In this 127th episode of Sober Head Podcast, Dr. Esra Çavuşoğlu, PhD welcomes Prof. Tzipi Strauss, MD, MPH.
Prof. Tzipi Strauss is a physician specializing in pediatrics and neonatology, and a professor at Tel Aviv University. She works at Sheba Medical Center, with a focus on early-life health, biological age, and longevity.
What if aging begins long before adulthood; even before birth?
In this episode of SoberHead Podcast, Esra Çavuşoğlu speaks with Prof. Tzipi Strauss, neonatologist and director of the Sheba Longevity Center, about pediatric longevity and why our lifelong health may be shaped in the womb and during early childhood.
We explore epigenetic programming, the Barker hypothesis, premature birth, early adiposity rebound, childhood obesity, and the potential epigenetic effects of IVF. Prof. Strauss explains why biological age cannot be measured in children the same way it is in adults, and why early prevention could change long-term health trajectories.
We also go inside Sheba's hospital-based longevity program to explore biological age testing, muscle mass, cognitive performance, menopause, intrinsic capacity, and the difference between healthspan and lifespan.
Can longevity medicine become accessible to everyone without expensive supplements and unproven treatments? And what can parents do today to support their children's lifelong health?
The central message: Longevity is not just about adding years to life. It is about protecting health from the very beginning.
