Jose Dávila

Jose Dávila is a renowned Mexican artist whose multidisciplinary practice brings together art and architecture. Originally from Guadalajara, his work is distinguished by the interplay between industrial materials—such as concrete, glass, and steel—and natural elements, including rocks and wood. Through these contrasts, he explores themes such as urbanism and the relationship between human beings and natural resources. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in the collections of institutions including the Reina Sofía Museum, the Centre Pompidou, the Guggenheim, and the UBS Art Collection, among others. In this conversation, we revisit his artistic journey and explore key themes in his practice: gravity as a certainty, the dialogue between the natural and the industrial, and the prejudice against colour in art. *The spoken language in this episode is Spanish.
