Jodie Bordeaux

Jodie Lynn Campbell Bordeaux was 28 years old and seven months pregnant when she was murdered at her home in Powhattan, Kansas, on November 21, 1997. Jodie and her husband, Shawn, worked at the Golden Eagle Casino, where Jodie had become a supervisor and was responsible for hiring and firing employees. After disciplining and eventually firing an employee, Jodie lost her job after a grievance was filed against her. She believed the firing was retaliation. Around the same time, Jodie and Shawn began receiving anonymous late-night phone calls, and Jodie told her family she believed someone was watching their home. Shawn initially thought a lightbulb had exploded, but quickly realized someone was shooting into the house. Investigators determined the shooting was likely targeted and did not believe Shawn was involved. Authorities eventually focused on people connected to Jodie's employment at the casino, but no one was ever arrested.
