show notes
This is episode two hundred. And the honest thing I noticed looking back at all of them is that most of what I've talked about here is adding. Build this, learn this, become this. Which I stand behind. But the biggest changes in my own life didn't come from anything I added. They came from what I put down.
So for the two hundredth one, we're closing the clutter series by doing the opposite of what this show usually does. We're subtracting.
One question, pointed at four places. What was this for? Past tense, on purpose, because there was almost always a good reason once. The only question is whether that reason is still alive.
Your habits, and why the closet keeps filling back up. Your calendar, still booked for a season that ended. Your phone, the junk drawer you carry with you. And then your house, saved for last, because the house was never the problem. The house is the receipt.
Plus the fifteen-minute practice that works on a drawer, an app, a commitment, or a story you've been telling about yourself.
In this episode: why nobody ever decided to build that drawer. The difference between being undisciplined and being extremely disciplined at a life you no longer live. Why we don't quit things, we just get worse at them. And the two questions that make up the actual audit: what do I want to keep doing, and what do I want to stop.
The clearing isn't the goal. What grows in it is.
