Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? Genesis 3:11 KJV *- One reason people fear is that they do not know what to do. *- Secondly, fear that traps them is not knowing whether what they choose to do will succeed. *- Fear multiplies when uncertainty gives birth to more uncertainty. *- One unanswered question often produces many more, and this is how spells work—whether cast by demons, other people, or ourselves. *- Fear is often the result of not knowing what God wants us to do next. *- Also, fear causes us to wonder whether obeying God will work. And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. Genesis 3:10 KJV *- Adam’s fear did not begin with his nakedness—it began when he no longer knew how to respond to God after disobeying Him. *- Fear often enters when our fellowship with God is broken. *- The first question fear asks is, “What do I do now?” 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV *- Fear loses its power when God tells us what to do, and we obey Him. *- The safest place is not knowing everything—it is hearing and obeying God. John 14:27 KJV *- Jesus did not promise the absence of problems; He instructed us and promised His peace. *- Peace is the result of knowing and deciding to do what God wants you to do. *- Jesus commanded us to prevent our hearts from being troubled and from fearing. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV *- A sound mind is a disciplined, God-governed mind that refuses to surrender to uncertainty. *- Fear tells you to guess. The Holy Spirit teaches you to hear and obey. Lifework Assignment: *- Request, “Holy Spirit, reveal every area of my life where fear has replaced Your leading so I can stop fearing and start following You. Teach me how to recognize Your voice quickly so I’ll always know what You want me to do.” *- Remember: Fear leads, and the Holy Spirit leads. Who will you decide to faithfully follow? Expected Behavior: 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:3,5 KJV *- Instead of allowing fear to tell you what might happen, seek God’s wisdom until you know what He is saying. *- Every time fear asks, “What should I do?” let the Holy Spirit answer—not you.
