Electronic Voice Phenomena, or EVP, are mysterious speech-like sounds found on recordings even though no clear voice was heard at the time. Since the mid-20th century, paranormal investigators have interpreted some of these recordings as possible communication from the dead.
This episode explores both the history of EVP and natural explanations such as auditory pareidolia, radio interference, environmental noise, recording artifacts, and suggestion. It also examines why ambiguous sounds can seem much clearer once listeners are told what they are supposed to hear.
Although some recordings remain unidentified, no EVP has provided reliable scientific proof of communication with the dead. The deeper mystery may be how strongly the human mind searches for voices, patterns, and meaning inside noise.
