Your family isn’t rejecting being ready, they’re rejecting the scary version of “prepping” they’ve been shown. I break down why that eye roll shows up so fast and why it’s usually tied to discomfort, stereotypes, and the fear of admitting that bad things can happen, not a lack of common sense.

We get practical about what *doesn’t* work: the long grid-down lecture, fear-first “what if everything collapses?” arguments, ultimatums, and doom videos that quietly poison the topic. Then we shift to a calmer approach that actually builds family preparedness: start with their world, use normal language, and solve small problems they already agree are real. Think car kit instead of bug out bag, extra groceries instead of “emergency food,” and a battery lantern for the next power outage instead of a big dramatic scenario.

I also talk through how to let preparedness prove itself without saying “I told you so,” how to involve kids without making them anxious, and how to keep prepping from turning into relationship damage. If you’re heading to Prepper Camp, I share details on my active shooter survival class (run, hide, fight) and I’m adding clearer schedule links in the show notes so you can print them out.

Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more families can find a steadier path to readiness.
