Insider Feature: A Tribute To Mathilde Favier

This week fashion lost Mathilde Favier, the director of public relations at Dior, in a car accident in France that also took the life of her partner, the film producer Nicolas Altmayer. She was one of the most significant figures in the industry, and yet she spent her whole career out of frame, shaping the moments the rest of us remember without ever standing in the spotlight herself. In this episode I want to pay tribute to her, and to everyone like her. We always hear about the names at the front of the house, the designers and the creative directors, and they deserve every bit of their credit. What we rarely talk about are the people who make a brand tick behind the scenes, who build the relationships, evolve the house, and turn a label into a world people want to belong to. Mathilde was one of the very best of them. So this is also the story of what a fashion PR director actually does, how the red carpet became the most valuable stage in the industry over the last few decades, and why the people pulling the strings matter just as much as the ones taking the applause. It's a tribute and a reminder. Because a week like this shakes you no matter who you are, and it says something about how fragile life really is. Rest in peace Mathilde and Nicolas.
