Slowing It All Down

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” — Lao Tzu (adapted) There is a pace the natural world keeps — unhurried, and somehow nothing is left undone. Most of us live at the opposite tempo. We move fast, we fill every gap, and we wear our busyness like a badge. And underneath all that speed, the body is bracing. Jacqueline and I want to talk today about what happens when you deliberately slow it all down. What it feels like in the body and the nervous system when you stop bracing. What it does to your vibrational energy, your frequency, the field you carry into a room. We have come at this from our own angles and together — through changing careers, taking on spiritual practice, and eventually moving to Bowen Island. Recently we deepened that by moving here more full-time, and it has surfaced something neither of us quite expected, which is part of what sparked this conversation. We also want to be honest about the resistance. Because slowing down can feel strangely unnatural, even threatening — and there is a reason for that worth exploring. There are real benefits, there are real costs, and there are small, doable first steps. What actually changes in the body and the nervous system when we slow down? Why does slowing down feel so unnatural, and what are we so afraid will happen if we stop? And what are the small steps that start to shift the whole tempo of a life? All of this and more in the next hour.

There is a pace the natural world keeps — unhurried, and somehow nothing is left undone.
