Inside the Machine

It’s time! We’re pulling back the curtain to reveal how the reality TV machine actually works behind closed doors. We look at the art of story production and the (dark?) art post-production, where hundreds of hours of raw footage get condensed into 23- or 45-minutes of tight, emotional primetime television. The Traitors NZ series producer Sarah Hadfield demystifies some of the terms and technique, while we explore the controversial technique of the "frankenbite" (splicing audio together to ‘fix’ participant interviews) highlighting the delicate balancing act between entertaining an audience and remaining fair to the cast.
