Larry Proffit Wisdom

I first met Larry Proffit way back in the late 1980s at a personal development training he was conducting. Larry introduced us to some of the great masters of success through powerful movies and audio recordings—people like J. Douglas Edwards, Earl Nightingale, and Norman Vincent Peale. For me, it was a transformative experience. I loved every minute of it. Then, in 1990, I threw my whole heart into a new company. Imagine my delight when I discovered that my old friend Larry Proffit was its Director of Training—and that he had even played an important role in mentoring the company’s founder. Something clicked inside me. I felt that I had received a calling—a kind of Manifest Destiny. I believed I was in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. I knew this could become something huge. For years, I had dreamed about making a meaningful difference in the lives of a great many people. Suddenly, I felt that the opportunity to do exactly that was right in front of me. That experience planted an idea that has stayed with me ever since: What is the one thing you could do that, if done extraordinarily well, could make the greatest difference? Perhaps it is something uniquely yours to do. And perhaps, if you don't step forward and do it, it simply won't get done. That is a powerful question to ponder: What could you do with your life, your experience, your talents, and your influence that could genuinely make life better for many other people? Today, after all these years, I had the opportunity to catch up with Larry Proffit. Once again, we found ourselves discussing those same powerful ideas—purpose, calling, opportunity, and the difference one committed person can make. And remarkably, after more than three decades, I find myself feeling that sense of destiny once again. There is a new calling. A new opportunity. A new chance to make a difference. In this interview, Larry and I explore those ideas—and why I believe Avini Health may represent a Manifest Destiny for many of us.

That experience planted an idea that has stayed with me ever since:

What is the one thing you could do that, if done extraordinarily well, could make the greatest difference?

As you listen, I encourage you to consider one question:

Could it be part of yours?
