needed to know for the day, and my inner wisdom knew exactly where to take me to what was ready to be healed. Why Inner Work Beats Overthinking Both of these journeys show me something that I come back to again and again. Your inner wisdom doesn’t can provide guidance in a number of ways. It might drop you into an unexpected scene, show you a single image, or hand you a memory to revisit. You might suddenly have knowledge that you aren’t sure how you came by, have a feeling that brings in certainty, or hear a voice with a message. A guided journey its helpful because it bypasses the part of your brain that overthinks and second-guesses. You’re not thinking about an answer, you’re receiving one. That’s a very different process than sitting with a journal and trying to reason your way through a decision. Or find some new understanding about a situation. This is why so many of my clients get clarity quickly, through this intuitive work rather than months of thinking could provide. This Is the Magic There are many ways to access your inner wisdom and guided journeys are one of the most powerful. They’re also a lot of fun! A guided journey uses visualization and intention to help your inner wisdom answer a question your thinking mind can’t provide. The message might arrive as a scene, an image, a memory, a feeling, or a simple knowing. Not every energetic shift has to be hard. Sometimes the simplest approach, like a few conscious breaths, is genuinely enough. A guided journey can be used to revisit and reframe a difficult memory, changing how you experience it going forward. You don’t have to have meditation experience or be highly intuitive to get results You Can Try Inner Wisdom Journeys These stories about my personal inner journeys are exactly why I created Inner Wisdom Journeys, a monthly guided journey held live over Zoom. Inner Wisdom Journeys The 3rd Thursday of the Month, 8–9pm ET Next Session is Thursday, Sept. 9/17 Register Here FAQs What is a guided journey? A guided journey is a visualization practice where you set an intention or have a question, then follow the imagery, feelings, or your imagination to uncover an answer from your inner wisdom, spirit guides, or intuition, rather than reasoning your way to the information. Do I need meditation experience to do a guided journey? No. A guided journey only requires an open mind and your imagination. You don’t need prior meditation practice or to consider yourself especially intuitive to receive meaningful insight. How is a guided journey different from a regular meditation? A regular meditation is often focused on relaxation. A guided journey is focused on retrieval. It takes you somewhere else to gather an answer, image, or insight tied to a question you bring with you. Can a guided journey help with a specific decision or understanding a situation? Yes. Bringing a specific question into a guided journey often reveals clarity, an unexpected memory, or a direct message that speaks to the decision, or situation, offering a next step your everyday mind might not have considered. It can also provide confirmation of something you’ve been thinking about. What happens during the Inner Wisdom Journeys session? Each monthly session opens with intention-setting, followed by a 20-minute guided journey on that month’s theme. There’s time for sharing your insights, and I can help interpret any messages that came through if needed.
