How to draw your own map

There is not much warming up when you start talking to Eric Maisel: You get to the existential questions within minutes. Which is no wonder considering that Eric Maisel read Sartre at a very young age already. So our conversation turned to existential questions about identity and freedom of choice right away. It's a variation of Sisyphus pushing that rock up the hill and having it rolled back down. We're rolling up the rock of identity each day and having it rolled back down and not being sure that we've lived the right life or the life we intended to live. Eric Maisel asks for a paradigm shift in how we perceive "meaning". He says that meaning is a feeling and therefore it is natural that it is not present all the time. And like all feelings we cannot pressure ourselves to feel it, but we can create circumstances that invite a feeling of meaning into our lives. He is also convinced that it does not make sense to chase a single life purpose but that we can have multiple purposes in our life. Das Gespräch wurde auf Englisch geführt.
