Romans 8:12 Scripture Memory With Word Study And Simple Practice

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! We add Romans 8:12 to our Scripture memory practice and slow down long enough to notice what “therefore” is doing in the verse. We define “obligation,” connect it to Paul’s bigger argument about life in the Spirit, and rehearse a simple out-loud method to lock the verse in. • setting up the Scripture Memory Review rhythm and how to follow along • reading Romans 8:12 together and focusing on the word therefore • using context to trace therefore back to the previous verses • defining obligation as indebtedness and what believers owe • contrasting life according to the flesh with life by the Spirit • cross-referencing debt and duty across Romans 13:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, 2 Corinthians 5:15, Matthew 6:12, Romans 1:14, Galatians 5:3 • using a judge’s gavel image to remember therefore • repeating the verse three times, then practicing ten out-loud reps If you are finding these podcasts to be helpful as you memorize scripture, take a second to leave a review, hit the follow or subscribe button right now in your podcast app. And if someone popped into your mind while you were listening, tap that share button and send this episode directly to them. Answering Kids' Big Faith Questions (Featuring Young Hearts, Big Questions Author Katherine Parrish)

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! Young Hearts Big Questions Link Your child looks up and asks a question that stops you cold: “Who made God?” “Why am I here?” “Does God really care about me?” We’ve been there, and we know how quickly that moment can turn into pressure, fear, or the feeling that we’re failing at Christian parenting. We’re joined by our longtime friend Katherine Parrish, author of Young Hearts, Big Questions, to talk about how to respond with calm, honesty, and confidence in God’s Word, even when we don’t have a neat answer ready. We dig into why kids ask big faith questions so early, and why that curiosity is not something to dodge, but something to disciple. Katherine shares the real life story that sparked her book, a child’s dream of fame, and how it opened the door to conversations about purpose, identity, and being known by our Creator. We also talk about the freedom of saying, “That’s a great question, I don’t know,” then praying for wisdom, searching the Bible together, and letting that process shape our own hearts as parents. You’ll hear why Katherine built parent devotions and age specific discussion questions into the book, how to keep meaningful family faith conversations going after the story ends, and practical ways to make discipleship a lifestyle when schedules feel packed. We close with Psalm 139, a powerful passage for Scripture memory, body image, and identity, and how speaking God’s truth over our kids can slowly transform what they believe about themselves. If you’re hungry for simple tools for family discipleship and Bible based answers for kids, listen in, then subscribe, share this with a parent friend, and leave a review so more families can find it. Discontentment, Gratitude, And The Holiday Pressure

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! Holiday stress has a way of exposing what’s already simmering underneath: unmet expectations, quiet comparison, and the feeling that what we have is not enough. We sit down with Rebecca and Cassie from Shepherd Scripture Sisters for a candid conversation about Christian contentment and gratitude, and why discontentment and unthankfulness can feel so “normal” that we stop calling them what they are. From motherhood overwhelm to job frustration to relationship pain, we talk about how these heart patterns show up in real life, not just in theory. We also slow down and get biblical. We unpack why contentment is something we learn over time, why Scripture gives us permission to lament honestly, and what Paul means in Philippians 4 when he points to the “secret” of being steady in both plenty and need. We wrestle with a huge question: how do we give thanks in every circumstance without pretending the circumstance is good? Along the way, we touch on comparison and social media, the pressure of the holiday to-do list, and why grief and gratitude can exist together. You’ll walk away with simple, practical ideas you can start this week: highs, lows, and arrows at the table, writing down three gratitudes, praying while you do the tasks you usually grumble about, and using scripture memory to take your thoughts captive when you feel yourself spiraling. If this conversation helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs encouragement before the holidays, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show. Memorizing Romans 8:8 And Understanding The Word "Cannot"

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! Romans 8:7 A Mind Set On The Flesh Cannot Submit To God

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! Your mind is never just background noise. It’s either leaning toward God or pushing back, and Romans 8:7 names that resistance with unsettling clarity: “the mind of the flesh is hostile to God.” I’m Alicia Luther, and today we take one short verse and treat it like it matters, because it does. We slow down, observe the text, and pay attention to what Paul is actually saying about submission, authority, and why the flesh can’t simply be coached into obedience. We also do a focused word study on “hostile,” tracing the meaning of enmity and opposition, then we let Scripture interpret Scripture through cross references. You’ll hear how Luke 23:12 uses “enmity” in a real relationship, how Ephesians 2:15–16 describes Jesus “killing the hostility” through the cross, and how James 4:4 warns that friendship with the world can become enmity with God. All of it strengthens the core contrast in Romans between walking according to the flesh and walking according to the Spirit, and it gives real language for the internal battle so many believers feel. Then we move into a practical Scripture Memory Review you can repeat anytime, using the Berean Standard Bible or any translation you prefer: listen as I read Romans 8:7 three times, then say it out loud ten times. We close with a simple gut check: does this verse make you agitated or anxious, and what can you do today to refocus your mind by reviewing what you’ve already memorized in Romans? If this helps you, follow or subscribe, leave a review, and share the episode with a friend who needs it. Observations Questions Do you see a contrast or comparison in the verse? Are there any words that you need to understand better? Is there a term of conclusion used? Are there any repeated words or phrases? Can you ask the 5 W’s and an H—who, what, when, where, why, and how? If you have found the podcast helpful, consider leaving a review on Apple Podcast or rating it Spotify. So, depending on where you are, either grab your paper, your bible and a pen or just listen and enjoy! Let’s get to it! Romans 8:4 so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. It’s a good habit to start asking questions as you start to memorize a verse. The best way to do this is by asking the 5W’s and H. If you're listening to the podcast, you can find the questions in the show notes. Let’s make some observations by asking the 5W’s and H. If you're listening to the podcast, you can find the questions in the show notes. How is the law described? What does the righteous standard do? Who is exempt from this righteous standard? Who has the righteous standard of the law? What is the contrast in this verse? What exactly does the Spirit mean? Think about this and write down your answers. I'll give you a minute to write those down and as you do, you may need to go back to the previous verses and also review the last Word Studies. How Can You Know That You Belong To Christ??

I would love to know what you are currently memorizing! Have you ever worried about whether you are truly a Christian? Or perhaps you wonder about another person's salvation. Romans 8:5–9 gives us clarity because it shows us the difference between a life lived according to the flesh and a life lived according to the Spirit. These verses aren't saying that we will never struggle with the flesh. Rather, they show us that there is an obvious disposition in someone who belongs to Christ versus someone who does not. Welcome back, friends! We just wrapped up the first week of the Romans 8 study written by Pam Gillespie. This week, we observed the whole chapter and then went back to Genesis and Romans 1. The value of going back to Genesis and Romans 1 was to establish that there is a Creator God. You either believe He exists or you do not, and whatever you believe about this will shape your worldview. Today, I want to dive into this statement: You either belong to God or you do not.
