And knitters don't want to directly compensate designers by paying a fair price for all the work that goes into a pattern. Perfect listening while knitting.

Regarding selling patterns as kits, the designers doing that are trying to right a wrong which is that yarn manufacturers don't share any part of their profit with those who are driving their sales, knit designers.  And knitters don't want to directly compensate designers by paying a fair price for all the work that goes into a pattern.
