This is a fun podcast with Dr. Phil Maffetone. Our original intent was to talk about his new book, "The Overfat Pandemic: Exposing the Problem and Its Simple Solution for Everyone Who Needs to Eliminate Excess Body Fat".

As we began our discussion pre-recording, we found that our discussion took us down another interesting path: A path that involves music, its origin, how it is composed, challenges, how we listen, etc. Dr. Maffetone explains that music helps stimulate brain activity and releases dopamine, a chemical in your brain that affects your emotions, movements and your sensations of pleasure and pain. Here are a few links that we spoke about:

We hope you enjoy this interesting trail detour with us.

Two of Dr. Maffetone's MUST HAVE books:

  1. The Big Book of Health and Fitness: A Practical Guide to Diet, Exercise, Healthy Aging, Illness Prevention, and Sexual Well-Being
  2. The Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing
