Our birthday getaway to Cancun was supposed to begin with champagne and celebration—but instead it turned into one of the most unbelievable travel nightmares we've ever experienced.

We take everyone behind the scenes of the chaos that started before sunrise when American Airlines canceled our original flight, rebooked us multiple times, changed our gates over and over again, and somehow managed to make an already stressful travel day even more unbelievable.

Inside a temporary American Airlines Admirals Club, what should have been a quiet place to regroup quickly became the center of an uncomfortable confrontation with an employee whose behavior left us feeling shocked, intimidated and completely blindsided.
