Heroes & Villains: Uncover Up with Lee Kuhnle & Nathan Radke

In this episode we're joined by Lee Kuhnle and Nathan Radke to discuss their new book Uncover Up: How to Think Clearly in an Age of Conspiracies. The book is an amazing deep dive into the world of conspiracies and is absolutely essential reading in this day and age. You can also check out Lee and Nathan's podcast HERE. From the publisher: Conspiratorial thinking, mis- and disinformation, and anti-intellectualism are at dangerous levels. With traditional media on the way out, social media algorithms siloing users into personal echo chambers, and generative AI muddying the waters, it’s getting harder and harder to tell news from nonsense. Our ability to think critically about the world around us is being undermined by these forces and many others, which are being used to sow confusion, disrupt democracy, damage the environment, and degrade social well-being. With clear-eyed reasoning and examples that are equal parts fascinating and shocking, Uncover Up: How to Think Clearly in an Age of Conspiracies offers sociological, historical, philosophical, and literary perspectives on conspiracy theories, allowing us to cut through the fog of misinformation. This guide to critical thinking helps us recognize when, how, and why a piece of dubious media is able to shape our worldview or secure our support, ultimately showing us how to critically approach the deluge of questionable claims we encounter every day. Figure Friday Kolchak: The Night Stalker by Wandering Planet Toys

In this extra special non-Friday edition of Figure Friday, Doc Wyatt and Gavin Hignight of Wandering Planet Toys return to talk about their new Kickstarter campaign: Kolchak: The Night Stalker 1/12 Scale Collectible Figures! In this episode we discuss what make Carl Kolchak such a compelling protagonist, the film noir roots of the character, and Wandering Planet's secret action figure line shared universe that's been hiding in plain sight all along! You can back the campaign RIGHT HERE. And catch Gavin Hignight at the Indie Toy Makers Unite! panel during WonderCon 2026 on Saturday 3/26 in the Anaheim Convention Center (room 209) from 6-7 PM. It was 1970 when Jeff Rice, a novelist from Providence, Rhode Island (home of HP Lovecraft), created of one of the most enduring characters in weird fiction, the reporter known as CARL KOLCHAK. Kolchak was conceived in a novel originally entitled “The Kolchak Papers,” but made famous by a 1972 TV movie called THE NIGHT STALKER, a recording-breaking ratings smash. The film spawned a sequel, THE NIGHT STRANGLER, and a much beloved, but short-lived cult hit TV series, KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER. It all started on the seedy streets of 1970s Las Vegas and on the pages of Jeff Rice’s incredible crime novel that tip-toed into the supernatural. And yet with all the years of fandom, the series, the books and comic books, Carl Kolchak has never been explored in action figure form… until now! Wandering Planet Toys is proud to partner with Monstrous Books to present the FIRST EVER officially licensed KOLCHAK ACTION FIGURE. Presented as a 1/12 scale modern deluxe figure based on his character in the book, this figure features 22 points of articulation (similar to “Star Wars Black Series,” “Marvel Legends,” and “Project Monster Force” figures), interchangeable hands and accessories!
