Accessibly Ever After

Ashton McGrady & Kailey Waskall

Accessibly Ever After is a beauty and lifestyle podcast reimagining makeup, skincare, and cosmetic design through an accessibility-first lens. Created by disabled creators and accessibility advocates, Ashton McGrady & Kailey Waskall, this show exists because too many beauty products still aren’t designed for real bodies, real hands, or real lived experiences. We’re here to change that.

Each week, we review makeup and skincare products, break down what makes packaging accessible (or inaccessible), celebrate thoughtful design wins, and share practical ways to adapt beauty routines for disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent makeup lovers. From easy-open packaging and grip-friendly tools to formulation, usability, and inclusive design, we go beyond trends to talk about what actually works.

Once a month, we release a minisode featuring guests from the beauty industry, accessibility experts, and individuals who creatively adapt products and routines to fit their unique needs.

Our community helps guide the conversation. Follow us on Instagram @AccessiblyEverAfter to submit questions, share accessibility wins or frustrations, and help shape future episodes. All products and resources mentioned are linked in the show notes.

    Crown Collective 👑: Giovanna

In this episode of Accessibly Ever After, Kailey and Ashton sit down with content creator Giovanna (@glamgio_nyc) to talk bold beauty, graphic liner, and making space for neurodivergent creativity in the beauty industry. Giovanna has built a following of over 170k, known for her signature graphic liner looks and colorful, unexpected makeup pairings that break away from traditional glam formulas. Giovanna opens up about her own neurodivergence and how it shapes the way she approaches makeup as a form of self-expression and storytelling. She digs into how bold, experimental beauty can be a tool for confidence and identity, especially for those who don't see themselves reflected in mainstream beauty. She also talks about how overwhelming and stressful brand events can be, the sensory and social demands that often go unspoken, and what she wishes brands understood about creating a more accommodating experience. Deep Into The Well: Luna Daily

This week on Accessibly Ever After, Ashton and Kailey continue their brand deep dive series with Luna Daily, the microbiome-focused bodycare brand founded by Katy Cottam after her own experience with thrush following a course of antibiotics left her unable to use mainstream products on her most intimate skin. Ashton and Kailey dig into Luna Daily's mission to take intimate care out of the "feminine hygiene" aisle and into the everyday skincare conversation, and what accessible bodycare actually looks like for people managing chronic illness and disability. They also get into the practical side: what a lower-effort, one-step skincare product means on a low-spoon day, and where the brand could go further to meet chronically ill and disabled customers where they are. Is Luna Daily's mission to destigmatize intimate care backed up by accessible product design that holds up for chronic illness and disability, or is there still work to do? Tune in for an honest, product-by-product breakdown of accessible beauty and bodycare through a disability lens. Listen now and start seeing beauty differently. Crown Collective 👑: A Conversation with Dr. Julian Sass

In this episode of Accessibly Ever After, Kailey and Ashton sit down with cosmetic scientist and creator Dr. Julian Sass to unpack the science behind beauty products, sunscreen, and formulation. Dr. Sass holds a PhD in Biomathematics and Statistics from North Carolina State University and has spent his career translating complex cosmetic science for everyday consumers, a body of work that's been featured in outlets such as The Washington Post, Vogue, and Today. He's also the creator of a widely respected sunscreen database of over 500 products, built to help people, especially those with darker skin tones, find sun protection that truly works. From how products are actually developed to why so many sunscreens sting the eyes or feel unpleasant on the skin, Dr. Sass breaks down complex topics in a way that's clear, funny, and actually helpful. He digs into what consumers often misunderstand about sunscreen safety, why nuance matters when discussing "harmful" ingredients, and how brands can build more inclusive products from the very beginning of the development process. Dr. Sass also shares what true accessibility looks like in beauty, why packaging matters more than most people realize, and how small design choices can make a huge difference for disabled and everyday consumers alike. Deep Into The Well: Tilt Beauty

This week on Accessibly Ever After, Ashton and Kailey kick off a brand new format: full brand deep dives! First up is Tilt Beauty, the makeup line founded by Aerin Glazer after her own struggles with psoriatic arthritis inspired her to build something better. Ashton and Kailey put Tilt's ergonomic, refillable packaging to the test, breaking down what actually works (and what doesn't) for people with arthritis, chronic pain, low vision, and limited hand strength. They dig into the brand's Arthritis Foundation Ease of Use certification, the shortened mascara wand designed for shaky hands, the magnetic closures, the Braille packaging, and the Atkinson Hyperlegible font choice. Is Tilt Beauty the real deal for disabled and chronically ill makeup lovers, or just another brand riding the accessibility trend? Tune in for an honest, product-by-product accessibility review. Snow days, Wuthering Heights, & Beauty Products You Still Can’t Open

What do snow days, Wuthering Heights, and accessible beauty have in common? Somehow… everything. In this episode of Accessibly Ever After, Ashton McGrady and Kailey Waskall are catching up on life, from weekly highs and lows to navigating things like dental health, chronic illness, and the reality of energy levels in everyday routines. But as always, the conversation comes back to what matters most: making beauty more accessible, inclusive, and actually usable in real life. We’re diving into new beauty launches and trending products from brands like Fenty Hair, Westman Atelier, Patrick Ta, and Dibs Beauty, breaking down not just what they are, but how they function. Because a product can be beautiful, viral, and still completely inaccessible. From pump design and packaging ergonomics to in-store accessibility at places like Ulta, we’re talking about what works and what doesn’t. We also get into the importance of representation in media, the need for more joyful and colorful makeup, and why accessibility isn’t a bonus feature, it’s the baseline. Crown Collective 👑: A Conversation with Selena B.

Description: In this minisode of Accessibly Ever After, we’re joined by Selena, an occupational therapist and doctoral student specializing in accessibility in the beauty industry. Selena shares her journey through a non-traditional OT path and how her clinical perspective intersects with beauty, product design, and disability advocacy. Together, we explore the real gaps in accessible beauty products, from packaging and usability to representation in marketing and brand messaging. We dive into why accessible beauty is not a niche, but a necessity, especially for disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent consumers who are often overlooked in product development. Selena breaks down how occupational therapy principles like ergonomics, fine motor support, and energy conservation can directly inform more inclusive beauty design. We also talk about the role OTs can play in consulting with brands, improving accessibility standards, and advocating for more inclusive systems across the beauty industry. If you care about accessible beauty, inclusive product design, disability representation, and the future of beauty innovation, this episode is for you. Whether you’re a beauty lover, content creator, occupational therapist, or brand professional, this conversation offers practical insights and a fresh perspective on how we can build a more inclusive beauty space.
