Gas is expensive again. Cars are also expensive, largely due to dealership fees and taxes. Driving in general seems barely worth it. You don't need to drive to go to Tokyo, though, and with the yen as weak as it is the whole country is cheap. You do need to fly, but let the airlines worry about jet fuel prices.
