    T:2 E:6. ¿Qué es realmente el arte y qué no lo es? Días feriados nace de una pregunta que me acompañó durante mi viaje por Guadalajara y Zapopan en México : Entré a galerías, museos, festivales y espacios culturales buscando respuestas. Conversé con artistas, observé sus obras y también me encontré con ambientes donde el arte parecía confundirse con la apariencia, el prestigio o la pertenencia a ciertos círculos. Durante esos días empecé a preguntarme si el arte está necesariamente donde se anuncia, en una institución, en un festival o en una galería. A veces lo encontré en una obra inesperada, en una conversación, en la sensibilidad de alguien o en una forma particular de mirar el mundo. Otras veces encontré solamente distancia, espectáculo y la necesidad de ser reconocido. Esta crónica es mi reflexión sobre esa frontera difícil de definir: la diferencia entre crear y aparentar que se crea, entre la sensibilidad y la pose, entre una obra que nace de una necesidad verdadera y otra que solo adopta la apariencia del arte. No intento dar una respuesta definitiva. Más bien cuento lo que vi, lo que sentí y las preguntas que me quedaron después del viaje.

Mit dabei ist diesmal die Schriftstellerin und Journalistin Elke Heidenreich. In ihrem neusten Buch »Ach, eine Fanfare!« blickt sie zurück auf ihr Leben als Leserin und feiert die Autorinnen und Autoren, die ihr Leben geprägt haben. Auch ist der Schriftsteller George Saunders zu Gast. In seinem neuen Roman »Nachtwache« beschreibt er eine Ebene zwischen Leben und Tod. Im Gespräch erzählt er, warum es ihn in seinem Schreiben in dieses Zwischenreich zieht. Volker Weidermann empfiehlt außerdem die Geschichte zweier Brüder, die sich im Streit um einen geerbten Bauernhof auseinandergelebt haben. Er stellt eine Coming-of-Age-Geschichte aus Indonesien vor, über einen Jungen, der gegen religiöse Strenge und die Erwartungen seines Vaters rebelliert; und er präsentiert einen Roman, dessen Veröffentlichung in der DDR vor mehr als vierzig Jahren verhindert wurde.
