Why Does February Have 28 Days?? | After Skool

Why Does February Have 28 Days?? We can thank the Romans for our chaotic complex calendar system. February has been a neglected month throughout history. Essentially, it got it's 28 days because the Romans used the lunar cycles to design the months when they should have based their calendar off of the sun. Superstition and politics also played a major part in creating the months. In any case, it's too late to change it now. Please tell us your thoughts on the calendar system in the comments below. He explains that most people believe they can't do something because of a lack of resources. They don't accomplish their goal because they don't have enough money, enough time, enough ability, etc. The most successful people don't achieve their success because resources are handed to them, they achieve success because they are RESOURCEFUL. Resourcefulness is the ultimate resource. AUDIENCE CAPTURE - How "Influencers" Become Brainwashed by Their Audiences | After Skool

AUDIENCE CAPTURE - How "Influencers" Become Brainwashed by Their Audiences We often talk of "captive audiences," regarding the performer as hypnotizing their viewers. But just as often, it's the viewers hypnotizing the performer. This disease, of which Perry is but one victim of many, is known as audience capture, and it's essential to understanding influencers in particular and the onlineecosystem in general.Audience capture is an irresistible force in the world of influencing, because it's not just a conscious process but also an unconscious one. While it may ostensibly appear to be a simple case of influencers making a business decision to create more of the content they believe audiences want, and then being incentivized by engagement numbers to remain in this niche forever, it's actually deeper than that. It involves the gradual and unwitting replacement of a person's identity with one custom-made for the audience.Extra Stuff: Check out Gurwinder's Substack - https://gurwinder.substack.com/ Follow Gurwinder on Twitter - https://twitter.com/G_S_BhogalPlease consider supporting After Skool on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AfterSkool Visit our site at https://www.afterskool.net/ Or send us an email at afterskool100@gmail.comSong at the end: "On the Run" by Part Native https://soundcloud.com/partnativePlease share, like, comment, subscribe and hit the notifications bell so you don't miss future videos. Mass Extinction Crisis TODAY | After Skool

Mass Extinction Crisis TODAY There have been 6 massive extinctions in our planet’s history. The first, happened 440 million years ago when an Extreme temperature drops froze the oceans and killed 86% of early life on earth.Over the next 66 million years, the seas repopulated, but an enormous algae bloom sucked up all the oxygen in the ocean and suffocated over half of all aquatic life.124 million years later, volcanic gases destroyed the ozone and caused the most devastating extinction in our planet’s existence.Only 50 million years later, a giant volcanic rift split the earth, creating the Atlantic Ocean, but in doing so released a lethal wave of Carbon Dioxide, killing 80% of life.Evolution had the next 135 million years transform small amphibious creatures into the biggest reptiles to ever roam our planet. However, An asteroid the size of a small city crashed into present-day Mexico rapidly wiping out nearly ALL the dinosaurs.65 million years later humans have taken over as the dominant species. Our ability to use tools has given rise to an industrial revolution and control over practically every natural environment. With agriculture and modern medicine, the human population has exploded from 1 billion in 1900 to 7.5 billion in 2016.It is because of our dominance and overconsumption that the 6th mass extinction is happening as we speak. Species today are dying out 1000x faster than before humans existed. There is now more plastic in the ocean than fish! Approximately 15 billion trees are chopped down each year and Carbon Dioxide levels have increased 25% in the last 50 years. If we continue our destructive trend, Scientists predict half of all living species could be extinct in the next 100 years. So what can YOU do?Compost, recycle, start an edible garden, eat less meat, walk or bike instead of drive and do everything you can to reduce your footprint on this planet. We now know that it's going to take MORE than driving a Prius or changing your lightbulb to SAVE OUR PLANET. Every one of us is part of this world, and so what we door don’t dohas an impact on the world around us. ARE YOU AN ALPHA? - Simon Sinek - Why Leaders Eat Last | After Skool

ARE YOU AN ALPHA? - Simon Sinek - Why Leaders Eat Last In this in-depth talk, ethnographer and leadership expert Simon Sinek reveals the hidden dynamics that inspire leadership and trust. In biological terms, leaders get the first pick of food and other spoils, but at a cost. When danger is present, the group expects the leader to mitigate all threats even at the expense of their personal well-being. Understanding this deep-seated expectation is the key difference between someone who is just an "authority" versus a true "leader."For more animated talks please subscribe.Animation by https://www.kramgallery.com/Full presentation can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReRcHdeUG9Y Follow the podcast for new episodes. The Buddhabrot - The Fractal Image That Unlocked Carl Jung’s Deepest Theory | After Skool

The Buddhabrot - The Fractal Image That Unlocked Carl Jung’s Deepest Theory A few months ago, a groundbreaking study was published that linked fractal geometry to Carl Jung's theories. I contacted Dr Harry Shirley, the author of the study, to record a podcast about his findings. The discovery has changed the way I see everything - art, myth, culture, emotions, people - it's all fractals. Numbers are the key to this riddle. Before Carl Jung died, he hypothesized the number was the link between mind and matter, because it is both quantitative to the material world AND symbolic to the psychological realm. Several decades after Carl Jung's death, mathematicians stumbled upon the Buddhabrot set, a beautiful fractal pattern. The shape formed is entirely numerical iteration, derived from a simple mathematical formula , but the image produced looks like a spirit being. Dr Harry Shirley has made an incredible connection, linking the Buddhabrot to Carl Jung's concepts of archetypes and depth psychology. We can see hints of this connection is meaningful art, alchemical images, ancient monuments and religious architecture. I have even been unknowingly summoning the Buddhabrot in my own artwork. To view the study here https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/6te7w_v1Publication here - https://brill.com/view/journals/ijjs/aop/article-10.1163-19409060-bja10049/article-10.1163-19409060-bja10049.xmlCarl Jung (1875-1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. Ancient Egyptian Birth Control | After Skool

Ancient Egyptian Birth Control Over 4000 years ago, Ancient Egyptians were far ahead of their time. They had advanced architecture, agriculture, writing and even birth control. Crocodile dung, Acacia fruit, pomegranate seeds and lamb intestines were just a few of the items that ancient Egyptians used in order to prevent birth. Although these methods may seems bizarre to us today, they were actually quite effective and Egypt did have a much lower birth rate than other areas of the world during the same time. Please subscribe for more interesting animations.Animation by https://www.kramgallery.com/Sources: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2156481/pdf/jroyalcgprac00261-0012.pdf http://www.scihub.org/AJSMS/PDF/2012/3/AJSMS-3-3-93-98.pdf http://www.stoa.org/diotima/essays/wardlect.shtml http://fathom.lib.uchicago.edu/2/21701778/ http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/broughttolife/techniques/earlymethodsofbirthcontrol http://www.lisapoyakama.org/en/the-contraceptive-methods-in-ancient-egypt/ http://nssp.unm.edu/important-resources/brief-history-ancient-egypt.pdf http://www.history.com/topics/ancient-history/ancient-egypt Follow the podcast for new episodes.
