Active Ingredient Podcast

Sophie Weill

Welcome to Active Ingredient - a podcast and platform for those of us who are in the process of co-creating lives and businesses that feel rooted, expansive, resonant and true to us. I'm your host, Sophie Weill, and I'm a deeply curious human who is also on my own journey of co-creating a life and businesses that are true to me. I'm the founder of Nude Nation, a creative brand building agency as well as the co-founder of Piano Piano, a tableware brand rooted in slowing down and coming alive.

I've spent my entire career building and amplifying brands and the humans behind them and what I have come to understand is that the inner work precedes the outer growth and that everything in life is a mirror of our internal state which is precisely what we're here to connect on.

Welcome to Active Ingredient - I am so glad you're here.

How to Keep Going /Growing Within Long-Term Relationships & in Business with Kate McLeod

This week's episode is jam packed with so much insight and wisdom for anyone who is looking to build a solid business and/or a relationship or relationships that are deeply rooted in truth and integrity and that you're in it for the long haul. I have Kate Mcleod on the show today - founder and master formulator of her namesake bodycare brand, Kate Mcleod, that is sold at Sephora, Nordstrom, Goop among several other retailers and to date have sold over 1 million of their hero product, The Body Stone. Kate has lived many many lives - she worked on Wall Street, trained as a yoga teacher, went to culinary school in Italy, and opened a bakery in London where she worked as a pastry chef - all of those past lives have set her up to be the perfect person to do exactly what she's doing now with Kate Mcleod. Her outer brand is mirror of her inner instinct and journey. The main takeaway from this conversation for me was this: staying connected to what genuinely feels true (the ingredient, the pace, the way you build) is what actually drives growth, not what slows it down and the second takeaway is to read Conscious Loving by Gay Hendricks lol this will make sense in the first 10 minutes of the convo. Boxing as a Tool to Physically Process Rage with Alberto Ortiz of Work Train Fight

This week's episode is all about the importance of acknowledging, confronting, processing and moving rage and/or anger through and out of the body. And we're specifically talking about doing this through the tool of boxing. I brought my boxing trainer on, Alberto Ortiz, who is the founder of Work Train Fight - a boxing gym in soho in New York where I have boxed with him for 10 years - to talk about what boxing is actually doing on a deeper level and how it's such a potent tool when it comes to processing tougher emotions, liberating yourself and becoming more and more aligned, integrated and embodied. In this episode we're talking about how boxing saves lives, why confronting your darker tougher emotions and parts of ourselves is so important and liberating, the importance of letting yourself be seen and using your voice, and why keeping you fighting spirit alive. For my New York listeners, Alberto let me know he is offering Active Ingredient listeners a complimentary 1:1 boxing session at his gym which is truly life changing. I simply cannot recommend it enough! Protecting Creativity, Visibility Fears & Building With Integrity With Tonya Papanikolov

I'm joined by Tonya Papanikolov, founder of Rainbo, for a conversation on visibility, creativity, slowing down, building with integrity, and learning to trust yourself through every season of growth. We talk about the fear of being seen, what happens when life calls you inward, the tension between freedom and responsibility, feminine vs. masculine energy in business, aging, beauty, Human Design, and how to know when to stay the course vs. pivot. This felt less like an interview and more like two projectors having a very honest conversation about what it means to build a life and business that actually feels true. Marketing a purpose-driven business without social media with Harry Doull of Keap Candles

If you have been trying to figure out how to build and market your business in alignment and struggle with doing that on social media, this episode is for you. This week, I'm joined by Harry Doull, the founder of Keap Candles, which is a NY-based Benefit Corporation started in 2015 and was inspired by a philosophical question: In an always-on world, how can we reconnect with ourselves and restore our balance with nature? Through artistry and regenerative practices, Keap’s candles have evolved to create what they couldn't find anywhere else: all-natural luxury candles that don't sacrifice scent quality or performance. His biggest message to the active ingredient community is this: if you're finding a sense of internal misalignment with social media in business and or in your personal life, it is possible to operate without it (as we have been for the past 5 years) — and in fact grow a stronger, more resilient business in the process. In this episode we are getting into building and marketing in alignment, alternative ways to connect and grow your community in a nourishing way, the power of candles and the element of fire and committing to your own inner vision even if it clashes with the norm. Keap is offering all Active ingredient listeners 10% off your first order when you use code FINDYOURWHY at checkout - my favorite scents are Wood Cabin and Wild Figs. *GIVEAWAY* We will also be gifting a candle to 1 active ingredient listener who rates and reviews the show on apple and spotify - all you have to do is submit your review and send a screenshot to my personal IG and you enter to win! I'm currently burning my candle and it really is a goodie. Time Stamps: 07:14 - The decision to get off of social media entirely 17:35 - Building offline connections with your community and the impact on the business 24:16 - The future of social media and alternative platforms emerging 30:07 - The bigger role candles play in building connection 40:38 - listening and acting on inner guidance and long-term vision in business 55:27 - natural candle making and what makes Keap different Links: To connect with me: @sophieiweill To check out Active Ingredient clips: @activeingredient Nude Nation Piano Piano Ceramics Keap Candles Hosted on Acast. Human Design as a Tool for Returning to Yourself, Ease, and Abundance with Emma Dunwoody

This week's episode is on a topic that I cannot stop learning about/talking about/playing around with it etc - it's all about Human Design and I had the opportunity to be in conversation with one of the world’s leading educators on the topic, Emma Dunwoody who recently launched her book, Human Design Made Simple. Human Design is a self-discovery umbrella system that encompasses the principles of astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, the chakra system, and quantum physics to reveal how you’re uniquely wired energetically to make decisions, how you interact with others best, and how to best use your energy based on your birth time, birth location and birth date and we get to it in great detail in this episode. To figure out what your Human Design is get your Human Design Chart HERE In this episode, we're getting into Human Design as a tool for self understanding/acceptance, trusting when things feel easeful/downstream, following your own curiosities and of course we get into each one of the designs and practical next steps for each one.
