Once, while travelling on a pilgrimage, Saint Namdev visited a capital city. A thief came to hear his teachings and said that he wanted to live a better life but could not give up stealing because it was his livelihood. Namdev advised him not to leave his profession immediately, but to always speak the truth. By faithfully following this vow of truthfulness, the thief gradually transformed his life and eventually earned the position of a minister in the king’s court.
