It's All Falling Apart

Reform UK were targeted by an undercover sting operation by Channel 4 and Verbatim, a group of climate activists who posed as American donors willing to commission polling and circumvent electoral laws to fund the party. The activists work for the Centre for Climate Reporting, which receives foreign funding from the European Climate Foundation, Denmark’s KR Foundation, Belgian Meliore Foundation, and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. But this isn't about opposing foreign interference. This is a weaponisation of the law to sabotage Reform's electoral prospects. James Orr and Dan Jukes were caught in the trap and have resigned pending an investigation by Reform. One Reform official described Orr as a "blood sacrifice" to save Farage, the true target of the sting. Reform's polling lead has disappeared. A party official told the Spectator that the weekend's conference was designed to get "the country to fall in love with Nigel again." They clearly think they can't win without Farage at the helm. But without the likes of Orr, even if Reform wins an election, they won't be able to govern effectively. The doors for fresh young talent to enter the civil service will close. The quality of policy and personnel will diminish. Reform will regress to posting about woke vegan breakfasts, and be consumed by factional infighting over who will be Farage's successor. I don't care if Reform wanted to take donations from Americans who want to save Britain. I only care if whether they're up to the job. Without the likes of James Orr, they won't be.
