ACL- What to do to keep your athlete ready in mind, body, and spirit

In this podcast episode Dr. Ashley Shrum is joined by Dr. Amie Schuetz (both physical therapists) to discuss ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries. They discuss what the ACL is, where its located, and what type of situations most result in the injury; how you can support your athlete or teammate that is undergoing ACL repair; what to avoid saying because its not helpful; and what to do when this athlete returns to the gym for the first few weeks. There is a video bonus feature to this episode which includes a demonstration and instruction on several drills you can do in the gym to reintroduce your athlete to training and really gauge where they are mentally and physically for return to sport. Check out the video here: https://www.calibratedpt.com/podcastbonusvideo If you'd like to get a jump training program or find a jump training specialist in your area I am willing to help you out with that, please just email me ashley@calibratedpt.com If you would like to get in contact with Dr. Amie Schuetz, DPT she practices in the northern Chicago, Illinois region and you can email her at amie.schuetz@m-o-i.com Thank you again Amie for coming on and sharing your story with all of us and your insights. I know I personally will take a few of these phrases you said and start adding them back in immediately to my dialogue with recovering athletes.
