S3 E73 Jess Baldwin — Nothing about you needs fixing
transcript
show notes
Nothing about you needs fixing before you're allowed to make the thing — the work is seeing what's already working.
So many singers believe a real artist creates effortlessly, and that needing structure, drafts or help means something is wrong with them. Jess Baldwin, a voice specialist, creativity coach and singer-songwriter, spent years believing that too. In this conversation from the archives, she shares how she wrote her first songs, crowdfunded her first album, and rebuilt her coaching around one idea that's still true today: you already have more of what you need than you think.
🎧 In this episode
- Your creative process doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Some writers get it in one pass; others rework every line, and both make real songs.
- Saying yes before you feel ready can be the push your creativity needs, especially if you work best with a deadline and other people involved.
- A plan from a book is a guide, not a test. Working with someone who knows where flexibility is safe can make a big project possible.
- When you ask your community for support, what comes back can feed you as much as what you give.
